- BULLETSTORM VR was an anticipated released as it brought a great old classic to VR. However, priced at $40 this has been an absolutely disastrous launch for pretty much every platform this game is on. On standalone this game not only looks horrible, but it is not fun to play at all.
Gameplay is captured in 1440p.
In this appalling state, the game is currently on launch it could surely improve in the future. This game needs not only patches but a major overhaul. The game is a total of 8GB and some change.
In the current state of the guy, it is a DO NOT BUY on standalone. Have some self-respect as I clearly have none :(

🌮🌮🌮Here is a guide for what all the OVR metrics I have on screen. On their own they don't mean much. However, they can tell a story of what goes under the hood of a game. If a game is running at its limit or there is space for improvement 🌮🌮🌮
🔴RS: Base Resolution Scale
🔴BAT: My current Battery Percentage on my headset
🔴CPU L, GPU L: Central Processing Unit and Graphics Processing Unit Level. The higher compute but at the cost of battery.
🔴FPS: Frame Per Second
🔴DDR: Display Refresh Rate
🔴B TEM: Battery Temperature
🔴TEARS: Screen tearing
🔴EB W, EB H: Which gives the exact resolution the game is ran on the lenses.
🔴CPU U, GPU U: Central Processing Unit and Graphics Processing Unit Utilization.
🔴A MEM: Available Memory of the RAM on the headset
🔴CPU F, GPU F: Central Processing Unit and Graphics Processing Unit Frequency. The higher clocks the better the compute.
🔴ASW FPS: Application Space Warp, Frame Per Second.
This is only active when the application uses an Application Space Warp. It's an optimization technology used to give apps up to 70% more computing headroom. Application SpaceWarp is more developer-driven driven and it runs every application it utilized halfling the frame rate from 90hz to 45hz. AppSW is magic but requires more effort, it's developed for standalone. It uses motion vectors generated inside the application. It might be the thing that gives standalone next-gen graphics in the future, but it's not perfect.

#spatialcomputing lmaooo hello MR.timothy apple
On another note: Quest 3 footage isn't as badly washed out as the comparison makes it look, my footage just comes out like that. Quest 2 is only slightly better contrast and blacks. But, not as much as the footage makes it look.
This game belongs in a alpha build test currently.
Why is that the 2 looked better?
Played the original, played the Duke Nukem Edition and loved both. I was very hyped for the VR Version and refunded it after four crashes and because of the bad fps and visuals. Its not important to me having good graphics, but this is a shame.
Bro, same! Something about bulletstorm that just clicks with me… my Q2 broke a fee months ago and I just got a Q3. This review is depressing.
Is ASW what makes these games look jittery sometimes?
I don't think this game looks bad at all for VR, graphically speaking. Although I am an old dude, and easier impressed than people who grew up in the PS4/PS5 era.
Can't get it to even start on psvr2 waste of money....
i returned that game at the speed of light.
Ohh I loved this game on Xbox 360. I always thought this game was hugely inspired by the NASA tourism posters
so far 7 crashes on meta 3. finished now. just ok game. poor graphics but the weapons rock.
For ASW 45fps is MINIMUM
Nah. It can run fine at 36hz
Agreed 100%. And it's better to avoid ASW at all. It's sad that quest 3 doesn't support 60hz as quest 2 does. Cos sometimes it's better to set game to 60hz than suffer in 45 with ASW.
this game has been out for VR for years on pc,,, this is a old game and still struging with standalone vr@@DevVRAR
are you sure u not sufferring from the account performance nerf bug because i had same loow frames in DOE and then i heard that making a fresh meta account and linking the old account to the new to play your game fixes the bug i tried and boom magic my game went from 50 fps back to 80 fps
I'm sure I don't have the bug. But, I do know about the performance bug, a restart usually fixes it. Where it makes everything laggy, jumpy, and weird looking for no reason.
In this game specifically and others using Application Space Warp framerate are usually unstable.
@@sixtacos i decided to give up on the quest 3 it’s the 4th one I return for defective unit problems like overheating, dead pixels , frame drops ,stutters I never had that issue back on my quest 2 idk why this time around quality control is this bad I’m really desapointed
I'm having fun on the q3, but it looks horrible. Bad for a q2 game.
good job on the review👍
Thanks!👍 BIG UP! 🌮
