Thanks so much for watching, and the sub - much appreciated. Yes, it was definitely a no lose experiment with this coin, and great fun to do...I would definitely feel confident doing it with other coins now too. I spotted your most recent offering on here yesterday, so look forward to watching soon. Take care, Marcus
Thanks Cynthia, it was mildly terrifying but so pleased it worked…good fun & always nice to challenge yourself I think! Thanks for watching, hope you’re safe and well x
Well done Marcus a very confident coin straightening video. I dont think I would have the same confidence but that coin is perfect for a test run. Thanks for sharing. ATB
Thanks Jacqui! That’s what I thought…think I wouldn’t have been so confident if the coin was worth saving! Thoroughly enjoyed it but was also mildly terrifying too! Thanks for watching
Hi Marcus , Definitely worth a go you have nothing to lose, Like you said it was just a crumpled piece of silver , Thanks for showing how you do it and showing what tools used . All the best 🍻👍👍
great work there my mum does my hammered only because she used be a jewelry and did it as a profession but she always did great results and it easy once you know how too. great information video 😉👍
Thanks mate - I loved it although it was a bit scary - made better by knowing it was kinda ruined anyway. Ooh, you're lucky having a jeweller for a Mum...nice and easy to get your coins fixed then! Thanks for watching, hope you're having a good week x
That coin was really really beaten! I have seen annealing videos before but they were using very nice examples of hammered coins and doing it bit by bit very painstakingly
Yes mate, I think if it was a coin worth saving then slowly slowly is the way to do it. I did end up reheating it another couple of times to get the final kinks out, good fun! Terrifying too!!
Fascinating how to Marcus. Very interesting. You are hired my friend should I find any similar to that one. Not sure I would have the confidence to try it myself but I suppose if its of such rubbish condition why not. Cheers 😃👍
Thanks Dave mate, it was a tad terrifying but I knew whatever happened it wasn't really going to affect the coin too much. You send me your bent hammered's my friend, I'll sort them out!hehe Thanks as always for watching, have a great weekend!
Nice work on the hammered coin turned out great video thanks for sharing new subscriber to your channel helped me out alot and happy hunting and catch you on the next one 👌🇮🇪🤝
@@Notchedto11 yeah I just found a hammered coin last night looks like scot with a long cross and a star in between each line of the cross any idea what it might be before I try and straighten it out
Hi Marcus, this is the first video of yours that I`ve seen, and very imformative it is too, thanks. I have a Hammered that`s bent nearly flat, so this will be useful. A quick question: Do you use Bleach diluted or undiluted before applying Foil, or does it really matter? Keep the videos coming! You have a new Subscriber!
Hi there, and thank you so much for watching and subscribing. Hope you enjoy my digging videos! as for straightening a nearly bent flat coin, my advice would be to take your time and not rush. do a little bit at a time, and keep taking breaks. You don't want to force it. As for the bleach, I used undiluted and it took just a few seconds. Good luck, and thanks again! Marcus
Hi Marcus , couldent have put it better mate that's more or less exactly how i do it with the same tools , i have tried all the other methods more like old wife's tales 😁 because none of them worked , anyway well done mate a good demmo and a good video take care mate ATB Rob 👍👏
So pleased it followed the same kind of process as you Rob! Thoroughly enjoyed it, although mildly terrifying too!! Good fun! Thanks for watching mate!
Awesome mate, ya braver than I am 👍 Me being me I would have ended up with some semi decent cut QTRs 😂 Joking aside, well done and an interesting insight into straightening out a coin that could otherwise live to tell another tale mate 👍
Thanks mate….I was desperate to give it a go….just in case the inside would help ID it…..was great fun & slightly terrifying! The fact it made it to RUclips was a result in itself!!hehe
Yeah I bet the ole sphincter was twitching together with some stomach adrenalin kicking in and shaking hands and all that 😂The closest I have come to trying that was with a half bent Lizzy with plenty of reverse detail but very little obverse, so decided to take a gamble. Method I tried was steaming the coin in a sieve and then gently rolling a wooden spoon into the creased area. It worked a treat but again my arse was twitching like a good 'un 😂👍
I’m told that annealing works for silver and gold BUT gold should be air cooled before bending rather than plunging it in cold water first….process the same though! Thanks so much for watching & hope you’re lucky enough to have a good hammered…if in doubt definitely seek pro advice! All the best. Marcus
Hi. I would never attempt to straighten a gold coin without expert help. The annealing process still applies to gold, but of course you could easily ruin the coin if you over-do it. My suggestion would be to speak to a good independent jeweler for help with it.
Thanks so much for watching, really appreciated. Just a bit of fun this one, with a badly damaged coin, but enjoyed the process! Hope you enjoy the rest of the videos, and really appreciate your support! Marcus
Oooh, I just need to find a manky bent-up old hammy I can try it on now! Great instructional video. Love it. ⭐👍
Thanks buddy!! Best you go find one, I’ll keep my fingers crossed it comes out perfect for you but, if not, you’ll know what to do 😉
There is nothing to lose when the coin looks like that . Great job 👏

Well done on the bravery mate I was so expecting that to snap the state it was in so you did really well. Hammered is hammered!
Had to be worth a go!! Think my coin was so extremely bent that a ‘normal’ bend would actually be quite simple to do!! Thanks for watching mate
@@Notchedto11 turned out great mate!
Your confidence was awesome to see, Marcus! I think the hammered is now perfectly lovely! At least, as perfect as it can be! Well done!💖

Awesome job Marcus it worked that's the main thing well done.
Thanks John mate! Good fun!!
How that coin didn't split down the middle is beyond me Marcus. Well done mate.
Haha!! I was convinced it would split but fair play to the process….it definitely worked!! Good fun & mildly terrifying too! Thanks mate

Is it the same process for gold hammered do you think ??

That was pretty bent Marcus I normally use the hot water method but I think in that case it defo needed heat 👍
