OMG I think I caught a ghost opening the door at 0.31 on film, I keep sensing something behind me have done all week!!! Ekkk a bit freaked at the minute!
My first silver find was a 1943 Mercury dime, black as could be. I scrubbed and scrubbed with silver cleaner cloth with no results. Thanks Dawn, i will add the baking soda/boat step now!👋👍😙
Hi Dawn. Great video. In the numismatic world the coin you cleaned is what we call junk silver. It's value is in the silver melt. But their is a personal value to you in the time it took you to find it. To me that's is big part of coin collecting. Looking through coin catalogues, auctions etc., to find a coin.
yeah I know thanks for saying that, you wouldnt believe the comments I get sometimes , Ive found practically blank Victoria sixpences and been accused of damaging its value by rubbing mud across it with my thumb 😂😂😂😂😂😂 it all comes down to having some knowledge, im a keen coin enthusiast in in lots of coin collecting groups, I just can afford them
Great video Dawn. I use a paste called 'solvol autosol' from halfords. Its a metal polish but is extremely fine and doesn't mark or damage the surface. It also does a great job on Vicki pennies! Keep safe.🙂
Hi Dawn, your advice was just what i needed to know, went on my first dig and got a Queen Mary 1553 groat in pretty good condition,so will leave it as i found it,thanks.
Wow that's brilliant you wouldn't think it would clean that well I've always wondered how you make your coins look so clean thanks for sharing. See you in the next.
Nice, good result. We don't have the Silvo with the wedding here but we do have the liquid bottle. I like to get a few silvers in my tumbler using stainless steel shot, cleaning vinegar & a dash of dishwashing liquid. Coins come out looking brand new.
being a coin collector myself i spoke to my coin collecting friends prior to releasing this video, they all agreed that the coins i was suggesting to clean were only worth silver scrap value and what sort of shine they had made no difference.... uk coins that are worn or damaged from 1800 to modern are not collectable and quite common, i wouldnt want to comment on usa coins as i know nothing about them,
@@DiggerDawn I'm in Australia, recently moved from suburban Melbourne to Central Victoria in the Goldfields. Soon I'll be buying a GPZ 7000 & detecting for gold nuggets. Keep an eye out cause I'll be posting vids .Cheers funny lady
@charles hedberg don't rubthe coin, don't clean the coin!! I'll do whatever I want to my coins. I don't need people like you telling me what's what with the stuff I find.
Thanks for the great tips for the bling effect on the silver coins .... haha the door opening was very creepy .... but as Diggy wasn’t bothered it can’t be a ghost haha as cats and dogs meant to be able to sense them haha 😆
Great vid. There are restoring services with the grading companies. You know what they do? They clean the coins lol. Electrolysis for a short time is what I hear they do, then a short bath in acetone. GL and HH
Very good dawn but if i was you i'd use cotton wool instead of kitchen paper trick i learned cleaning brass in the army soft cloth and buff with cotton wool
Loved that Dawn, just 2 things, A,hope you disposed of your tinfoil responsibly so we don’t see digging it up on your next video, and B, I’ve got a silver neck chain, do you think the baking powder will work on that?
Well now I was doing that wrong! I had too big of a pan and I didn’t boil it! 😬 and no Silva! Can ya get that stuff on amazon? My only barber dime was in a fire I believe and has black stain on it! Thanks Dawn, I’m gonna give it another go cause I like silver to shine🤩 Be safe and HH ⛏🎧
If you are in the USA, you can use Flitz, chrome and metal cleaner. Break out the Dremel tool and a polishing mop, put the flitz in the coin, not on the mop, wear old clothes and eye protection.
Don't panic you probably have a window open upstairs and your patio door is open its the wind not a ghost 👻 the silver has come up nicely dawn i bet your kitchen didn't smell too nice afterwards though 🤪🤭 oh! So that'll be why there's a window open 😁take care😊👍
Come out very well that Dawn its a good method that think its like air bubbles that cleans it 👍👌😃....you got a thumbs down from a chunk ....coin must have melted 😂...strange with that door how old is your house ?

Creepy that door opening on its own Dawn 😧 a ghostly presence there to reclaim its lost silver maybe 😕 Thanks for sharing your cleaning tips 👍😀 HH Tony
Leave it in olive oil over night then wash it off in hot water and for copper use p h up a light acid just get off the dirt and brings them like that have just been minted
the thing with coppers is you need a bit of a patina to work with but yeah ive got some great copper clean ups, next time i get one that will come up ill make a video :_)
Your are a doll.i love watching you.if your married never mind.as you say over there I fancy you .so pretty. Sorry I had to get that out. Great videos love them
you would be better off using a sanding disc and grinder it would be quicker. Now take that sliver of leftover silver coin and throw it in the melting pot. The kindest thing you could do dear.

If the coin is valueless, a silver polishing cloth is much quicker and less hassle. It does an excellent job!
Agreed in most cases, but some bad conditioned coins like that one wouldnt clean at all
Dremel and a polishing mop is even faster 😃
Thanks lady for the class on cleaning coins
You are so welcome
Thanks Dawn. Your channel is by far my favorite. I love how you diversify your content along with your coil necklace pendant 👍

yeah this is the method for those coins that resist cleaning by all other methods, good luck
Digger Dawn cheers dawn, I honestly thought it was a crusty copper until I got home
I use a rock tumbler with stainless steel shot, just add lemon juice. Run for 1 hour ..rinse run again with soap and water.
my methods under 10 mins :-)

They are very compact and cheap ,useful for all metal items good investment.

Years ago, I heard that cola soda pop cleans silver. I don't know whether this is true though.
coke strips everything its an acid, leave overnight and it would, this method does it in under 10 minutes
How do you clean clad coins?I can never get the truly clean and shinny
its depends what they are, I find that composite pencils from cleaningpencil.com do the job well
What about Ultrasonic cleaners?
i was showing a method that cleans in under 10 minutes with cheap household items :-)
Loved that Dawn, just 2 things, A,hope you disposed of your tinfoil responsibly so we don’t see digging it up on your next video, and B, I’ve got a silver neck chain, do you think the baking powder will work on that?
