The H2 is a great truck. Tons of room, rides smooth, and is capable. I was out in Arizona and did a Hummer tour of a canyon. It was the experience that got me into offroading. The thing went places a lot of the people who diss it would never try.
I felt a little disheartened when Doug Demuro bashed this vehicle. Glad to see a proper review of this rig for what it was built to do, which doesn't include mall crawling. Thanks and Cheers guys!
I have a 2006 H2 and cpl of Jeeps ... My Hummer has never left me stranded up here in northern 🇨🇦 where I live..never had any major engine or transmission work done(or minor) ..the 6.0 L Vortex is a very dependable engine ... I’ve only needed to replace my brake pads once so far... Not sure why it’s gets a bad rap about fuel when my Jeeps especially the 3.7 V6 is a surprising little pig on fuel..and compared to a few power wagons my buddies own I’m getting about the same gas mileage as them... I will never get rid of my Hummer .. it doesn’t owe me a dime... Everything still works from the air ride & huge factory dual compressor to all the electronics & sunroof and Bose system .. every switch and light and option still work like the day I bought it back in 2006 The paint is still all original no body rust anywhere... Cheers from HudsonBay 🇨🇦
DrScopeify : the main difference between the hummer and the GX would be that the Land Cruiser will outlive two or three of these hummers, also outperform on and offroad, it also has waay nicer interior and materials all around, it also has one of the best resale values of any vehicle, AND (subjectively) looks way better. That said, I 'm not saying that the hummer is "the most hated" truck, but it definitely is not in the same league as a Land Cruiser.
+Frank White Well that's your opinion. I would rely on a 6.0 over Toyota's pig 5.7 any day. Even Ford and Mopar guys don't bash the 6.0. As for Toyotas ridiculously overpriced oversized 4Runner being nicer when it comes to luxury, well yeah, that was kind of the point. People didn't buy those to go off road or pull weight like they do these. The old ones may have been.great of road. but the early to mid 2000 models, no way. Also, that era of the Land Cruiser doesn't seem to exist in my part of the country anymore. And then when they did exist, only brat soccer moms had them anyway. Certainly a lot more Hummers running around on the streets even to this day than any of those ridiculously overpriced SUVs. Not that the H2 wasn't overpriced as well. It was different though, and people definitely noticed them. I think if you really want to go off-road in a Toyota you should just stick to the Tacoma...and unfortunately the Colorado has did a good job of making those look bad. Even the queens at consumer reports turned their back on the Tacoma.
You obviously know nothing on the topic, so I would advice to take a drive in both then come talk again. And I'm not just talking outperform, I'm actually talking murder.
Holy crap why??? They screwed it up hugely the first time there is no way anyone can make it less than the disaster it is and still look like a (poc) H2
Way underrated, I had a 2008 H2 SUT with Off-Road package, color black with Sedona red interior, changed the tires from 35 to 37 inch, that's all I changed. Over a timespan of 8 years and 187.000 miles I did 90% of the trails in Moab; we enjoyed going 3 times per year. We travelled all over the US in luxury and comfort with our H2 and never had any problems. An incredible vehicle and American Icon. Btw. The performance off-road was better than my H1. In my life I had many vehicles, hence, the H2 will always be my most memorable.
I don't know if you've noticed this, or if you have, if you've tried it, but GM designed a quasi-locking front differential, according to their literature. No - it is not mechanical, like the rear, but the Owner's Manual says (something to the effect), that foot-braking while climbing obstacles that lift a tire off the ground will force the ABS-system to stop the air-bound wheel, thereby transferring power to the wheel on the ground, that has traction. So - when you climb over terrain where a tire becomes airborne, if you carefully footbrake, the brake caliper on the high tire will transfer the power down the axle/differential, and the tire on the ground will then pull the truck along. I don't think I've seen you guys do that in this rig. It works in mine, probably similarly to many other vehicles.
How often does one actually get stuck in hills ? Come to Finland or Russia, try the tundra on a snowy winter day, or even better, on a wet, sucking, muddy day..... That's the test !
Guys you're great! I've been following you since your beginnings and I have to say that I really enjoy and love your work and your adventures. I really love the fact of a father and son getting together as a team as well as the other guys that I can see that instead of an institution, you're a family. God bless you my friends. Keep up the wonderful job!
The main ingredient it's lacking is articulation and a very vulnerable fuel tank. The Hummer did a lot better than I expected. I remember when that was the truck everyone wanted! Great video.
All of the H2's off-road clearance specs were equal to or better than the H1's! Took mine on part of the tank course at Ft. Bragg, NC and it held its own.
You are so correct, any truck with that weight will have similar consumption. Reliability was tops on mine, never had a problem with 187.000 miles on the teller.
It’s really nice to see someone giving the h2 it’s kudos. I owned and h1 and have been out with many h2s over the years and these trucks are super capable.
I don't know why people even hate this tracks. It looks so nice especially yours guys the color, wheels, everything looks really nice. I would love to have one for my family.
Great video. These trucks are so much fun to drive! From 2003 to 2006 we’ve had three H2’s and two H3’s. I’m personally a huge H2 fan but don’t like the H3. Still have one 2006 H2 running strong with over 300k miles on the original motor. The first set of breaks lasted over 200k.
Your Hummer H2 videos inspired me to go and buy an H2. I love my rig and it does better than expected off-road as well. Thanks for the great reviews and congrats to Andre becoming the new owner! It's definitely a passion worth sharing.
This clears the Air after the Doug DeMuro video, even the hood handles are practical, although not designed to be air dropped like the original H1, it is very effective as a handle to lift the hood
Love the direction of the channel. And its satisfying seeing your channel grow little by little. It takes massive commitment and willpower to build a channel like this. By the way, good video!
thank you, thank you, thank you. I get so much shit for my hummer you have no idea. This is what I got it for and I love it! I have a lift on it and my tires are huge but it has never left me stranded or stuck anywhere so far. I go to Moab often xxx
Let's face it though the transmission is not great by today's standards. What I mean is that with basically every truck now coming with a 6 speed automatic the 4 speed from '03 - '07 really shows its age.
It's truly garbage. Breaks all the time, the MPG is a joke, it's mediocre at best off-road, and the interior looks like it was forced into it with a pick axe and a shovel. If you want "a real" Hummer, get the H1.
I actually rented one from Hertz back when they were all the rage. I had flown into St Louis to see a friend and we got to talking about taking a trip out west. He had never been west of the Mississippi River more than 100 miles which was weird since his house was a mile from the river. We each had a couple weeks off of work so the next thing you know I was at the STL airport Hertz renting an H2. I brought it back to his house and proceeded to remove the running boards and disabling the gps tracking system. Moab or bust! Having a barely street legal 1st gen Toyota pickup crawler at home with front locker, rear spool, 5:1 low range, propane kit, 35” MTRs I was prepared to be underwhelmed. To my amazement it was very capable. I was even one of the last people to do the original Lions Back before it was closed for good. The H2 was as at home in Moab as it was on the streets of Aspen and Telluride. My only complaint was lack of power on the interstate when bucking 40-50mph headwinds. I think it had the 5.3 liter.
I was rolling down a dark road when a yellow H2 ripped by me. I searched H2 and came upon this vid. Glad the TFL boys came through. Imagine what this rig would do if equipped with front lockers? Would be sick!
I want one now... your videos have won me over. I've had 2 Chevy trucks in the past (loved them) and have wanted an overlanding rig for a while now. I think this would be a super fun weekender.
I have a corvette with less than 30,000 miles on it and I just got an H2 with 163,000 miles on it. It looks very similar to this one in the video and I like driving this big thing even more than my Vette
I was never a Hummer fan but you guys have totally given me a new look on them after seeing these videos. I'm so glad that Andre decided to buy this and it will still be in the TFL family. I'm still bummed at the loss of the Raptor. (Will there be H2 rescues in the future?) Now...... please do more videos with the Scout.
I love these Moab videos! I'm with Roman, it's one of my favorite places to be. I've been there twice, the 2nd time 3 weeks ago. I took a day off rom mountainbking and ran Fins last year in a rented JK Rubi, it was a blast! This year I was not so lucky, busted myself up pretty good mountainbiking before I had a chance to get a Jeep. I'll heal, and I'll be back next year! (I did get a ride in a Jeep though, 2 girls in a JKU were nice enough to drive me into town and to the ER from way up the mountain on Sand Flats Rd)
When you guys posted that little teaser last week with the surprise buyer, he was my first thought. You could tell he loved it from the beginning. Cool seeing them off road.
Dam that thing sounds good too. Always been a hummer H2 and H1 fan because I guess Im wierd. I love square shaped trucks like the hummer, full size bronco, and k5 blazer. Just absolute behemoths. I've always wanted a Eddie Bauer 96 fully loaded bronco, black and tan. Maybe some day.
Great video guys, that H2 is growing on me all over again! What real world MPG do you guys get? 100 mile MPG loop at a steady 65-70 mph (without towing would be great).
If you ever see a H3 with a manual transmission, Please get it.. As good as this thing is as a 4x4... I get the feel the more nibble H3 will be that much better! We need the tea test at 2:50 everytime you shoot angles and talk about how hard it is to see, Roman. That's crazy steep. What's Gold Mine Hill and the Ike like?
Link? No, not of these lines. I don't think you've been to Moab. It isn't one trail, my friend. I'm sure lots of cars can do some of it. Don't try to equate that to true 4x4 vehicles, they just don't exist in the same hemisphere.
Ha ha I agree Doug is a dumbass for his public slam on the h2 . These suvs are way better than they ever get credit for. What kills them is all the dumbasses who bling em out ! Lift em sky high and take em off road . A kathulu belongs in the ocean not a swimming pool lol!
I love the hummer lineup. I feel if gmc brought it back today, they would sell better given gas is cheaper, flex fuel is more common and they make very fuel efficient v8s now.
Having the wheels close to their respective ends does seem to really help the approach and departure angles. Problem with something like a truck - you have several feet behind the wheel that still has to clear. Great fun guys.
Awesome video. I think a cool way you could show us how steep hills are could be with a magnetic leveler attached to the out side of the vehicle. Or a plum Bob in the cabin. Thats simply a string with a small ball or aomething on it to show it move when the vehicle is uneven.
Love these off road videos! Tommy should have brought his jeep for a showdown! I want to see this old beast put up against new tech. Hope Andre keeps it awhile.
This thing is amazing off-road. I would have to say that they are better than H1s because of the H2 has solid axles whereas the H1 has independent suspension.
Having first hand experience with the "H1" (military versions) I can tell you an H2 cannot compete with an H1 ever in terms of off road ability. With the civilian ones being much nicer inside the only mechanical differences are that you can get an H1 with a Duramax and Allison trans. Other then that the springs are a bit softer.
The H2 is a great truck. Tons of room, rides smooth, and is capable. I was out in Arizona and did a Hummer tour of a canyon. It was the experience that got me into offroading. The thing went places a lot of the people who diss it would never try.
That wasn't a hummer tour. But I got to see the new military concepts. So I'm biased.
Ryan Martinage nice!
I felt a little disheartened when Doug Demuro bashed this vehicle. Glad to see a proper review of this rig for what it was built to do, which doesn't include mall crawling. Thanks and Cheers guys!
Edward Shin Doug was being a little bitch in the Hummer review. He didn't prove anything.
The next video after this in my app is doug's hummer review.
The only thing he was right about were some of the fake exterior designs and the interior
Edward Shin well doug was actually right about the h2 it is a whackass suv
doug is the type of guy to eat soup with a fork so don't stress over what he has to say about it.
Hummers are so underrated. Celebrities only buy 'em for status, but this is what they were made for. Love the testing.
Agreed 100%
I have a 2006 H2 and cpl of Jeeps ...

No way in hell the new Land Cruiser could ever outperform an H2 offroad.
You obviously know nothing on the topic, so I would advice to take a drive in both then come talk again.
And I'm not just talking outperform, I'm actually talking murder.
GM should make an updated version. 😀
Ronny D. B. Lopez couldn’t agree more dude

@@sesarman man, thanks.
Just looked it up and I was wrong!!!
They did "F" it up WAY more.
I stand humbled before blatant stupidity 😠😮
@Tofutaco I guess GOVERNMENT motors couldn't get the government out once in!!!

yes! Used to take my H2 into the hills in Nevada never once have gotten stuck 👌🏻

How often does one actually get stuck in hills ? Come to Finland or Russia, try the tundra on a snowy winter day, or even better, on a wet, sucking, muddy day..... That's the test !

Thanks for the kind words! Much appreciated.
Really enjoyed this video!! Love what you guys have done to the H2! I would love to see more Hummer videos.
The main ingredient it's lacking is articulation and a very vulnerable fuel tank. The Hummer did a lot better than I expected. I remember when that was the truck everyone wanted! Great video.
I absolutely love this channel and when stevie ray vaughan came in on the soundtrack, you guys keep up the great work
All of the H2's off-road clearance specs were equal to or better than the H1's! Took mine on part of the tank course at Ft. Bragg, NC and it held its own.
That thing's a beast ! I have a whole new appreciation for the H2.
I love my h2. Duramax and Allison changed the vehicle to the next level.
JoeyNice The Savant nice! Did you do anything else cool to it?
Where did you do the conversion? Predator inc? If I may ask, how much was it?
Finally, the capability of this car is revealed. Good testing. Keep going.
Hummer H2's are very off-road capable! Very reliable too. Most people think the MPG sucks but it isn't bad.
You are so correct, any truck with that weight will have similar consumption. Reliability was tops on mine, never had a problem with 187.000 miles on the teller.

Most hated truck? They are so spacious on the inside and the 6 liter is badass.
Greenies hate the H2 with a passion.
Let's face it though the transmission is not great by today's standards. What I mean is that with basically every truck now coming with a 6 speed automatic the 4 speed from '03 - '07 really shows its age.
Only car critics hate the Hummer.
Even 6-Speeds are seemingly getting a little dated. 8 and 10 speeds are the new thing now.
It's truly garbage. Breaks all the time, the MPG is a joke, it's mediocre at best off-road, and the interior looks like it was forced into it with a pick axe and a shovel. If you want "a real" Hummer, get the H1.

That was fun to watch. Impressive!
When you guys posted that little teaser last week with the surprise buyer, he was my first thought. You could tell he loved it from the beginning. Cool seeing them off road.
I wish somebody could produce licensed, updated H2 bodies for the current gen tahoes
Why not bring back the whole brand???
@@dt7751 It happened 💯
It's not a Tahoe.
It's not really a Tahoe mate
Imagine how confused GM was when people took this absolute monster of offroader to grocery stores and malls almost exclusively...
Congratulations Andre 👍🏽
Great share men . Always look forward to the videos .
Now that the Raptor is gone, Andre is going to have to put a winch on the H2 to rescue Toyota's in the winter!
Good joke.
Jason Quaile rescuing a Toyota 😂 from what
If you can get to Toyota
the H2 ain’t shit compared to a camry
That's a guy who never has driven a Land Cruiser ...
Congratulations, Andre!
itll be a great companion to his Duramax :D
nice he got it in the shop before buying it for the steering stuff.
YESSSSS ANDRE!!!! Now he has my TWO favorite trucks!! What a beast!!
You guys to GREAT videos. I"m HOOKED, and THANK YOU!
Love the video. I have an 05. Love it Can you put a link to where you got upgraded suspension kit? Thanks!!! Trucking awesome video.
TFL = The Fast Lizard?
Nice purchase Andre!!! Take care of it and have fun with it. Great video guys!!!
Thanks for the ride guys!
Still love our H2 from day 1...13 years ago
The best video in this channel so far. Guys, make more like this. Old off-roaders please!!!
Excellent video, very happy for Andre to have the H2!
I'm happy you guys put white letters out on your bfg's, they look great on that monster! Good stuff my friends!
Great video guys, that H2 is growing on me all over again!
What real world MPG do you guys get? 100 mile MPG loop at a steady 65-70 mph (without towing would be great).
Please stay tuned for a H2 vs Big Green MPG loop.
Awesome, thank you guys!
Mine gets 12.5 MPG
If you ever see a H3 with a manual transmission, Please get it.. As good as this thing is as a 4x4... I get the feel the more nibble H3 will be that much better! Then again this H2 is really good.. those approach angles are really amazing on a production truck.. I would not be surprised if they where the best ever of all time.
10 mpg +-10%
In an apocalyptic scenario, I can get away with its very capable off road use, plus with an EMP shield, there no stopping me, I can bug out
It really looked like you guys had an amazing time Roman and Tommy. Awesome video. I loved it.
Love the Hummer videos...congrats Andre!
On my 4th Hummer since 2003, won't drive anything else. Quickly becoming a collectors item. Getting hard to find under 80k miles. Love em!!!
We need the tea test at 2:50 everytime you shoot angles and talk about how hard it is to see, Roman. That's crazy steep. What's Gold Mine Hill and the Ike like?
I never considered full size spares as possible obstructions till this video. Very interesting and entertaining video! So much #epic
I would recommend you all to copy this link and tweet it to Doug 😂😂😂
D T Poor Doug had a personal vendetta against the H2
This thing is capable, but let's not forget that stock Crown Victorias have ran this trail with no issues.

Doug, the type of guy to hold a pee bottle instead of tea while decending!
My kind of people in these comments. He's so stupid that he goes out and rents a piece of crap that has been abused then rips on it.

Buy an H3 now and do a review
6:49 I actually jerked as if I were about to be hit by the truck. 😂😂
Awesome playlist of the hummer. Can’t wait for more upgrades.
Always enjoy these father/son adventures.
Wait Roman, "It never let us down." Pretty sure I recall that thing being towed on a flatbed...
What is the name brand of the tie rods you purchased? Looking to upgrade mine.

You guys should rig some sort of liquid holder while doing these climbs, so hard to appreciate the hill.
GOD DAMN! The H2 looks like a monster. I'm up in New England and would love to try an H2 on the trails.
Cool old trucks. Thanks for showing people what they're capable of.
MORE HUMMER VIDEOS PLEASE AND THANK YOU! #MERICA
Are there parts of fins and things that if you can’t make it you can go around it?
I think if you guys deflated the tires just a wee bit it would have done even better! Great vid. Love this thorough front and back exam of the h2
Doug Demuro needs to see this video.
What tie rod kit did you put on your H2 and where can I find one? Link please?
Fins and Things is always fun to hit up if you’ve never been off-road in Moab.
Wow that's impressive, is the suspension stock? Do you plan on deleting the air ride?
It sounds amazing!
Congrats Andre, that's a badass truck!
Are Mud Terrain tires really OK for rocky trails?
Of course Andre bought it -- he's quite the GM fanboi :P
Impressive. And guys, it's not about mpg when four-wheeling, it's about smiles per mile.
Looks like Fun! Congrats Andre!
Traction control 2 is meant for mud and allows for more wheel slippage. Don’t use it on rock. You would have had a lot easier time in some spots!
SWEET!!! Congrats' Andre!!!
Can you do a video of the H2 vs the Power Wagon
I like the intricate ice tea test. I will write it down to remember. Great video!
I like the bottle of iced tea display of the steep angle. It puts it in perspective in my opinion 👍😏
