I would love a full weather system. Perhaps one that could be toggled for those who don't want it. But having varying rain, lightning storms. Things to just add that bit of immersion and element to bring the world back alive. I loved the rain before. My only quip was that the cloud cover never lined up with it. You had these rice rolling clouds that grew dark and... nothing... and then that passed and you would gain clear skies and then a downpour. If it returns I would love this fixed up.
Toggle would be good because, even at low settings, I'm sure it's a huge performance hit considering all the moving stuff on belts, etc, that would have to project the wet texture
The rain looked SO good though!
Made the game lag like shit though. There was no way to fully turn it and the wet floor textures off (which had some forced reflections) so lower end PCs just couldn't handle it.
Darn! Weather was so cool to have!
Relatively new to Satisfactory but I look forward to the day that rain and weather get reintroduced. I'd argue that the atmosphere it brings (no pun intended) is worth the effort
For an open world, meteorology is so important. Please bring it back. "It didn't add anything to the game but atmosphere". Oh buddy, atmosphere is so important to an open world. It's like saying "paint doesn't add anything to a house" yet 99.9% of homes end up painted. I would hesitate to undersell the value of immersive, environmental effects.
I'll never forget the day they added weather to World of Warcraft back in the day. Stranglethorn Vale was one of my favorite zones for the open-world PvP. The day I was rolling through there and a rainstorm thundered through the trees while I was hunting other players, it elevated the experience to another level. I cannot overstate the value of weather in the open world. Planet Crafter is a little game that recently released and when meteors come rushing through the skies and crashing all around me, it's epic and changes the entire experience. It breaks monotony and gives the world a dynamic and living vibe.
I miss the rain. It was a nice touch to keep things interesting over the many hours (OK, hundreds of hours) that I have put into it. I hope it gets back to the top of the list after 1.0.
I'm scottish so always risk an injury from the eye rolling that happens when a game has "weather" when all it generally means is that there's lots of (vertical) drizzle rather than anything close to actual rain nevermind full blown weather.
I used to live on top of a hill so my walk home from work frequently consisted of it raining sideways.
I live in the US midwest and I like the fantasy of gentle rain falling straight down in the desert zones. It's just so much more relaxing than real rain. Wind blowing it in my face. On my bike. Uphill. At 50F (10C) when I dressed for 90F (~32C) earlier that same day.
Kind of sad there was no fog too. Fog is a whole vibe for me. I can't explain why I'm not sad there isn't snow, though. Maybe I can't suspend my disbelief about snow being pleasant when the reality is always tiny ice knives shooting directly at my eyeballs.
@@seichhornchenidk why but snow is incredibly pleasant for me
I liked the rain. I hope it comes back.
Please please do at some point! Rain is such a VIBEEEEEEE
I hope rain returns one day.
Fair point that it's not a priority, but I'd really love to see it return. For instance I made a couple glass viewboxes on the top of my factory building where I can stand and sip coffee while watching the rain outside 😊☂️🌧
*That's the best answer he could have possibly given in any universe*
The rain looked so damn good.
rain would be really nice to be honest. it adds a lot of atmosphere and thats actually pretty important imo
Imagine how cool it would be if there where storms with lightning. Imagine seeing during these storms lightnings hitting the space elevator.
Hmmm... I need to post something to the QA site.
I hope you guys can get rain in fairly soon now that 1.0 is out! It's something I always long for in games with explorable worlds, it feels very lacking when there isn't a possibility for rain. It soothes me and would help me get over the rough spots of pacing around trying to plan and create my factory. ❤
We Want Rain!
Yes. If you can please bring it back. It was at moment pure poetry
I saw rain once, it was back in the early sixes and youngster it was marvelous.
Yeah weather is something that would be nice, it adds so much dynamicness and style to games.
I wish someone would make a mod to bring back rain in the meantime.
Maybe even add snow, since they're not planning to add any snow biomes but there's already snow particle effects for the FICSMAS snow machine...
I bless the rains down in Blue Crater...
For many of us, rain is a priority! Weather is all. I hope it will return soon. Great game, love it. Keep up the good work.
Weather should realy be an addittion after 1.0 for sure...it adds so much vibes to the game.
That's a shame that rain broke... 1.1 rain/weather update, mayhaps? 😅
THE RAIN... iw been wondering why the game felt like something was missing. its the rain.
i hope yall get it figured sooner rather then later but with all the cool stuff in the works it really isnt that big o deal
Atmosphere is like half of satisfactory.
imma be honest, i remeber rain coming out, it looked really really good, but i totally did not notice that it wasn't in the game anymore lol
:(
Petition to add rain back!! I understand if it's not a priority for y'all, but I just wanna voice how much that one "little" feature meant to me. Things like that add so much to a game for me when they're done well. I legitimately LOVED whenever rain would start and I would just stop and enjoy it.
Imo, immersive fluff like that is super important to create a game world that people (who are like me at least) want to spend lots of time in. The rain made me really want to build an enclosed factory so that I could just hang out inside when it rains and see/hear the rain outside and just feels cozy, especially mixed with the rhythmic sounds of all the machines... Ahhh that's bliss to me lol
thank god
i really wish we had weather in game, rain, sandstorms, fog etc
Please add rain again. Was nice
How is rain/weather not part of the unreal engine already? Genuinely interested.
The rain was good, but it rained way too often in the dune desert.. it would not have been a desert with this much rain.
I've watched some of your videos. And in all of them, I only listen: NO, NO, MAYBE, NO.... So exciting...
Rain coming back im 2.0?
Imagine making rain for coffee stein studio just to get broken by their immediate switch to UE5. 😂
That's a downer. Rain was really cool honestly.
That’s sad news! What is a game if not for the immersion and atmosphere 🤭
Damn still finding new ways the unreal 5 upgrade feels like a downgrade, I understand why they did it, but everytime I experience a stutter now i think back to pre update 8 with fondness
blind melon approves
rain was awesome
doesnt UE5 have a built in weather system for its engine? Why not just use that?
It's not a one button toggle, and they would need to spend time testing and optimizing it for different systems and builds, do a pass on how it affects lighting etc. This is doable but right now they're a small team trying to finish the core features of the game, so spending those limited resources (people, time) on a nice-to-have side feature that doesn't add anything to the gameplay is wasteful right now
I think weather is a huge win in a game like this, immersion is important for sinking yourself even more into your world
This is a very outlying opinion, but I prefer not having rain in a game like Satisfactory. Having a visual effect in my face often becomes quite annoying, especially if the storms happen too frequently. I like to see what I'm doing without my FPS taking a slight hit.
That being said, if they added a weather system with toggleable components (visual and audio) then I think I'd be a lot more inclined to seeing rain.
unnecessary feature in the vanilla game, maybe through mods...
I always find rain annoying in games (unless scripted in) and usually just wait for it to stop so I can get on with playing. I live in England, I don't need any more rain in my life. Sunshine forever.
I was glad when rain was removed, it looked nice but every time it was raining and I tried to dismantle stuff my game would crash with an error about foundations and "is wet" variable
I am so sad about rain. I understand the reasons but almost wish we just hadn't gone to UE5.
the map feels dead without weather - pretty, but static, like walking around in a painting
Boooo. Weather is the only thing that made the world feel more dynamic and more alive.
Too bad :/. I'm a sucker for shit weather in games, so this might have made me buy the game (I now that reasoning is probably pretty outlandish).
*_So you mean to tell me, that moving to the newest engine (that wasn't mean for games, but for movies and cinematics, mind you) actually BROKE more mechanics and features than you were ready to fix/patch?_*
*_Damn, it's almost like we would have had 1.0 out SOONER, with features that still WORK, had you have stuck to your UE4 guns and FOCUSED on finishing the game._*
*_Sounds like a bad decision in the production and dev process to me, chief._*
