I was part of a North American archaeological team that spent the summer of 1983 in Israel. Although the site is in Israel, our HQ and camp staff were based in East Jerusalem. By the end of the season, after travelling thruout Israel and (occupied) Palestine, even our crew members who were Jewish witnessed what would be defined as apartheid against the non-Israeli population. And this was before the Wall was built! I encourage anyone to visit the area, and tour both the occupied territories, as well as Israel proper. Talk to the locals, stay in a hostel, ride the (segregated) buses. Yes, there were decrepit public transit buses, with no a/c for the Palestinians, and new, modern coaches for the Israelis. Just one example of how things were when I was there.

Bud, there are no segregated buses. There are various companies that operate fleets. Public transportation companies in any society are dependent on the viability of their business model. Anyone and everyone can ride Israel's Egged and Dan buses if they pay the fare. Ditto for Israeli Railways. If there are decrepit transit buses in places like Jenin and Ramallah, it is because those companies don't earn sufficient revenue from fares to upgrade their fleets. It is economics; not mandated segregation.
Well I live in South Africa and experienced apartheid and the country's rebirth. There were the Bantustans, the segregated facilities, the forced removals, pass laws, laws against association and marriage across race, also race classification was law (it still exists today officially). But the biggest land grab was before the Nationalists of 1948. In 1913, the Native Land Act of 1913 limited blacks to only 7% of the country's land and they were dispossessed of their farmlands by the government. So way before apartheid was given a name, there was apartheid as it is now defined. But there never were walls that are 3 x as high as those in Berlin straddling the country. My brother was posted there in East Jerusalem and he eventually had to find a way to get reposted out of there because he couldn't deal with the abuse of the Palestinians, and the general aggressive vibe from a lot of the Israeli people towards outsiders.

It's antisemitic the moment other countries are not afforded the same criticism being direct towards Israel. Statistically and factually speaking, the UN, Amnesty and any other political/international organizations have a reputation of singling out Israel for human right abuse, while failing to recognize (or at least address in the same manner) a number of countries and leaders who are serial violaters of human rights, some to a higher degree than Israel. I agree with you that many people take criticism of Israeli government and policies, or even mere solidarity with Palestinians as antisemitic, but at the same time it's also important to be mindful of where that criticism stems from. Many critics of Israel (including many influential people in theses organisations) are openly antisemitic, deny Jewish people's right to self determination, or fail to acknowledge the fact that Gaza and Palestinians in the West Bank are currently being governed by a terrorist organisation and a tyrant whose been in power for over 15 years, respectively. I have seen this Israeli apartheid behaviour for a very large part of my life. (Born in 1947) At first I became a pro-Israel person due to the Israeli propaganda in my country, supported by many pro-Israel people in Dutch radio and TV. Later I started to realize that I was wrong and that the facts on the ground proved a very different story. My personal experience with many Israeli’s became more negative, since when the subject of conversation was the treatment of the Palestinians, they reacted fanatically immediately accusing me of being an anti-semite, referring to the Holocaust and indulging themselves in the victim role. This agressive attitude made me more careful before entering any conversation about this subject, since it usually leads to unproductive behaviour like accusations and shouting down, something that looks like they were tought to do this. Now it took since 1948 before I finally hear the truth! Great job by Amnesty International! I think international measures like putting pressure on Israel is needed to make them give-up their Apartheid policy! I wonder whether I will ever see that happening.

You are correct, there are Palestinians inside Israel, and they were there before Israel was even created. And that’s part of the problem. Israel worked (with the help of many other countries) to divide us into 4 categories so we are not United and speak out. The 4 categories are explained in the report ( Jerusalem, West Bank, Gaza, and Pals in IS). I for example live in Jerusalem, have to pay full taxes and fees as an other Israeli, but NEVER get any rights or services, I don’t have citizenship am considered a refugee in my own country. The Palestinians living in Israel have varying opinions, but many of them don’t like that they have to speak Hebrew, leant Torah in schools and be forced to obey Israeli system. Remember, this land was inhabited by arab Palestinians, and Jews came to it from all over the world, but that’s not the problem, they are welcome, just not at the cost of ethnically cleansing us from our own land. My father's childhood friend, his brother died in prison because he was driving outside of his "designated area" to get medication for his mother. He was arrested and died in prison. To this day his mother doesn't know. My dad's friend told his mother that he is living in America. She died two years ago not knowing the truth. He was arrested in 1978. When they asked what happened. They said he was beaten and succumbed to his injuries. They never gave back the body. I was there when he told my father what happened. And I could see in his eyes, he was numb to the grief now, because so many of his friends are dead.

I was part of a North American archaeological team that spent the summer of 1983 in Israel. Although the site is in Israel, our HQ and camp staff were based in East Jerusalem. By the end of the season, after travelling thruout Israel and (occupied) Palestine, even our crew members who were Jewish witnessed what would be defined as apartheid against the non-Israeli population. And this was before the Wall was built!
I encourage anyone to visit the area, and tour both the occupied territories, as well as Israel proper. Talk to the locals, stay in a hostel, ride the (segregated) buses. Yes, there were decrepit public transit buses, with no a/c for the Palestinians, and new, modern coaches for the Israelis. Just one example of how things were when I was there.

Well I live in South Africa and experienced apartheid and the country's rebirth. There were the Bantustans, the segregated facilities, the forced removals, pass laws, laws against association and marriage across race, also race classification was law (it still exists today officially). But the biggest land grab was before the Nationalists of 1948. In 1913, the Native Land Act of 1913 limited blacks to only 7% of the country's land and they were dispossessed of their farmlands by the government. So way before apartheid was given a name, there was apartheid as it is now defined. But there never were walls that are 3 x as high as those in Berlin straddling the country. My brother was posted there in East Jerusalem and he eventually had to find a way to get reposted out of there because he couldn't deal with the abuse of the Palestinians, and the general aggressive vibe from a lot of the Israeli people towards outsiders.
Unfortunately it's not a healthy society when it's that racist, they say they are a democracy and I'm listening and looking around me I soon realized except for few who say the truth it's a case of mass bipolorasim and after a while they become numb thinking it's normal and it's not .

It's antisemitic the moment other countries are not afforded the same criticism being direct towards Israel.
Statistically and factually speaking, the UN, Amnesty and any other political/international organizations have a reputation of singling out Israel for human right abuse, while failing to recognize (or at least address in the same manner) a number of countries and leaders who are serial violaters of human rights, some to a higher degree than Israel.
I agree with you that many people take criticism of Israeli government and policies, or even mere solidarity with Palestinians as antisemitic, but at the same time it's also important to be mindful of where that criticism stems from.
Many critics of Israel (including many influential people in theses organisations) are openly antisemitic, deny Jewish people's right to self determination, or fail to acknowledge the fact that Gaza and Palestinians in the West Bank are currently being governed by a terrorist organisation and a tyrant whose been in power for over 15 years, respectively.

I have seen this Israeli apartheid behaviour for a very large part of my life. (Born in 1947) At first I became a pro-Israel person due to the Israeli propaganda in my country, supported by many pro-Israel people in Dutch radio and TV. Later I started to realize that I was wrong and that the facts on the ground proved a very different story. My personal experience with many Israeli’s became more negative, since when the subject of conversation was the treatment of the Palestinians, they reacted fanatically immediately accusing me of being an anti-semite, referring to the Holocaust and indulging themselves in the victim role. This agressive attitude made me more careful before entering any conversation about this subject, since it usually leads to unproductive behaviour like accusations and shouting down, something that looks like they were tought to do this.
Now it took since 1948 before I finally hear the truth! Great job by Amnesty International! I think international measures like putting pressure on Israel is needed to make them give-up their Apartheid policy! I wonder whether I will ever see that happening.

You are correct, there are Palestinians inside Israel, and they were there before Israel was even created. And that’s part of the problem. Israel worked (with the help of many other countries) to divide us into 4 categories so we are not United and speak out. The 4 categories are explained in the report ( Jerusalem, West Bank, Gaza, and Pals in IS). I for example live in Jerusalem, have to pay full taxes and fees as an other Israeli, but NEVER get any rights or services, I don’t have citizenship am considered a refugee in my own country. The Palestinians living in Israel have varying opinions, but many of them don’t like that they have to speak Hebrew, leant Torah in schools and be forced to obey Israeli system. Remember, this land was inhabited by arab Palestinians, and Jews came to it from all over the world, but that’s not the problem, they are welcome, just not at the cost of ethnically cleansing us from our own land.

My father's childhood friend, his brother died in prison because he was driving outside of his "designated area" to get medication for his mother. He was arrested and died in prison. To this day his mother doesn't know. My dad's friend told his mother that he is living in America. She died two years ago not knowing the truth. He was arrested in 1978. When they asked what happened. They said he was beaten and succumbed to his injuries. They never gave back the body. I was there when he told my father what happened. And I could see in his eyes, he was numb to the grief now, because so many of his friends are dead.

The only apartheid going on is in Muslim countries , you’d be beheaded if you are a Christian . There is no such thing going on in Israel

Nobody can come and remove from their house anyone in Israel, unless one is not the legal owner of the house. Unlike with evictions in the US, if you are removed from a house of which you are not the owner, you will get another place to live, you will not remain homeless.

All very reasonable, but I fear that Mr Hasan is the token exception that underlines the general rule in the US media (and across most of Western Europe as well). And if you really hold to principles of anti-racism and common justice then you do have to challenge the legitimacy of the Israeli state since its inception in 1948. Israel was always built on the principle of putting Zionism into practice, and Zionism is a racist, ethno-nationalist, political ideology (whether or not it includes the religious element) that holds that one racial groups (Jews) have superior rights to others by virtue of their tribal/racial inheritance. Anti Racists are, without exception, anti-Zionist BY DEFINITION, and by the same token all Zionists (and their supporters and enablers - that includes all US Presidents since Harry S Truman) are apologists for brutal and murderous racism that has seen hundreds of thousands of deaths and millions dispossessed and pauperised over several generations. If anyone wants to study another parallel to current Israeli Apartheid then I strongly recommend the excellent film 'Conspiracy' which dramatises the Wannsee Conference of January 1942.

The terror state and persecution of the Palestinians is reminiscent of China and Northern Ireland in the past. Stealing land a lack of hope and opportunity fuels the problems the country has.
