As a Detroiter, I'm proud to inform you that the beautiful building that was all burned out in the opening credits has been beautifully restored! Its known as the Ransom Gillis house, just outside of downtown Detroit in the Brush Park neighborhood. It was once famous for its status as an oft photographed ruin in stories about Detroits decline. Now it stands as a proud testament to my cities rebirth.

The theme song for this film is amazing, everything about the music is just super cool. Harold Faltermeyer did the theme for this film along with a few other songs on the soundtracks. He also did the Top Gun Anthem along with Steve Stevens on guitar. But my personal favourite has to go to The Running Man soundtrack from 1987. The Running Man is a blast featuring Arnold Schwarzenegger and a really solid cast of characters with a unique setting and story.

I’m definitely looking forward to the day we eventually do The Running Man on this channel. In case you ever read the Stephen King/Richard Bachman book it is based on, it’s a completely different experience, with only about a 2% similarity between them. It’s a rare case of a movie being just as good as it’s source material even though it got changed. Lot.

There's gonna be a Fourth Beverly Hills Cop movie that will be released on Netflix next year with Eddie Murphy reprising his role as Axel Foley.
Sylvester Stallone was considered to play Foley and that the movie was going to be more action packed and serious but had a falling out with the screenwriters. He would turn his version of Beverly Hills Cop into COBRA in 1986.

This movie was originally cast with Sylvester Stallone in the main role. Stallone had so many ideas about how to change the movie the script was nearly totally rewritten. The studio eventually decided to not go with Stallone of course and then cast Eddie Murphy. Stallone did ask if he could keep his new script with all of his changes and the studio did allow it. That became the movie Cobra starring Sylvester Stallone.

"Before I go, I just want you two to know something, alright? The supercop story... was working. Okay? It was working, and you guys just messed it up. Okay? I'm trying to figure you guys out, but I haven't yet. But it's cool. You fuck up a perfectly good lie."
Fun Fact: Eddie Murphy, John Ashton, and Judge Reinhold improvised most of their comic lines. Literally hundreds of takes were ruined by cast members, actors or the director laughing during shooting. During the "super-cops" monologue, Ashton is pinching his face hard and looking down in apparent frustration. He is actually laughing. Reinhold put his hand in his pocket and pinched his thigh really hard, trying to prevent himself from laughing.
Projection Headline Fact: During his tirade at the Beverly Palms Hotel, Axel pretends to be writing an article called "Michael Jackson: Sitting On Top Of The World" for Rolling Stone magazine. In real life, Playboy ran an Eddie Murphy article with the same "Sitting On Top Of The World" subtitle.
Double Assault Fact: The mansion used in the final shootout between Foley and Maitland (the former Harold Lloyd estate in Beverly Hills) is the same mansion seen in the final shootout between Matrix and Arius in Commando (1985). Coincidentally, both Foley and Matrix were trying to rescue somebody named Jenny in that mansion in their respective films.

Beverly Hills Cop II is great also. Taggart and Rosewood's interaction were often improvised and they went for an old couple vibe. Also at one point you mentioned that they had GPS on their cars. GPS did not exist back then or at least if it did, it did not have public access. The filmmakers just wanted to show that this police department was in a class of its own. High tech, clean cars and cells, etc. For another police themed comedy think of looking at "Police Academy" which came out in 1984 also.
