I spent almost 3 weeks of my free time to figure out ways of removing the crankshaft pulley, it was not easy but I am sure it will be easier for you after watching this video, let me know your experience. Cheers, Max.
You my friend are a game changer. The only way I could undo it too. You really got me out of a pickle. Thank you
Glad it helped you. 👍
Perserverance wins in the end. Well done.
I have used the starter bump method on a Mazda 626 , but it was only 160 Nm. It worked well though with the breaker bar touching onto the ground to prevent movement.
Yes Leonardo, I couldn't believe that starter method did not work.
great work Max , that is a lot of nm of torque, need a good torque wrench with a bloody big bar 😅
Yes Allan, one of a kind bloody bolt 😀
I really admire your mechanical skill & creativity for removing it! What's your opinion on those MB repair manual showing multi step torque such as 200 NM + 90° angle in this case? Following those steps are impossible due to narrow work space limitation. When I replaced my W203 suspension strut, I applied blue loctite then tighten to the best I can feel 😅.
Your crank bolt & my suspension bolts are simple bolts, not those torque-to-yield thing so it just puzzles me MB WIS always show complicated torque process !
Hi Brian, yes, It is difficult to tighten this one to the specs, 200 + 90 is probably +500 NM, as my 500NM would not open this either...
Hi, I have a GLK 280 with the 3.0 M272, and recently it started the same squeaking at cold start. After warming up the engine, the noise disappears. After looking at the crankshaft pulley, I see it's kind of off-centered. I thought it could be some tensioner bearing, but watching your video, there's a chance the pulley is the culprit.
Yes, make sure the belt is in a good shape first.
Thanks for this great video. what is the socket size for the pulley screw ? Cheers !
27mm :)
Hi I just watched your video on diagnosing a mercedes with a 38 pin. I have a w202 1996 c200 m111 engine. Do you have any more resources on the fault codes and pin layout.
Sorry you have to google it.
Hi. Thanks for the video. What tools are you using at 1:42? It looks like 3 different tools. A ratchet and 2 others. Which are they please?
That's a dial indicator but you don't need that really.
@@BenzAddiction Thank you. But I mean what are you using to turn the pulley? What is attached to the ratchet? I need to adjust my crankshaft pulley to 305 degrees, but I don’t know what tool I need to actually turn it.
In other words, what size or type of socket are you using to turn the pulley? Where can i buy one?
@@joshb6361 27mm socket.
So scary
Why?
