    Just ordered a GTI 170, I had a modified RXT for years, but my son is a teenager and it scared me, I think the 170 should strike the right balance.
    As another commenter posted, a side-by-side acceleration test would be really helpful to see the actual difference between both skis... either way, 130 or 170 - both amazing fun rides for sure
    Also, I don't trust the spedo on the Seadoo, I always use a GPS to validate speed, that spedo is off by at least +5% in my experience

    It's not how fast it is, it's how quick it gets there.
    People shouldn't get hung up on top end speed because it's how quickly it gets to that top speed is what matters.
    Even if they both had the exact same top speed, one gets to that top speed a lot sooner than the other, and that's a big part of the fun factor when your riding one.

    • @cowlumbus
      @cowlumbus 9 дней назад

      meh...if there is one think I learned there are three people in the world on this topic. There is a whole clan of people that top speed is everything. They must be on lakes made of glass. Then there is the crowd who doesn't care about speed (or accel) because they are clueless or just goofing off doing tricks...then there is my crew which are long distance cruisers on big water and bumps. Top speed is for 3% of our journey and it's about stability and comfort vs. price but acceleration is important when we tube or (try) to ski which is infrequently. Many different people in this world.

    I have a 2016 GTI SE 130, it looks identical to your old Sea-Doo, and I'm very satisfied with the power and speed. My thought was that the 130 would end up being more reliable long-term because the engine isn't working at max capacity. As far as speed, if you are coming from an older ski (or you are used to riding in a boat), it will be plenty powerful, especially in Sport mode.

    • @ryanrake2714
      @ryanrake2714 Год назад +1

      I agree. But the Sea Doo GTR using a 230 horsepower rotax 1630 is more or less the same engine that you’ve got. The difference being it is supercharged. I bet you will be fine if you put on a tune.

    • @erkiplumer1247
      @erkiplumer1247 5 месяцев назад

      @@ryanrake2714 yepp!!! so true. 2021 with newer 1630cc rotax engine has 200hp tune for 500.- or less and that transforms this ski verymucho. Add some right hardware ontop and once letargic 130 becomes quite lively. For reasonable buck. AND IT WILL LAST, not like those boosted 300+hp beasts. Cheap to maintain. No reasons not to have one....

    The difference between my 155hp and 215hp was ridiculous. I would never buy a low HP jet ski, acceleration is way more important than cruising or top speed. The most fun is jumping waves, and you need instant torque for that. It’s why I go with naturally aspirated instead of supercharged . Kawasaki 160x does it all.

    It's an $1,800 difference between the 2, about 5 mph and a 40 hp difference. Very minimal difference in price so you might as well go for the 170. It really would come down to color preference really. I'm 6'1, 230 lbs and I can stand on 1 running board with full weight on my 14 GTI so the new hull makes no difference in weight ratio.

    Despite the difference in top speed and everything else in between (the bells and whistles), what I find a bit sweeter is my model jet ski model. The elder 10' or 11' GTI SE 130 can hit 61 to 64 mph. It obviously doesn't have sport or eco mode but the acceleration is pretty intense. While cruising in the 60's mph is very good for a water craft and years of use..it seems kinda slow compared to the newer skis that top between 65 to 78. *Don't get me wrong those are very nice skis that has/have all the latest features and I do like that a lot. My only downfall is the lighter engines inside that's 130 or 170 hp.

    Again, another great watercraft review video! I love the in depth analysis of all aspects of the product and these reviews are better than some of the watercraft specific media outlets....just saying

    If you're spending that kind of money and those are the only two color choices, I'd spend the $600. I think the blue is a much "richer" looking machine. You don't gain much in performance, but you will get most of the price difference back at resale.

      Blue or black don't show up on the water as well as other colors-
      Just something to consider "Visibility = Safety"

    Family planning on getting a seadoo and it will be three of us riding on it at same time. I am 180 and she is 110 and our child is 45 pounds. Which would be better?

    A fantastic video, thanks! :) Since my wife and I are both looking to purchase our first Sea-Doo, I'm thinking the 170 might be better to "haul" both of us versus a 130 for just one of us. Perhaps the next one will be the 130 to go alongside the 170. :D I even thought about a 230 but prefer to stay away from supercharging for our first vessel. Keep up the great work!

    I have a 2017 130 and a 2015 155 and for $600 i'd get the 155 over the 130 all day long. the real world price difference was close to $2000 when i bought mine though. and my 130 will run 52-53 mph and my 155 will run 55 mph. I personally HATE that seadoo has limited the new ones so much that the 130 will only do 50 and the 170 will barely do 55. I feel the 170 could easily be a 60 mph machine with a impeller and tune. I will be watching to see how well the polytec 2 holds up and what tunes the aftermarket will come out with. I wouldn't be surprised if with a tune the 130 could easily be a 55+ mph machine. it will be interesting to see how Seadoo has locked down the tuning.

    • @GBsPitstop
      @GBsPitstop 4 года назад +1

      @@nametaken2392 not really. they ask for HP for watercraft and i told them 130 for the 130 and 141 or 142 for the 155. the 155 is not 155hp based on a lot of online reading i have done.

    Can either the 130 or 170 pull a skier or wakeboarder? Is it legal w/o a 3rd seat ? If not, is there a light-weight Seadoo (with the plastic hull), that can pull a skier [I have a lightweight aluminum trailer, so I'd rather stick with low weight]

  • @Riley_1955
    @Riley_1955 3 года назад

    Yeah and that take off you refer too is probably because the 170 has a different impellor that is pitched for a better take off.

    Both look great, but when my 2001 Kawasaki 900 sts runs 50mph. Makes it hard to want to upgrade. I just have a little more maintenance being a 2 stroke and need to replace piston rings every couple of years. At least I don’t have to worry about oil changes. Just add premix

    • @fnatomagan
      @fnatomagan 4 года назад +1

      Change oil once a year or added premix to the tank every single fill up hmmmmmm...I'll take a the better fuel economy and more power of a 4 stroke.

    • @TFD1982
      @TFD1982 4 года назад +1

      Franklin Natomagan not all 2 strokes you have to premix our has a oil injection so it stays separate from the gas it’s a gas hogger gut 2 stokes have know to be fare more reliable( if you know what your doing)
