    32:10 - When writing up the Guru Granth Sahib - they had to create a completely new language so that it must not be inaccurate called Gurmukhi.
    There use to a writer (writing up the teachings) whilst the Gurus were singing as in Sikhism the path to God is through expression of love that we get whilst singing even today.
    After every page or so, the guru use to check what was written like a teacher and put a mark at the bottom of the page stating “I have checked this page and it’s correct”.

    Hii brother I also want to share one more thing 10th guru of Sikhism Guru Gobind Singh was very young when he lost his father, who laid down his life for human rights and religious freedom by coming to the defence of Kashmiri Hindus who were being forcibly converted to Islam by the Mughal Empire.During the year 1705 he had to fight a very tough battle in which he lost his two elder sons, Ajit Singh and Jujhar Singh, while Mata Gujri and his two younger sons Zorawar Singh and Fateh Singh were separated from the entire family. The three of them were handed over to a Muslim governor of Sirhind state by a treacherous Hindu servant who deceived them after being bought over by the enemies. Mata Gujri was thrown into jail alongside her grandsons.Both Zorawar Singh aged nine and Fateh Singh aged seven were pressurised by the Mughals to embrace Islam to save their lives. Undeterred by these warnings, they accepted death with dignity and were bricked alive. Upon receiving the news of the merciless killings of her grandsons, Mata Gujri also died in the prison. The

    Just a quick correction. The "Kaur" means "Prince" and not "Princess". While this may seem a small detail but it makes a huge difference from many perspectives. For example, it kind of breaks the gender barrier and asks you to focus on the attributes of the words Singh and Kaur rather than the genders they are assigned to. While Singhs are fearless protectors and military of sorts, Kaurs are the Guru’s Princes and represent the civilian side of the Sikh social structure. Both of them are complementary to each other and there is no relative positioning of power etc. Now the question that, if men and women were considered equals, why not have same last names? Well, that's because Sikhism acknowledges the difference between masculinity and feminity and has talked about at length on the subject of divine love. It might even seem misogynistic from the simplistic Western view of relationship between man and woman, however, it is way more complex and nuanced. In a nutshell, Sikhism views man and woman as "ek jot doey moorat" that means two bodies but one soul. Men and women are not two separate identities but two half identities and when they come together, they become one identity. I will encourage you to read more about the spiritual philosophy of the Gurbani (words of Guru, as recorded in Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji).

    Interesting story: few singhs were surrounded in a fort by mughals and mughals wanted to just starve them and not face them in close combat coz sikhs were known for fighting with big armies with inspite of limited numbers. Never back down was the motto. So mughals cut thier supplies and just waited outside. Singhs who drank amrit all of them butchered their horses one by one and survived on meat diet. When they came back and told people, their was an outrage and questioning to thr guru. Guru then explained the concept of exception. Exception to save human life. That is the reason you see sikhs unwrapping their turban in time of need. Seen recently in canada when kids playing on frozen ice dropped in it and elder sikhs unwrapped turbans to make a rope. We have seen many sikhs using turbans while witnessing an accident to tie on wound and stop bleeding. These foundations helped us to adapt in western countries and not be a fanatic. As shawn said, we very well might be the first liberals.

    the Harminder Sahib (Golden Temple) was not originally constructed with gold. after the Guru's. there was a emperor of the sikh empire named Maharaj Ranjit Singh. after his successful conquest of Afghanistan he went straight to the Harminder Sahib and donated most of the Gold he got from the Afghan empire and it was then turned into the "Golden Temple". He also was the owner of the Koh-i-Noor diamond. arguably the biggest Diamond ever found. the successor of that diamond was Queen Victoria and it is now attached to the actual crown Queen Elizabeth wears.

    Check out “A history of the Sikh vol1” by Khushwant Singh. It goes over the start of Sikhism to the fall of the Sikh empire

    • @isaacnewton4324
      @isaacnewton4324 4 года назад +1

      That may be a good start but Khushwant Singh was no historian. He just compiles a bunch of stuff and translates it into English with no regard for historiography. He's way off base about a lot of stuff.

    Okay,the part that the entourage left the ninth guru and fled is false ,his disciples actually were martyred too one was burnt alive one was sawn in half and one was boiled in cauldron to scare the Guru into submission and to torture them but the Guru remained calm and composed and was beheaded after them ,the rest of the video is pretty much accurate.

    It's beautiful and very progressive religion, but sad part is that even lots of Sikhs themselves don't understand their own religion !! They do practice cast system and gender inequality !

    Well... M not in the favor of this animation video, like that cartoon type, it's kind of disrespectful to the Greatest Gurus, we here in Punjab even don't let anyone to play their roles in movies, plz plz don't promote these kind of animated video guys, we shouldn't laugh at these kinda really Big and serious things, but they've making animation that funny and cute like for such a Serious matter. And but like your videos guys , keep goin on🌟👍🏼

    Life tip- If you are ever in trouble or require assistance just find the closest Gurdwara ( Sikh Temple) , They will feed you for free no matter who you are and help in any way they can. Many cities across USA, Canada and around the world have Sikh Gurdwaras

    The main distinction between the 2 is that Buddhist Monks are more separate from the community / separate from family life / up in the mountains meditation to connect and Sikhs are more part of the community living having a family and connecting to the higher power through working with other human beings
