That "Know When to Stop Combing" step is crucial. Don't know how many times I've messed up a perfectly fine styling job trying to fix something I perceived as an imperfection
Yeah it is one of the most important steps. I can ruin a perfectly fine pomp. You almost never get it perfect but you'll learn in time when enough is enough.

What kind of length on the top and sides do you need for this style? Really interested in this style.
Oh no not the million dollar question again! You need a lot of length on top. The sides long enough to slick back. Ask for long trim, low tapered pompadour.

Well the only thing you can do is sit that one out. Are your sides too short? Or is everything too short?
@@vetkuif sides are short. I kept a decent length on the top because otherwise it just looks silly
@@lucasjohnson6254 Yeah I remember when I had a disconnected cut with a shaved in part. It took me at least three months to get back on track. Once you have a bit of length you can try use some gel type pomade to glue it to your head but there is no way around awkwardness haha. Just resist the urge to take it all off again when you look like an idiot (in your own mind) and be sure that your barber only cleans up your neck and around your ears.

Do you dye your hair or is the jet-black collor all yours?
This was dyed to my "original" Asian color haha. It used to be very dark brown/black. With age it has started to fade away to grey. I dyed it for 4-5 years and I hated the every six weeks redo. So since PANIC-19, I freed myself and I'm back to half brown/half grey. In the video it looks more jet-black than it was because of the color correction I did in the edit.

It's all in the Orange-Teal color correction of the video. Also the light shining on my hair is daylight while the camera was set on tungsten. That setting makes daylight blue. My hair has a more brown color in real life.

Hey I missed this one. Yes I dye my hair. It used to be my natural colour but it faded away with the years ;) I use a blend of Clairol Nice 'n Easy No Ammonia Hair Dye Dark Brown 79 and Black 83. It takes some practice to get it right. Also the colors in the video have been graded in a teal-blue setting so what you see is not representative for how it looks in reality.

Work it out with your Barber. He knows best. Or ask 'The Pomp King' on youtube. ;)

Depending a bit on your hair type but for many people blow drying helps a lot. Search for "blow drying pompadour"

I think it depends but this is definitely not a beginners do. Styling pompadours is no rocket science but it does need lots of practice to get it right. Some will never get it this way but you can still learn a lot from these techniques.
Do you die your hair. it seems to have a blue shine
I actually do dye it BUT it looks very natural in real life. The blue you see comes from the teal - orange color grading that I did on this video. Unfortunately RUclips compression messed it up. The original video has a much warmer orange color with teal highlihts.
Not saying it doesn't look Natural because it looks great! I have black natural a bit like you and I want to get a blue shine like Your self and Elvis Presley etc. Maybe I should add a bit of blue or something.

When you go to the barber shop, how do you ask for your cut?
@@andresrodriguez8336 That is because most gels harden up when they dry. I some cases I prefer it . But most of the time I use oil-based pomades. That keeps it soft
@@andresrodriguez8336 My hair is already in a good place so I don't have to ask for a real specific thing. Just cut of a little at the top and tidy up the sides. If you want to slick your sides back ask them to keep it long enough.
