I have a quick story for you. The other day I'm talking on my Yaesu FT-101EE and in the middle of a conversation the modulation stopped working. I purchased this radio from the original owner in 1981 so it's old (made in 1977) and it hasn't had the cover off in many years. Throughout the years I got all of the accessories for it, including the speech processor and FL-2100B amplifier. I treat it like my baby and it's in a non-smoking home and has sat in the corner on its own table for about the last 12 years. I know the FT-101 series like the back of my hand so I opened it up and spent about a half an hour trying to figure it out and scratching my head the entire time when I noticed that the back of the microphone jack looked a bit ugly. Sure enough some oxidation had formed and the audio wire was eaten up enough that it broke away from its pin. I replaced the jack and sprayed some DeoxIT into the microphone plug because it has signs of some green stuff forming and now she works good as new again. This goes to show that even when equipment is used daily and well taken care of old age still needs to be addressed on occasion because it's something that we can't prevent, as the top of my barren head with puffs of grey knows all to well! I should probably also consider unplugging the microphone more than once every 12 years.

Great find! Looks like new in the video. I bought one brand new in the late 1980's and had it for about 15 years. Paired it with an AEA PK-232 to run the early hf digital modes. It handled RTTY and Pactor at full power without any problems. Foolishly sold it when I bought a IC-706 MkIIG. 73 de MIke, KA4EZY

I’ve had a couple of them over the years and it’s hard to find 1 with the front cover attached!

I have one of the IC-735 HF radios and it came with an IC-PS15 power supply. I wish it had came with the matching PS-55. I want the AT-150 tuner but can't see to find one. I would like to have the matching external speaker also. My IC-735 works good, other than the lower part of the display doesn't work. It'll work just for a second when first turning it on, then it fades out. The RECV indicator fades as well. I can't find anything that will tell what is causing it. The radio works good otherwise. I talk on it quite often.

I managed to find the exact same setup as you have. Radio (with plastic door still attached), atu and power supply, I've watched your video MORE than once to try and figure out the amount of space required (from left to right with about a 1/2 and inch gap between all 3 units to help with heat and air circulation etc), very excited counting down the days till next week wednesday . One quick question the 160m connection at the back is that specifically for a "random wire" ie end fed setup?? or just for the 160m band ONLY. I am planning to run a "ZS6U mini shack special" into the atu as I do not have a lot of space in the backyard., so would i feed it into say antenna 1 if i planned to terminate it with a connector OR run it into the 160m connecton or is the 160m ONLY for 160m band and NOT a random wire ?. Sorry for all the questions, Thanks in advance, GREAT video, 73 ZS6AKW
