Hi Chris another top quality selection,on a personal note off marquee I’d have picked “guiding light” just basically on sentimental reasons from when I first heard it…a long time ago…keep up the sterling work mate
Fantastic selection of tracks my friend . Also it would make a really good punk album . We are all a bit fed up of theses punk compilation albums that come out and there all the same ( joe jackson ) brilliant mate
Some great choices. Some of those i don't know. I'm So Bored With The USA love that track even though i've never had any such notion toward it. And the story continues...i've kept on finding singles from your punk singles videos; Ruts Babylon's Burning, Eton Rifles, Dutchess. So great to find these, some of which i didn't even knew excisted and now i have them. Hope my luck continues. Pasi
Really enjoying the choice of tracks and look forward to checking them out. Sadly I only have 4 of the LP's as money mainly went on 7"s. I do have an original Pink Flag though. would have included Suicide by Suicide for Frankie Teardrop! Keep them comin. Cheers Ian
@@TheVinylOrchard Chris,do you like any of the more recent 'punk'? The genre has changed but there are occasional intriguing new bands particularly those classed as 'Powerpop'. I have really enjoyed Babyshakes for example.
Interesting selection of LPs. I always think of punk in terms of the singles, especially in '77. Marquee Moon was terrific all the way through and, for me Leave home felt like a singles compilation, Guiding Light and Suzy Is A Headbanger being my favourites. I liked longer tracks so Police And Thieves and Down In The Sewer were favourites. Thinking of other possibles, I respected, rather than enjoyed Pink Flag. I remember buying The Boomtown Rats 1st LP on the strength of their single and really, really disliking it. I tried to enjoy Rock n Roll With The Modern Lovers. Couldn't 🤣. Oh, and of course Art School 👍 but Away From The Numbers is also cracking.
Some fantastic albums you've got here thanks to RUclips I'm really starting to dig Eddie and the hot rods I love that album life on the line television marquee moon is a darn near perfect album my track that I'm choosing is elevation fantastic guitar work on that album tom Verlaine has some decent solo work to for the stranglers I would go for the no more heroes and I would choose the insane epic closer school man that song is disturbing but brilliant
Good choices in there. Always thought Bodies was The Pistols most aggressive track until I saw them play Problems live 🤯 so that's my pick. As is Janie Jones, extra points for being a great opener. Like Holidays in the sun, as soon as i heard it I was on a new trip 👍🍻
@@TheVinylOrchardNo the opposite not shambolic at all, they could play, very tight. The second they booted Matlock & brought the idiot in they were doomed.
some great choices, a big american element i notice! you say about blondie and the jam being 'not really punk' i find all this so tiresome, they were all a big part of it and you can argue (as some people pointlessly do) til the cows come home about this, it is not important, there are those who say the stranglers weren't punk but anyone who was there will tell you different, they were a massive part of 77 punk ok so they had a keyboard, their music wasn't 100mph but the attitude was soaked in punk and musically they were close enough, costello and dury are both huge parts of 77 punk as well despite not strictly speaking being 'punk' i'd throw in petrol by the vibrators, good personality by radio stars, garageland by the clash, something off rocket to russia(can't remember all the tracks i'd have to have a look, ha ha) but rockaway beach could be on it! dagenham dave by the stranglers, controversially where's it gonna end by skrewdriver(not getting into all the nonsense about them suffice to say they were just another punk band in 77), i'd maybe put iron horse in by motorhead off the first chiswick album which can be counted in my opinion, also prison bars by radiators from space, all good fun and massively nostalgic, in fact i might play some of my old classics (including a mint original of pink flag) tomorrow night, great stuff, thanks
Just watched the albums you held up so you might have mentioned this. IMO Talking Heads, Blondie, Dictators, Television and Ian Drury are all not punk. In 1977 you also had albums by The Boys and Radio Birdman, real punk music. And no Pink Flag songs? (Maybe I missed it)
They aren’t punk for sure but certainly part of the scene. I showed the boys at number 10. Mentioned Wire right at the start. I don’t have Radio Birdman
100% agree Bodies what a track the whole album sounds better as it gets older 👌
Masterpiece
Great albums great choices Chris! Got me digging through the collection! 👍
Enjoy! Cheers Ian

It would definitely it up!
Superb list Chris. I should start doing some of these lists. I was just spinning that Eddie and the Hot Rods. Super listen. Way to go~

Good luck with your hunting Pasi
Just found your channel and I’ve gotta say it’s excellent
Thank you so much for popping by my friend. Cheers, Chris
Got most of the albums, but I miss the Roxy London album. It made an uforgettable inpact on me😊
Great comp
Bodies was the first track I played when I got the album home from the record shop, I was 14 and wanted to hear the swearing!
And swear the song certainly does
Like Stranglers "Bring on the Nubiles"!

Wire jealousy! Suicide were far far too weird for me
Excellent collection agree with your number one and most of the top 5
Thanks James!
Thanks Chris. Really enjoyed this.
Thanks for watching Tim!

Always struggled with a Bob Geldof. Bit of a dick really.
There were some great new wave albums. Cheers
Love your stuff Chris
Bless you Leslie
Great list and I can’t argue with #1.
It’s a classic! Her name was Pauline, she lived in a tree.

Would love to have seen the Pistols. Shambolic I guess but iconic.

Never really liked Bodies. My choice would've been Problems, one of my very favourite Pistols songs.
Great song
EMI !
@AVIARYCOURT especially the raspberry at the end!

I agree. I see it all under pretty much the same banner hence some of my choices. Some fabulous choices there. What an era!
Didn't Damned, Damned Damned...
Come out in 1976...? 🤔
New rose did. The LP was 77
