    Windows 10 and 11 are always connecting to the internet, which is kinda insane from a security standpoint. What can we do about it? Well, this video should help get you started. It's time to talk about best practices for login, passwords, firewalls, and a bunch more stuff. All the links are here:

    ClamAV or Immunet are open source realtime antivirus detectors.

    Isn't Kaspersky affiliated with the Russian state ? You might wanna rethink that, especially considering the current geopolitical situation

    • @teksyndicate

      They are mostly in Switzerland now and are not effected by sanctions or the current situation.

    Kaspersky and Malwarebytes are good suggestions, Logan. Overall, the video has some pretty decent advice.

      I really like Kaspersky, but I gotta wonder how trustworthy it is going to be with the current state of the world . . . let alone, if it will be available/supported for much longer if you are outside of Russia (sanctions, etc.).

      @teksyndicate  2 года назад +1

      They operate mostly out of Switzerland and are not effected by sanctions. I wouldn't have recommended it otherwise.

    If you want the standard for locking down an operating system weather on Windows, Linux or OSX, look up the DISA STIGS.

    • @Turb0Yoda
      @Turb0Yoda 2 года назад

      You could, but this is also the group that reccomends changing the krbtgt every 6 months/1 year… a bit overkill for home users

    • @AlGoYoSu
      @AlGoYoSu 2 года назад

      STIGs are fine if you are a sys admin restricting users. If you are that paranoid of a hacker getting into your OS and wreaking havoc after following the steps in this video then ok. I know I wouldn't want to be that restricted on my personal devices. I also would not suggest a basic windows user looking for advice on this subject to touch group policy or the registry which you will inevitably do to be in compliance with STIGs.

    I tried using shut up 10, but everytime I do I get really weird disk usage stats and my drive activity shows its constantly being written to, so I tend to avoid it and just do the tweaks it does manually.

    i think ill just use linux instead. now that elden ring is more playable on linux than windows, i dont think i see a future for windows systems in my house at all anymore.

      Windows systems are fun to with play with though😅 Also Elden Ring is just one game, I doubt anyone will even mention it next year. There is so muchhh games, and sometimes it's just works better on windows.

    One thing I've seen with Shutup 10, even if I apply recommended settings, it shows me a Group Policy thing with Windows Updates. Only appears for Win 10 Pro, not Home.

    Get into Linux baby! It's much more secure and it's not an Orwellian spy box. It's not a big version of an Iphone.

    I'm moving to Linux before W10 becomes obsolete... Windows is obviously getting progressively worse at an increasing rate, also I don't want my OS to look like a cell phone lmao.

    I personally recommend ESET as an antivirus. It’s enterprise level security and it’s used in massive companies. It’s phenomenal.

    It is illegal to create or develop your own encryption algorithm application either for sale or free publication, this has been implemented way back in the late 90's till 2000 onwards by our friends the NSA, if caught expect massive fines or imprisonment all this so they can regulate everything for the better good & well being of citizens. All the available legal hard drive encryption applications you can purchase online including Bit Locker has back door access code which allows the authorities to decrypted your information, if the manufactures didn't provide this back door access code they wont be allowed to sell their product. You may say I'm talking BS but I've seen it first hand right in front of me 😲
    If you're worried about your privacy or security go & study how to make your own, if you're clever enough to write & make your app work don't go broadcasting it about or putting it up for free for all to share & download, remember algorithms have patents also 😃😃
