Lost In America: Shell Mound FL

In February 2021 we headed out on the road with no destination and a goal to see what was left out there along the small roads.
With seemingly all of America on the road, in the South, we had to work harder to find space. At the dead-end of a long road, we found Shell Mound Florida. Part of the Lower Suwanee River, Shell Mound is the site of First Nations ritual celebrations from around 400AD to 650AD with 20+ foot high oyster shell middens around a flat center.
