What I don’t understand is that the shuttle landing runway is supposed to be able to completely stop a 400 kts shuttle even without parachute and brakes (in case of the malfunctioning) 🤨

Without brakes an airplane even accelerates with idle thrust to about 80 knots. So basically it would never stop at all.

Instead of putting the nose down right away, hold as much up elevator to have the wings act like airbrakes
