  • I had a blast setting up and spending the night in my Napier Truck Tent. The initial set-up took me about 90 minutes, as I decided to trim two of the fiberglass tent poles. The second time took me 20 minutes. The tent turns any truck into a poor man's RV. The tent retails for $240, through Amazon.

    Wow Wow Wow. Loved your video and your truck tent. And that scenery - all from your driveway! How clever to trim the fibreglass to ensure a better fit. I loved that you couldn't wait to have a sleep out in the tent. Like a little kid! I am sure that you will have some great adventures in that tent. I have some photos for you of some of our nomadic camper projects. You have really touched on a passion that myself and my husband share. We love getting away in our caravans - both car and horse drawn. And...I happen to sew canvas camping projects for a living. Thankyou for sharing.

      Thank you Vee! I count myself blessed to open the front door, and see those gorgeous mountains! I wanted to spend a few nights in the tent, prior to heading out to more remote locations, to see what I'd need. There's something about the call of the wild, that is appealing. Perhaps it's that we live in such an age, where we have sooo much stuff. Our homes fill up with stuff, and before long we're swimming in things. For me, I want to simplify and reduce my life, and take inventory of the things that I really need. I saw your DM, and all the photos. Wow! A horse-drawn caravan! Love it! And your canvas projects were amazing! Thanks so much for watching and leaving such a thoughtful message! Happy day! 😊

    I watched another video where 2 guys used and reviewed your tent and they said they had better luck making the poles fit by leaving the straps real loose until they got everything done then tightened them up. The one guy said he almost snapped a pole also but setting up with the straps loose helped solve it.

    • @rencougzip
      @rencougzip  2 года назад

      Thank you Glenn! It's interesting. A neighbor of mine purchased the same truck tent 3 months later and asked me to help him install it. We were able to set it up without trimming the pole. Not sure if Napier made adjustments but both our tents are functioning well. Appreciate your watch and kind comment. Happy day! :)

    Oh man, I TOO am fascinated with the "nomadic" lifestyle! I sooo want to try it as well, but it just seems like too much work lol! Patti prefers the more "lavish" stays and I don't blame her. It is tempting. There are so many YT channels out there too it's almost overwhelming. I am so much looking forward to you guys getting out in your new get up and seeing how it goes!

    • @rencougzip
      @rencougzip  3 года назад

      Thanks Darin! What is it about that lifestyle that is so appealing? Dad always referred to mom as his "refinement", lol. I think Patti & Melanie are our refinement, lol. Perhaps a trailer, camper, RV, would be more appealing to our "refinements". I like the idea of not having to be tethered to all the responsibility and cost of home-ownership. You're right, there are a plethora of YT channels that promote a more mobile lifestyle. Thanks for watching Darin, and stay tuned for some camping! 😊

    • @SippyCupAdventures
      @SippyCupAdventures 3 года назад

      @@rencougzip Our "refinements." Beautiful. What is appealing to me, is that of what we already seek, just being outdoors, but specifically, no neighbors! With dispersed camping, (like the Wassoms) do, you can be alone. We don't own a home. Just when we start to think about it, something comes up, and that recently being the pandemic. I am scared to death to re-purchase a home, because of what you said, the cost and responsibilities, and you are "stuck" and what if you have lousy neighbors? Nomadic lifestyle allows you to be free of that, I assume.

    • @rencougzip
      @rencougzip  3 года назад

      @@SippyCupAdventures Home ownership is awesome in many ways, but after raising 3 kids, and burying 5 parents. Our home has become an expensive storage receptacle, lol. We are trying to dig out of the clutter. I love the philosophy behind the nomadic culture. It forces people to become very intentional about what they own, because of limited space. Studies reveal that people actively use only about 15% of what they own. Crazy! 🤪

      Hey Jim! Thanks for watching! I saw this tent on YT, and immediately bought one, lol. I thought I'd give the driveway a whirl before venturing to the great outdoors. The 6 inches of foam was pretty comfortable, not like my bed, but not bad. The worst part was the small size of my sleeping bag. I felt like a kid again. It'll be fun with the grandkids. :)

    How do you remove a pole section while keeping bungee connected?

    • @rencougzip
      @rencougzip  2 года назад

      Hi Blackscout, I had to pinch the bungee above the pole I was removing, untie the knot, remove the section and retie the knot. However, a buddy of mine bought the exact tent a year later, but didn't have to remove any of the poles. Seems like the company fixed the issue. Hope that helped :)
