I have a Sony PVM 1390, which is basically the same monitor but with CMPTR DB25 input instead of SCART. It supports both VGA and RGB through this connector. It also has an S-Video connector. So this monitor you're showcasing essentially *is* a PVM =)
Awesome video and great photography. I have a BVM and a little Toshiba 14 inch portable and while the BVM is obviously superior technologically there is a certain kind of crispness and vibrancy you only get from smaller CRTs like this one. The age of the tube is also a factor but I can understand why these little Sony portable sets are so sought after.
I’ve got two of these that have been in the shed for over 10 years. Dread to think what condition they are in now. You’ve made me want to go and dig them out...
RyanUkAus they were excellent. I saved them both from the dump back in around the 1997. I used them a lot on the PS1 and the picture quality was second to none. I’ve been a bit bad to them and left them in a spider infested shed (not the shed our channel is named after - that’s a lot nicer)!but yes I need to dig them out and give them some TLC. A video will be coming soon! ;)
I don't hate bezels but that SLIGHTLY asymmetrical / off-center setup where the right bezel (from the viewer's perspective) is SLIGHTLY thicker than the left one would drive me nuts.
If I recall it needs some adjustment on the vertical sizing and the pot is either dirty or needs replacing, I just have been lazy and not fixed it yet!
@@RyanUkAus Hey! Quick question: the v sizing can be adjusted from the control panel on the right, but the horizontal sizing can be adjusted? Maybe there are any pots on the board or something? Thanks!
RyanUkAus Yes, it’s the same. I’ve connected to it a Nintendo Gamecube with original rgb cable. It seems like it miss power, the images are so ‘’distant’’ and the colours are weak (the black seems more grey)
Check the cable is correct for the system, there can be differences between cables for the Super Nintendo for example (my SCART cable only worked with a Super Famicom and not my PAL Super Nintendo). Might be worth looking into as some SCART cables are wired differently!
@@RyanUkAus Sorry for the late reply, tried with my PS2 and it's the same. Colours are washed out, and there is a noise coming from the back. I'm thinking if it could worth trying to fix it, what could it be, and if it's possible
Hi! I have the same model. I'm wondering if you are also hearing a buzzing/ticking sound when powered on? Here's a clip: ruclips.net/video/bux4hKXvNH4/видео.html
Mine doesn't make that noise, does yours work okay otherwise? Check the power supply, might be time to look into replacing some of the capacitors too. Start with the high voltage ones maybe?
@@RyanUkAus Thanks. Yeah, the picture and sound is good. It might be the power supply or maybe the deflection coil. Seems others are having the same buzzing issue with this model as well; example ruclips.net/video/IKkruHvDPKM/видео.html (audible from 9:37)

I have one of these! Best CRT ever.
Very versatile monitor with perfect image geometry and contrast. If there had been the 21" model it would have been great!

Do it! Great little monitor set and I'm sure you could get something out of them!

God tier crt. I am so envious!
Very impressive display indeed. Awesome find with that one mate.
Now time for a re-cap to ensure it runs well right past 2050 ;)
It does need a little work mate! Adjustment dials / pots need a little care!

Nice find!
I like it :) great Playstation and Tv :)
Bought one of these from a friend of mine to play snes games... but I cant seem to figure out how to get a FULL screen vertically.
Any suggestions ?
Are you running a 50 or 60Hz console on it? That can affect the display. Is yours a KX-14CP1?
Great video!
I was looking at one of these on eBay. What’s the rgb/rvb switch above the scart on the side about?
I’ll have to have another look as I’ve put it away! I thought it was related to digital RGB but I could be wrong!
@@RyanUkAus I figured it out. It’s RGB in French 😝 The switch is just digital vs analogue. One of these went for 342 Euros on eBay last night.
This is awesome!
It has small black borders on top and bottom.. why? I think you need to recap this monitor!

@@RyanUkAus yes that could be it as well!!

Wild west in detail pretty please :P
Already working on it!
@@RyanUkAus your the best. The best. Nobody gonna keep you down rye.
I took it yesterday from my uncle but the colors are so whashed out. What could it be?
You have the same monitor? Are you using RGB or composite? And what device with it?

tweak that vsize
The pot is broken, I've been meaning to repair two busted adjustment pots for probably over 3 years now...
Looks like a microwave!!
