Love your enthusiasm. Got me back into the rabbit hole. Now I'm looking for a good but reasonably priced ready to run kit. But after watching your great content I'm spoiled for choice and can't choose. Thanks for the awesome reviews and insightful quality that I have accustomed to.
I've watched several videos of you flying beginner drones and you never stick the landing. It's almost encouraging, because it shows how much skill is needed. Anybody can still make some mistakes.
Ha ha, It is because I’m old FPV school. If you don’t know what skid pads are for drones and why they existed, then check it out & note that I land as if I was still flying in that era.
That under the table maneuvering was sweet Steve👍🏼… maybe one day I’ll be into fpv quads, for now, I’m heavy into the fixed wing stuff!!!!great review as usual sir!!
Holaaa its a clon of mi first quad, GEPRC tinyGo 4K...(i see you video to lear) Hi from Chile...thank for all you videos, i learn so much whit you, in my first year of FPV. same desing in the controller and the goggles. 😎
Many thanks for sharing Captain; great package however still enjoying the "Blue Angel" (and have ordered the basic Beta Goggles for it) its simply superb !!!
Hi Steve, I'm having trouble connecting the controller to the drone after using the controller with the simulator on my computer. I've tried the instructions for binding the controller and am then plugging in the drone battery once the controller is in binding mode. Do you have any tips or hints for me? the drone is connecting to the goggles easily. I have the throttle down but when i switch the left toggle down to arm, the motors won't start.
I started out with the beginner gps camera drones from DJI (designed to be unboxed and flown by beginners day one), then years later I tried my hand at the Advanced FPV hobby and fell in love due to it being exhilarating. It does require a bit of skill to fly but with practice your brain will lock in and you’ll be hooked.
I just ordered this kit, with 6 extra batteries. I also ordered the Hisingy Stargazer, so my son can learn how to fly FPV with me. I have 4 DJI Drones, The DJI FPV Drone, Mini 3 Pro with RC Controller, Mini 4 Pro with RC 2 Controller, AIR 2S. This hobby is very expensive.
You and your son will have plenty of fun. Flying FPV is very difficult if you have only flown DJI drones or DJI FPV drones in Normal and Sport modes… but with practice you’ll get it!
Hey y’all. I just wanna share a little about this combo. First off the drone rips and is very well built. Unfortunately I cannot say the same about the radio and goggle. The goggle screen plunked out after a few weeks and the radio antenna needs to be protected at all cost. It’s only held on the board with a few solders and they bent and snapped while in my bag. I would totally recommend the drone though.
Like you, I wear glasses. Suggestions (or a video?) for a newbie wanting to get into the FPV hobby, but without spending mega $$$ on goggles would be welcome. Great video and as always, thank you.
I started out by wearing those cheap RESTAURANT MENU READING GLASSES under my really cheap inexpensive goggles. You get such glasses at all the budget stores like Walmart or any Pharmacy. It worked for years until I could afford FATSHARK FPV goggles that had a focus for each eye. That's for ANALOG drones. Today for DIGITAL drones, the goggles are very expensive but most have a focus for each eye or you can purchase prescription lenses that go over each eye piece (again, all expensive).
Hello Steve another good video. I didn't know this was available or I would have gotten it. I saved up and just got one of those C-Fly faith mini's that you reviewed on here.. you helped me get back into RC's. I started watching you approx. 4 yrs ago and since then I get most of my stuff via your reviews. But the next thing I wanted to get into was fpv. I started with getting a dji mini flymore combo when they first came out, then a sky king rc plane then I get an horizon hobby aeroscout. I didn't see it on the show but it was a push prop like my skyking and wa8 a good easy bird to learn on from all of the reviews I read. Then someone broke into my car last summer and stole my dji mini so I wanted to get a new nini 2 or 3 but couldn't afford it so I got the faith mini as a replacement for half the price. Hopefully it's not only half as good.lol I trust your opinionated you said it was good for the money. Also into rc trucks and cars. Started with a wltoys 144001 then got an arrma granite box V3 and got a traxxas slash with the robbie Gordon Dakar body. Thanks for helping re light the fire in me. When I am RCing everything else just falls away😊
That’s a great set up for us on the fence guys. Like many others I am worried about glasses. You can buy frames that slide into ski goggles and add your own prescription. Have you tried them or heard of any other workaround?
I have not tried the ski goggles type but a few years back I bought the foldable menu reading glasses that you can pickup at Walmart or Pharmacies (I just a pile of them on until I found a pair that let me focus a foot in front of my eyes… since they were small & foldable, I eventually lost them… but they did work).
Great video. I've been looking into FPV drones for my son and this looks like it would be great. I didn't know drone sims existed. Is there one that you'd recommend over another for the best experience?
Steve can you review the Walkera T210 mini seems like an interesting package with motion controller and fpv goggles. Has yet to be reviewed well... thanks
You’d need to have only a small eyeglass prescription (eye, if everything is really blurry with glasses removed, then it may not be clear with goggles on), or own glasses that are small in size or wear contacts.
Great kit! I've been eyeing this for some time and waiting for your video on it.. thank you! I was hoping you'd be able to get us a discount code for it.. but doesn't look like it's happening :) Which one would you recommend? Cetus X or this one?
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 Do you think as your skills improve you would just upgrade to new equipment (drone/goggles/transmitter)? And based on that, would you still recommend the Sub250 for skill building?
@@VincentACoreyHell yes. These RTF kits are ONLY designed to get someone into the FPV hobby and then you upgrade everything to pro gear (if you hav not done your research yet have a look at the cost of good FPV Goggles, Good radio, Good battery charger, Good FPV Drone and you’ll be shocked). FPV is only for people with pilot skills, technical know how, and access to a bank account to get started. When you eventually learn how to fly the sub250 without crashing then you need to make the decision if you are gonna buy ANALOG, HD ZERO, WALKSNAIL or DJI FPV Goggles. After that you’ll buy a pro hobby radio and learn how to create a model, then you’ll buy an RC battery charger and finally you’ll buy an FPV drone compatible with your goggles and radio. It is all baby steps.
@CAPTAINDRONE798 they done some upgrades on that drone. Its elrs spi. Has that remote instead of the original that took 4 AA batteries. The vtx is also 400mw now instead of 200mw.
Great video and review. Being a fixed wing pilot since the 70's and my experience with drones in older DJI Mavic's. Just bought a Radiomaster TX16S 4 in 1 version which I use DSMX for fixed wing. It is ELRS module capable. I would like to know what Goggles to purchase? I wear GLASSES...thanks for your help.
If you fly drones with ANALOG cameras and you wear prescription glasses you either have to get small rimmed menu reading glasses so that you can fit BOX goggles over them, or you can buy FPV BOX goggles that have a detachable screen and then somehow attach it to your radio controller (Banggood has those ones) or if you have deep pockets you can get FATSHARKs goggles that have individual eye pieces and allow for each eye piece to be focused.
If you have Terrible hand/eye coordination then the Cetus X FC is best (very forgiving). The Sub250 is more like a real FPV drone and requires a bit more flight skill.
Hey mate I got this bundle my drone likes to pull right and is really hard to maintain altatuide also the controller I tried flicking every switch doesn't seem to make a difference can't switch out of angle mode anyway I can recalibrate the drone thanks in advance
Thanks for the review steve. Seems like a decent drone. I teach a drone class and need to buy 10-20 drones. Need to keep as close to $100 as possible. Have any ideas?
Captain. I have a question. I'm no longer able to fly my mini 2 and haven't been able to for over 2 Years. Dji has been banned or something I know but is there a way to fly again with downloading the info from the dji website? I don't trust that because there are no longer any security measures in place that way.
It depends on the pilot. Pilots who believe they have terrible hand/eye coordination (I.e., can’t play a first person video game shooter), should stick with the CETUS. If skills exist then either the Geprc or Sub250 are great.
In the Cetus X category you have the normal version and an FC version. If you have bad habits from flying DJI type drones then you’ll feel at home with the FC version. If on the other hand you have flown FPV FLIGHT SIMS in ACRO and AIR modes without crashing, then the WHOOPFLY16 is best for your skills. If you crashed, then the CETUS X normal would be good for your skills. And finally if your hand/eye coordination is terrible, then begin with the AQUILLA16.
Hey Steve, hope all is well with you and your family. How does the whoop fly 16 rtf analogue kit compare to the Betafpv rtf Cetux x Fpv analogue kit as you have flown both.. I wouldn’t say I’m a 100% beginner but I’ve never flown FPV but I have been flying freestyle drones etc. Also, when it comes to size, how would you compare the whoopfly 16 to the blade torrant 110?? Are they both the same size. .. Just wanted to say thanks for doing what you do as you help a lot of us out.. God bless you and your family Steve . Thanks Ted
The Cetus X is excellent to get started in FPV but it is limited once you get good at flying well, whereas the Whoopfly Kit can allow you to fly like a pro as your skills improve.
Thank you for the reviews. What about this compared to the Aquila16 kit. This whoop seems to fly better, but the transmitter and goggles seem less. Which one overall? I have a birthday present coming in the form of one of these.
Aquilla16 is designed for people who fly DJI Mavics for a living and would fund flying an FOV Drone difficult. The Whoopfly16 is less forgiving but still a beginner kit (takes a bit more skill to fly)

Hey Steve, thanks so much for the video! Quick question. I’m torn between the Sub250 Whoopfly 16 RTF and the Emax Tinyhawk 3 Plus RTF. As a beginner who's only flown on sims so far, which one would you recommend? Edit: It seems I'm doing well on the sims, so I think it's time to transition to real FPV and learn how it works.
Both are great. Just do a comparison of features (vtx output power in mw, battery size & flight time, flight modes, goggles with DVR, remote compatibility & simulator compatibility, etc).
I see you fly above the houses and I have one question about the restrictions. What is the difference between less than 259g and over 259g? Is it the registration of the drone and the pilot certificat? The distance from peoples and building? I am sure that a lot of viewer should be interested to know like me.
In North America the rules for unmanned objects piloted from the ground are less strict if the unmanned object is under 250 grams. In Canada, where I live, the only rule for under 250 grams is the “common sense” rule which simply means, don’t be an idiot and annoy people with you little drone. Since I’m a drone pilot, I’m fully certified by my government to fly drones 250 grams or heavier.
Great video, new viewer. Just looking to get started in fpv. But interested what the best way to mount an action cam on this would be? Im talking about a feather light one like Insta360 go2.
I'll probably end up picking one of these up, but what about the battery voltages? Is there any info on when I should stop flying and what to charge it to for flight and storage?
Hi Steve, Big fan of your channel, new to fpv world! looking for the best fpv kit so far and i m a little confused, so i will ask you directly which are the main differencies between this whoopfly16 rtf kit and the getprc tinygo 4k rtf kit ??? So far only the camera is the big difference i can spot... please help me!
The default mode is said to be angle. Do we need to connect it to BetaFlight for air/acro mode or does it come out of the box and you just switched it from the controller?
Hey there Steve, looking to get into this myself. I'm an avid video gamer/flyer so I'm hoping some skills will transfer. Regardless, I know you're off in ON while I'm over in "slightly" colder MB. I'm debating between this one and the Whoopfly 16 all-in-one kit. Any leanings?
For part of my vacation I'm actually in Winnipeg, Manitoba (imagine that). So this one is indeed the Whoopfly 16... what is the other one you're considering?
Hey captain again a super nice review !! Looking to get my second Fpv drone had the avata with the motion remote Now looking to do tricks and sold the avata I’m thinking either this one or the Cetus x What would you buy I hear the Cetus has the movable camera angle is it a lack on this one ? @@CAPTAINDRONE798 Hey Steve.., Im getting ready to pull the switch on a mini 4 Pro... Ebay is running a 1 week special.., 0% interest for 24 mnths... Ive been goin back and forth for a month trying to decide between FPV or reg. video/photo drones...Ive made my decision...👍🏻
@@joethompson2910 You can't go wrong with a DJI Mini
Wow I might get this drone. Not sure about the head set but what fatjack are you using and what antenna and the module? :)
Fatshark HD O2 with Rapid Fire & mushroom/patch antenna combo
Hi, where can I buy in the uk looks like a fun toy to learn with
Hey Steve, thanks so much for the video!
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 Thank you! I really appreciate your help.
That's a good deal
What's the battery life? Seemed short on the video
Should I get a Cetus x kit or this kit
In the end they would be somewhat similar. Just compare the goggles features, remote features, flight time of drone, and brushless motor design.
So if you wear glasses ,none of the goggles on these starter kits are any good ?Impressive video for analogue tho
Could I stick my go 2 or 3 on this bad boy? Very cool video thank you!
Do you mean INSTA360 GO2 and GO3? If so, then yes but flight time would be severely reduced.
Hey man thanks for this review - can u use this controller with Mac/ flight simulators?
Didn’t I do just that in this video… watch again.
In what topics this model is better tham the Emax Tinyhawk 3 plus?
Anyone with experience in both models can help? For what I will buy?
Hi, regarding the goggles and glasses wearers? Can you give us some measurements please?
Only small rimmed glasses, like Ben Franklin, would fit.
@CAPTAINDRONE798 ha ha, he preferred kites...
Great video, new viewer. Just looking to get started in fpv. But interested what the best way to mount an action cam on this would be? Im talking about a feather light one like Insta360 go2.
I use double sided tape or zip ties
@CAPTAINDRONE798 thanks. Would you tape a shell mount style holder or the cam directly?
@@olyrussell9872you want the least amount of weight, so directly
I'll probably end up picking one of these up, but what about the battery voltages? Is there any info on when I should stop flying and what to charge it to for flight and storage?
Stop flying when voltage is 3.4.... you can go down to 3.2 but that could be too low for the battery charger to bring them back to life.
What's the chances that these goggles will also work with my dji mavic air?
Zero chance
15:40 K.I.T.T. (Knight Rider)!!
What would you recommend? The Cetus X, Geprc Tinygo 4K, or this? Range is a concern.
Yes to all. If you have poor hand/eye coordination and are not good with technology go for the CETUS X.
They are very similar so have a look at price
Whats that giant box at the front door? RC plane?
More than likely
So i really want to buy this because it looks good for just having fun in the house but i live in the uk and do u know if anywhere i can buy this?
I think SUB250 only sells on the SUB250 web store.
Quick question!! Does it have a hover mode? For kids that are learning?
Nope. You would want a DJI GPS Camera drone for that purpose and not an FPV drone.
The default mode is said to be angle. Do we need to connect it to BetaFlight for air/acro mode or does it come out of the box and you just switched it from the controller?
It should have all the modes out of the box
Hey there Steve, looking to get into this myself. I'm an avid video gamer/flyer so I'm hoping some skills will transfer. Regardless, I know you're off in ON while I'm over in "slightly" colder MB. I'm debating between this one and the Whoopfly 16 all-in-one kit. Any leanings?
For part of my vacation I'm actually in Winnipeg, Manitoba (imagine that). So this one is indeed the Whoopfly 16... what is the other one you're considering?
Oh the Cetus X all in one kit.@@CAPTAINDRONE798
Hey captain again a super nice review !!
Looking to get my second Fpv drone had the avata with the motion remote
Now looking to do tricks and sold the avata
I’m thinking either this one or the Cetus x
What would you buy I hear the Cetus has the movable camera angle is it a lack on this one ?
Wich would be better for freestyle around my house
It it able to take a bigger battery? 4 minutes flight seems short for that whoooing signal range.
In the FPV Drone hobby, 4 and 5 min flight time is normal.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 i know but there’s the Aquila with 1100 bats but I like this better because of the better video and 500mw I’m torn. Lol what’s the mw in the aquila16 btw??
