    You did the swirl pretty good but you need longer hair on the sides for slicking back in a semi circular motion, mainly for covering the swirl from the middle portion of the left side part. It should look like the pomp is gradually going higher from the rear cowlick towards the front. Otherwise your head will look weird from the side(experience)
    Like you said, head shape also matters, one should have wide forehead, or make it look wider. In my case, I thought my forehead looked small, then I realised that I had some hair grown on the corners of my forehead which ruined the side profile, shaped it, and now it looks way better. (I realised that my hair is almost same to that of Elvis, the part where that natural swirl comes in the front, my hair is wavy but not so thick)
    Thanks for the Video mate 🤠

      Yes you are probably right. I'm not emulating Elvis hair here. Just my own. You should show us your hair! (sorry for the delayed response)

    To do the Elvis Swirl, I've been using Lockhart's goon grease and it won't allow my hair to swirl, it's too stiff. Can you recommend a pomade or hair product that's best for the Elvis swirl?

    • @Tom_le_Grand
      @Tom_le_Grand  7 лет назад

      No I'm sorry. Pomades just works different with each person. Maybe you should try a medium?

    How long did it take you to get the top that long? And what do you normally tell your barber when you get a haircut?

    • @Tom_le_Grand
      @Tom_le_Grand  8 лет назад

      +Zeus113 I would say 6 months. and you can go. I have the luxury that I don't have to tell him much. He knows what I want. I usually keep the top the same length and he thins it out some. Further more I ask him to tidy up the back and keep the sides just long enough to slick back. 95% is done with shears so I don't have any clipper guide numbers for you.

    • @Tom_le_Grand
      @Tom_le_Grand  9 лет назад

      +Klaas Reinders Hoi Klaas. Tja dat is een beetje moeilijk te beantwoorden. Ligt een beetje aan wat voor stijl je wilt, wat voor haartype je hebt en wat je eisen zijn aan een pomade. Als op facebook zit, meld je dan even aan bij de Dutch Pomade Collective. Daar zitten een hoop mensen die je een eind op weg kunnen helpen.

    Hoi Tom,
    Gave video. Eindelijk weer een video die me wat inspiratie geeft.
    Ik vroeg me eigenlijk af wat de beste lengte is voor zo'n typische Elvis kuif en een ducktail. Mijn haar komt nu tot over mijn mond en is boven op en aan de zijkanten ook heel erg lang. Is dit te lang? Het lijkt wel goed te werken maar toch nog afentoe wat probleempjes. Mijn haar is heel dik en er zit veel slag in. Wat is de beste pomade die ik kan gebruiken? Ik heb al gelezen dat de wat lichtere spullen (die ze vroeger gebruikten) wat beter werken.
    Wat zijn jou tips?

  • @luis42691

    What pomade did you use for the "Elvis Swirl"?

    • @Tom_le_Grand
      @Tom_le_Grand  9 лет назад +1

      Luis Montanez Cocktail hair. I had the dirtiest hair ever. Didn't wash anything out in 10 days. If I can remember correctly it was a mixture of American Greaser Supply Super 90wt, Sweet Georgia Brown Blue, Murray's Black Beeswax and Dax Neat Waves. But you can do it with any pomade that will give you some hold.

    good video I mean but elvis didn't make this hair style.. RUclips (Elvis IN THE BLACK COMMUNITY)FIRST VIDEO ABOVE... I mean he do sing have blues rite? my point exaclty.. black & white pomp..

    • @Tom_le_Grand
      @Tom_le_Grand  8 лет назад

      Hi Marquel. Thanks for your input. With "Elvis hairstyle" I (and a lot other people) mean the way Elvis combed up his pompadour. It does not mean that he was the inventor of the pompadour. Because he had a cowlick along his front hairline, it swirled up in a specific way which made his pomp unique. That is what I tried to mimic with the comb.

    • @Tom_le_Grand
      @Tom_le_Grand  9 месяцев назад

      That depends on what you are putting in. You can always use something water based. With the more traditional greases you just build up and wash it every 10-14 days.
