  • The fastest hands in the East meet the biggest mouth in the West when legendary martial arts daredevil Jackie Chan teams with comedic powerhouse Chris Tucker in Rush Hour. When Hong Kong police detective inspector Lee's (Chan) favorite pupil is kidnapped in America, the dedicated cop and martial arts genius travels to the United States to find her. Unhappy to have a meddling outsider, the FBI assigns reckless, arrogant and infuriating LAPD detective James Carter (Tucker) to baby-sit Lee--and keep him away from the investigation. But these two very different cops will stop at nothing to find the missing girl.
Actors: , Jackie Chan, Chris Tucker, Tom Wilkinson, Mark Rolston, Chris Penn, Tzi Ma, Elizabeth Peña, Rex Linn, Philip Baker Hall, Ken Leung

Jackie Chan is known for doing his own stunts. In one of his earlier films he jumped onto a boat and broke his ankle. He had a cast on that foot and he painted it like a tennis shoe and just continued with the film. I am surprised that you have never heard of him. He is Legendary

Jackie Chan is an absolute legend in Chinese cinema. His use of crazy stunts, comedic improvisation, martial arts and acrobatics in most of his movies is next level. This is a dude who, in a couple of movies, used a two-door fridge to help him defeat a roomful of baddies.
.... And pretty much ALL of his movies have bloopers as part of the end credits.
Oh, yes, and he was also 'Monkey' in Kung Fu Panda'. :)

Jackie Chan is a great performer. There are plenty of domestic and foreign films with him in them. His primary martial art is a performance kung fu, but he is skilled and an expert in many forms. He always does his own stunts insofar as insurance on a production lets him, and many have been dangerous. Again he’s just great.

The Jackie Chan Stunt Team, also known as Jackie Chan's Stuntmen Association, is a group of stuntmen and martial artists who work alongside Jackie Chan. Founded in the 1970s, it originally included Hong Kong action stuntmen and martial artists, before expanding to include international talent over the next several decades.

You deffo need to see Rush Hour 2 & 3 as well. Part 2 is this time in Hong Kong, very funny.
Jackie Chan didn’t hit big time in US until mid nineties, most probably one of the best martial artists ever. Does all his own stunts, everything you see him do, he does it himself. Usually choreographs all the fight scenes too. Has made over 140 films, most of them chinese to be fair. He’s directs, writes, sings, you name it he’s done it all in the film industry, a legend. Definitely check out a few of his other movies. Has a few classic kung fu movies too from late 70’s/early 80’s for me most notably Snake In The Eagle’s Shadow.

Though formalized in France, [ hence the name "parkour" ] it might well be said that Jackie Chan invented parkour as kids around the world would imitate his stunts.
And like Jackie Chan, many wound up in the hospital. As indeed, JC has spent a Lot of time in the hospital as he does All of his own stunts. And has broken just about every bone in his body.
So yes! You should definitely do more JC movies as you will be Amazed!

Jackie Chan is the godfather of Parkour. He does his own stunts and has broken a lot of bones doing it.
The difference between Hong Kong and LA is that a good (more reserved Asian) police officer like Lee would rather arrest a criminal rather than risk blowing one up and causing collateral damage like Carter. This was filmed in the late 90's and the LAPD were hated because of their brutality in the early 90s with Rodney King. The FBI didn't fire their guns because they were too prideful and actually didn't care about the situation enough to risk getting shot at in return.

3 parts of this movie that really make me crack up laughing are:
    1. When Carter starts dancing like Michael Jackson in the middle of the street after blowing the car up
    2. When Lee and Carter are bonding and practicing disarming techniques while Edwin Starr's song "War" plays in the background
    3. When Carter says "I know that ain't the bomb. Get that bomb away from me." Towards the end

And trust me, the blooper reels for the remaining two movies are just as funny when it comes to the slip-ups with the dialogue.
Also, RIP to Elizabeth Peña and Tom Wilkinson

Jackie Chan will go down as the greatest stunt-man in cinema. The stuff he's survived will chill you to the bone (he's broken pretty nuch every bone and even punctured his 💀). Always watch the credits for the outtakes.
His career goes all the way back to Enter The Dragon (Bruce snaps his neck 😉), but I think you would enjoy his 90's work the most. Rumble in the Bronx, Who Am I, Operation Condor, and Mr Nice Guy are all great picks from his 'fighting around the world period' (Jackie visits exotic locals to film in like Australia, Africa, etc).
Also great is Jackie's Police Story Saga. 1 & 2 are good, but 3 (Supercop) and 4 (First Strike) are amazing.

He's broken almost every limb you can think of and acted in around 100 movies since the 70s, I love the old movie more (even though they are in Chinese, but some of them are dubbed to English), don't get me wrong, his current movies are amazing too, just not as good, but it's only my opinion.) In short, search for Jackie Chan movies, if you liked this one, you'll love the many, many others.

Tom is a toddler compared to Jackie...keep in mind that when Jackie originally was performing stunts, it was in Hong Kong with minimal if any safety equipment, no cgi, with bed matresses as pads and thin piano wire if it was used at all. There were no unions or "safety captains" and NO insurance company would cover him or his team. They were black listed and all medical bills and "compensation" were paid out of pocket by Jackie himself which was novel because before the JC stunt team, stunt performers were thought of as expendable and left to care for themselves if they could. Previously.. no one gave a crap about them. Jackie and these guys were truly nuts and often lived each day as if it were their last thinking "I might die today"...which he nearly did and more than once.

Oh please don't compare Jackie with tom cruise. Jackie has been doing the craziest stunt you can only imagine since 70's, falling from trees and clock tower, broke many of his bones and fractured his skull, clinging onto a helicopter without safety measurement (check police story 3 aka supercop), jump between buildings and buses etc. plus acting, directing, writing, singing, doing martial arts and being the stunt coordinator for many of his movies, so don't compare them. Tom is just the beginner when it comes with Jackie

Yeah, Hong Kong was a British colony for a while. UK asked politely if they can hold to the island for a little bit longer, Mainland China said, "No, thank you."
Macau (which is close to Hong Kong) used to be a Portuguese colony.
    C'est la vie.
Tzi Ma was in a recent American movie with Akwafina called The Farewell. It's partly in Mandarin though.

You're so well read James and you didn't know Hong Kong was a British colony??? As somebody that minored in Geography on college that makes me really sad.

Jacki does all his own stunts & if you ever watch his foreign films you'll see some close calls & injuries. Ong Bak is a great marital arts film as well, staring Tony Jaa. Another great martial artist is Jet Li & he has done some American movies you can watch on the channel.
