This is the first I've heard of this method. Pretty cool! Although I very much enjoy handstitching, I now need to see if my machine tack stitches to try your machine method. Thanks for sharing!
Kathleen thank you for commenting. I created the self-stick templates to make it easy for everyone to join in the fun. You can definitely hand stitch using the templates. I traveled though Alaska hand stitching, I think Lucy Boston shapes. Then I came home and stitched more blocks by machine. You can do it both ways. Because it is simple a straight stitch you can’t tell from the front if it is stitched by hand or machine. Your machine does not have to have a tack function. All you need to do is reverse/back-stitch at the beginning and the end of the template. If you have a tack function then your machine basically does just that for you. Can’t wait for you to try English Paper Piecing Made Modern (Easy) Thanks!!!
You are welcome. I created English Paper Piecing Made Modern templates to eliminate the time-consuming prep-work and enable straight stitching by hand or MACHINE instead of whipstitching and no papers to pull out at the end.
Absolutely, I use the 6" Add A Quarter ruler. They are available on my website sewforever.com/collections/english-paper-piecing-made-modern/products/add-a-quarter-ruler
I tried to make a purchase but could not get your site to complete the purchase; it kept changing the shipping rate and taking me back to my PayPal account so I was unable to complete my purchase.!!
Pam I am so sorry you had trouble placing an order. Are you in the United States? Please email me Becky@sewforever.com so I can help you place the order.
1. Cut the template out 2. Remove the paper backing. 3. Stick the template to the right side of a piece of fabric. 4. Trim fabric shape out using and Add A Quarter Ruler. (Cut 1 shape at a time or stack fabric and cut multiple shapes at once. You can also use the template to fussy cut shapes.) 5. Remove template from the front of the fabric and center on the wrong side of the fabric shape. 6. Add another fabric shape (no template needed on the shape you are adding) right sides together. 7. Stitch from corner to corner of the template by hand or machine, tacking at the beginning and the end. 8. Continue to add shapes to all sides of the shape with the template. 9. Remove the template and restick to a fabric shape and repeat. Does that help? Let me know. Thank you for your reply.
