What a great Episode, cheers lads. Umesh seems like such a nice bloke. Joined the IMDA a couple of weeks ago and the Support and help from Gareth with onboarding was brilliant and the resources have been so helpful. Great organisation. Thanks all.
What a Legend Umesh appears to be. I could listen to him for hours, talks so much sense. Joe Interesting watching the thought process going on on your face. Remember " Great is the enemy of good" You do a fantastic job with these and I would happily buy a car from the people you seem to attract Dave, Chops, Mr Logbook loan is a new addition for me.
That was a great Podcast I’m registered with the IMDA and like James pointed out I wasn’t aware of all the free downloads etc so will be going straight onto the platform. As traders we really need to spread with word with the IMDA platform.
I really enjoyed this podcast. I'm 4.5 years in having only gone full time in June. 30 advertised, 10 in prep, 1 man band! After working in Heavy engineering for the last 38 years i'm enjoying working for myself doing all the things Umesh & James mentioned. Sounds a perfect balance Umesh, well done you! @@zzhughesd Did I mention I'm a mechanic by trade and I do the majority of my own servicing? haha. Like you I sub out the valeting etc. Thanks again for sharing your wisdom and experience. Pete
Yet again another great podcast. It couldn't have come at a better time as looking into start car trading with my son and I want to do it correctly from the beginning. Another new member signing up.
Knew Umesh when he was at VW in Leek & I was working for VW warranties. Always gave me time (unlike most GSMs & it's great to hear his insights to do with scale. Our dealership/workshop is about at capacity & it is tempting to expand. Question is, is that the right way ahead? Thanks guys, enjoyed it.
I think one of the reasons Umesh seems so happy is because he owns his own showroom and workshop. I know for us that made a big difference to our point of view. Because we knew that, even if our business was not going as well as we wanted it to, the property was going up in value and we were making money in the long run regardless.
Interesting that mechanics or ‘techs’ are almost regarded as a support function and necessary annoyance to the motor dealership business. Cars are machines and they do need fixing. Maybe one week you could get their perspective?
Agreed. I'm an out of date mech. who also sells and I have the utmost respect for the modern day mechanic who needs so much skill and patience to work on todays vehicles. A difficult and underrated technical job. Without the mechanic there would be no motor trade.
Great podcast lads. Just wondering what all of your opinions are on being able to provide finance. Do you think it is important when trying to sell cars up to the £20k mark. Thanks.
who supplies consumables for the IMDA? i work for a national high quality consumable company that would deffo be interested in giving great prices to members and doing a partner deal with the IMDA!!
