For about 15 years a friend and I would hold a yearly massive sale. We would rent a building in town (we both lived in the country). We would set up for a week. Sale would be Thursday 4-9pm, Friday 7-7 and Saturday 7-3. We would pack up remaining stuff after 3 and on into Sunday. Our sales were massive - imagine a building 40’ x 120’ full of stuff. And yes, everything was marked with price and initials of the seller. (We sometimes had friends and family sell stuff too). We always had a line up of people waiting at least an hour in advance. We sold stuff cheaply and would usually do at least $4000 in sales. That friend passed away in 2018 at the age of 46. Man do I miss her. RIP, Karmen! 💕

As both a 9-5 worker and a night owl, I am all for night time garage sales being a thing! I think people are just so used to the old days of driving around early in the morning looking for garage sales, but with most traffic coming from online ads now I think it is a totally viable and refreshing option. Might even get some foot traffic from the neighborhood, just looking to get out and have an evening stroll.
In Texas, garage sales are held during the daytime because kids are in school. Shoppers drop 'em off at school, then make the rounds. Ditto if you're running the garage sale... no kids to deal with. That's also why they wrap up around 4:00 p.m.; the school bus is dropping the kids off. And even though I'm an empty-nester now, I don't think I'd be up for a nighttime sale unless it was mega-sized. I don't like driving in the dark, it's less safe, and hubby doesn't like being left home alone.
Hello Josh, my garage sale suggestion is have the first day of your garage sale in the evening and the remainder days in the morning. Keep up the good work.
Love your show. Have to tell you those lovely shelves you have are totally adjustable. Just lift each shelf and move the black holder up far enough to fit the lids with space to spare. I use those shelves to raise worms and anytime I need adjustment it is easy peasy. Does take two people. Best of luck and continue to have fun.
Why not name the bins after characters from something like The Office? Each would be unique and you could have a humorous photo of each character on each along with a quote? For example, you could have a Michael Clump complete with the ' I si, I si, I sit on you!'
Neat idea, but you'd waste more time searching for the right picture. What's wrong with good old numerological order. You will automatically go in the right direction to the right tote. Not trying to be rude. When I pull sales I don't want to waste more time searching for the tote then having to search in the tote.
@@deathvalleyfinds7076 I get your point but the photo would be as large as the number and be easily recognisable - especially if placed in a specific order (alphabetical by name for example). I guess it all depends on a number of factors as I would personally find it easier
Bin naming: the obvious easy answer is AA, BB, CC, but I hear you about fun creativity. I used to buy a lot of delinquent storage units and most storage places had their Buildings and doors marked: building 1 (Or A) and then unit 1, 2, 3, etc, but my favorite facility had their buildings marked with state names. So you got a unit in Hawaii, or Montana, Alaska, etc. much, much more fun.
Night sales are a fantastic idea. But as a frequent garage sale seller, I know that my area has a rule that the sales must end before 5pm. This might be NJ thing but I can imagine they don’t want this happening at night for safety reasons.
I'd totally go to a nighttime garage sale just to get all the stress from school out before going home. Also, I agree with the other comment about using characters for your bins. Solid pickups on those Peloton and Disney-esque shoes. Change is hard for people. The psychology behind it is a whole can of worms, but garage sales being in the morning is just part of that expectation. Though, to be fair, a novelty like having a night time garage sale is appealing in many cases. You gotta wonder how good it is for lighting and for people to see the things they're purchasing. More work for you as the seller at the garage sale if you have to put up lights and whatnot.
I agree. I live out in Arizona and while temps are solid for night time garage sales, the problem is lighting out here and signs. Most communities out here don't have street lights and the HOAs want all residents to use their garage lights as street lights for driving, making it usually dark and hard to see. So while a night time garage sale sounds perfect and ideal, I think for some communities its not worth. Also I'd be careful as I'd think your more op for thefts and shady people with a night time garage sale. Now what could work is an evening sale. A bit after dinner hours, say 6ish and go till around sunset, depending on area. So 8ish. I don't think people want to garage hunt during dinner hours, but you never know.
@@UrSammich and then I live in south florida.. where in the evening hours you will be tortured outside through the free entertainment of mosquitoes and whatever bugs & beetles zip by. So I stay indoors early on..

Finish yalls new bins with the alphabet. Then start a number system. Never been a reseller persay but it would make sense to me. I was born in the early 70s and have always loved finding things at Garage sells, thrift stores and even curb side. I was a early flipper way before the internet. Golf course names for your bins ? Be careful with those Mickey shoes if they are not authorised you’re opening up a whole world of pain Love the drone - looking forward to more of that !
I'm a Minnesota Native and I always think it's interesting that in the south people can have water heaters outside. You guys are so entertaining (I love thrifting and think I'm going to start some re-selling, too).
Love the ending with the drone. You should start shooting closes with drone in different locations. And I really thought your close was gonna be “we are hoping to get 200K subs but hey the sky’s the limit as you soared over the neighborhood” lol
There are a lot of good ideas here for your bins … I’ve seen bins labeled as AA, BB, CC once Z is reached … another or additional option could be Aa, Bb, Cc
Night-time garage sales is absolutely genius! 7pm to 10pm are my peak mental operating hours! I would absolutely attend any and every Night-time garage sale I could if they became a thing.
I had to make dated bins to help with my deathpile. Kind of like FIFO (First In. First Out.) dating for food. I'd date them by week. If I had anything in the week 3 bin, I had to list it before my week 1 items.
Here in Minnesota it is pretty common for garage sales to start on a Thursday or Friday afternoon after schools get out and run through the weekend. It is nice
I think you should do the entire rack a number, then letter the bin and then number the shelf it’s on. For example. 1-B-3 would be 1st rack, bin B 3rd shelf. Whether shelf’s count from up to down would be up to you. Then you could reuse the alphabet because your new system would require numbers which your letter/bin system does not. Just a thought. Great video thanks for the content!
Friday evening sales are normally good. Its kinda like a preview sale as you are not as pressed to sell for dirt cheap because you still have Saturday to sell as well. I highly recommend doing Friday evening and Saturday morning.
Love the idea of night time sales. I would be able to go thrifting alot more! People who work weekend days never get to go to garage sales. Love your videos!
Evening garage sales sound like an awesome idea! Not everyone wants to be up at the crack of dawn for one it’s so cool that people are starting to do them late in the day. Garage sales don’t exist over here at all that might inspire me to be a trend setter put a few tables out my front garden and see if I can start a movement haha!!
U can always reposition ur shelf's to move each section up 1-2 inches per shelf and u will have enough space to still use with tops & u can use double letters for new bins AA BB CC etc.
This. You want a system where you can easily find the correct bin. Anything named after The Office or any other naming system will not be intuitive. AA, BB, … or if you plan to seriously grow, assume your existing bins are A1, B1, C1… and make the new set A2, B2, C2 …
Skimmed through the comments on bin ideas. So your main options are to extend the alphabet (AA, ...) or name them after characters, shows, etc. which is more fun. I'd say if you go the fun route, keep it alphabetical and shorter names are better. Less to type into the SKU.
Wow I love how you live in an area with so many trees. It looks so beautiful 😍 Night time sales sound so much better to me. I hate having to get up early especially on weekends
I suggest label each shelf individually with a letter. Like that first one is shelf A. And of you have 10 bins on that shelf label the bins A1, A2, A3, . . . A10. Next shelf over would be shelf B and bins B1, B2 etc. So label the shelf then the bins per shelf
Our town often has Friday afternoon or evening garage sales. They are only a few hours, 5-7 or 8, etc. I didn't know other places didn't. It's great, especially at this time of year when the weather is getting cooler and mornings are chilly.
When we used to have yard sales. We always ran ours on Friday from 9am to about 7pm. Everyone got paid on Fridays and would stop on the way home. Then Saturday we did 9am . People sleep in later on Saturday. We were known for our good yard sales.
Y’all always remind me of us leaving our three huskies to go thrifting. I have said that too. I want Sunday sales. And night sells too, I do Saturday sabbath so I so love a Sunday sale. Went to regular goodwill today. In a higher end neighborhood. Got good stuff. Of course payed more. But we only have one bins that’s an hours away, and no going in that direction until next week. Now we list. And clean out our inventory. Trying to get organized. Leslye
A few years back went to a new years eve garage/ tag sale/ fundraiser. It started at 9 pm and ran til 1am. Had a great time and found some great items, was truly amazed at the number of people there, bringing in the new year rummaging through OPJ (other people's junk).
Im Dallas there is a garage sale every first Saturday once a month starts at 9pm and goes until 3am and it’s always packed . Super weird but lots of fun. It’s under a bridge with a ton of vendors.
Hey Josh, just a heads up with naming your bins. I would suggest to keep it as simple as possible. If you don't you will spend more time hunting for the retro rick bin and the commonwealth picker bin. There are better ways of giving these guys a shout out. Love your videos.
I love the evening yard sale idea! Why didn't I think of that?! So much better! I think you should collect postcards from viewers and collect one for each letter A-Z. For example: A could be one from Aruba, Agentina, or Arizona. Just use the first one you receive from each letter. That way they have cool memorable label but are still in order.
Yes, love the idea of garage sales starting in the evening instead. For the bins suggestion, I like using the State abbreviations and just keep adding alphabetically as you make more bins.
I think since you had at one time kept track of where your fans were located . You could name your bins after states, city’s , or towns your fans are from. We could also all send you stickers from our towns to stick on the bin.
I'm all for night time garage sales. I work full time and sell part time on Ebay and I work dayturn every Thursday Friday and Saturday. So I am all for a night time sale..have it like 4pm to 8pm or 9pm.. I'm in. Love ya guys. Stay safe and God Bless.
I'd love the evening sales---so much better for those who work mornings or want to sleep in on week-ends so I think it's a great idea. Suggestion for bin names is to use a food name...Apple, Banana, Cucumber, Dates, Eggplant, Figs, Grapes...etc. I really enjoy your videos---brand new subscriber here.
I love the idea of a garage sale in the afternoon! I've always wondered why garage sales are always early in the morning. I like sleeping in on weekends. The also like the idea of naming bins from different youtubers. it would makes things a bit more fun...... but this would add time to list each item since youll have a longer SKU to type out. Keep it simple for efficiency purposes and just add number to your bins...... A01 B01 ect. And to make it less boring you can start naming bin sections after other youtubers like you mentioned. Bins labeled with "A" is also called the Commonwealth Picker section and Bins labeled "B" can also be called Froggy Flips section ect. Its still fun while still keeping it simple and efficient. What cha think?
i think a night time garage sale is one of the best ideas. my work alot of the times require me to work during the times that yard sales are going so night time would be perfect.

We have a fairly short garage sale season in the Midwest, so a lot of times folks will do Thursday night preview then Friday & Saturday. Love it!
You should name the bins after the categories of items then alphabetize them. Like electronics, hats, pants, shirts, shoes etc
I thought that was real marble just by how heavy it looked while you moved it around, definately a good find + a Trevlin fan is priceless
As big of fans of the office u and Haley are, u guys should name the new bins after characters from the show. I think that’s be really cool and creative
Finish yalls new bins with the alphabet. Then start a number system. Never been a reseller persay but it would make sense to me. I was born in the early 70s and have always loved finding things at Garage sells, thrift stores and even curb side. I was a early flipper way before the internet. I can't get out anymore as I'm taking care of my 95 yr old Grandmother and Grandfather. I really. iss the hunt. Love the channel young man. I watch every video you do along with Cheap finds, Froggy Fiips & Phoenix Resale. Good luck to you and your family on this endeavor.
Golf course names for your bins ?
Be careful with those Mickey shoes if they are not authorised you’re opening up a whole world of pain
Love the drone - looking forward to more of that !
Lol what a missed opportunity
@@HairyTornado not missed, delayed. U can still do it 🍅
There are a lot of good ideas here for your bins … I’ve seen bins labeled as AA, BB, CC once Z is reached … another or additional option could be Aa, Bb, Cc
Night-time garage sales is absolutely genius! 7pm to 10pm are my peak mental operating hours! I would absolutely attend any and every Night-time garage sale I could if they became a thing.
New containers can be named as AA, BB, CC...etc once reached to ZZ start with AAA... :)
I had to make dated bins to help with my deathpile. Kind of like FIFO (First In. First Out.) dating for food. I'd date them by week. If I had anything in the week 3 bin, I had to list it before my week 1 items.
The ending drone shot was so Cool!
Yay! I'm first... I think lol
Here in Minnesota it is pretty common for garage sales to start on a Thursday or Friday afternoon after schools get out and run through the weekend. It is nice
In Canada we normally start our Garage sales Friday afternoon/Evening. 4:00-8:00pm. Then go on the Saturday and Sunday during the day.
Love the night time garage sale idea. Its crazy how all the garage sales are the same days and time. Like the sales that are Thursdays and Mondays too
I think you should do the entire rack a number, then letter the bin and then number the shelf it’s on. For example.
1-B-3 would be 1st rack, bin B 3rd shelf. Whether shelf’s count from up to down would be up to you. Then you could reuse the alphabet because your new system would require numbers which your letter/bin system does not. Just a thought. Great video thanks for the content!
Label them after dessert names!! But you already have a BaldyPal Picking sticker if you go that route!! 👍👍
Will you send me a sticker for my shipping table? I’m decorating it with fellow channels logos. I need one of yours too, Josh and Hailey!
Our small towns most popular garage sale time is 4-7 Friday nights Love it!
Thank You Josh, Hayley & Mose from the UK - We appreciate You !
It looks so beautiful 😍
Night time sales sound so much better to me.
Where do you buy the long boxes for golf clubs - both irons and woods
I would pay for a space on a bin, an advertisement space 🤣 - “Banana Lana Shops” Bin OR do the states…
There's an idea! Lol
I love that idea!
Yeah Josh, how much for a spot on a bin?
Great idea!
Hey Josh, just a heads up with naming your bins. I would suggest to keep it as simple as possible. If you don't you will spend more time hunting for the retro rick bin and the commonwealth picker bin. There are better ways of giving these guys a shout out.
Love your videos.
You have my support! You will hit 200,000 in 2022! You guys are the best! I binge watch all your videos😁
Already made it!
Thank you for being fair when making purchases!❤
I love the evening yard sale idea! Why didn't I think of that?! So much better! I think you should collect postcards from viewers and collect one for each letter A-Z. For example: A could be one from Aruba, Agentina, or Arizona. Just use the first one you receive from each letter. That way they have cool memorable label but are still in order.
I really enjoy watching you and your wife working together.
On the bins idea-I was thinking like AA BB CC but i really like the idea of the Reseller stickers. More exposure for EVERYONE!!!
Love the drone shot 👌
Yes, love the idea of garage sales starting in the evening instead. For the bins suggestion, I like using the State abbreviations and just keep adding alphabetically as you make more bins.
I really enjoy the videos. You guys are humble and approachable. We need more people like this.
Love your videos 💜 I have an idea for you for labels… start next set … AA, BB, CC, DD or A2, B2, C2, D2🥰
What cha think?
you can always go with a tankless water heater it will take less space by the way you have a big backyard can also add another shed for storage
i think a night time garage sale is one of the best ideas. my work alot of the times require me to work during the times that yard sales are going so night time would be perfect.
I just started watching your videos and I really Enjoy them. If watch one of your videos I always get into a better mood thank you!
I never thought about a night sale ..I'm going to try it! I will let ya know we are having another one in 3 weeks😊
to answer your question. I was very successful at garage and estate sales until I had a stroke a year ago. Combining the damage from the stroke with my agent orange damage, I had to give it up. really miss it
I used to work for Cutco, their products are pretty expensive, and they come with a lifetime warranty to whoever is in possession of them. The cutco spatula spreader is a multi-tool, cutting, scooping, spreading and is that long and shape to reach the bottom condiment jars.
Great video!! I used to install water heaters in Canada. All the water heaters I installed were in house installations. It would have been easier to work in someone's garage to do the installation. Thanks for sharing Brother and Sister 😀👍♥️🇨🇦🇺🇸🎉🎉🎉🎉👏👏👏👏🎉🎉🎉🎉💯💯💯💯💯
Name for Bins after cars such as Gremlin, Vega, Pinto, Yugo, Edsel, Tucker, AMX Eagle , Javelin etc. Agree on night time garage sales! Like the drone footage
My grandmas church (in a wealthy suburb of Detroit) would have their rummage sale twice a year. First day it started at 6pm. Mark up was 30%. When I say there was a line to get in… I kid you not… people waited with their lawn chairs for hours. The line probably started at 3pm.
Here in Arkansas we have mosquitoes that will eat you up as soon as dusk falls. But the afternoon/evening sale in a building would be awesome.
I would do the bins with short catch phrases. I love you so much bin, you’re the best bin, etc. Might have to borrow from others to get 20 though.
I Love it when you tell Mos "Love you so much!" It makes me smile every time. Sorry if I spelled his name wrong. 🙂🙂
