Thank you so much for the video. The most difficult part of the repair was removing the snap outlet nut. My husband had to use a wrench to get it loose. We ordered the parts which came in about 3 days and I was able to attach the snap retainer to the spray arm and screw the outlet nut back into the machine and he put the upper rack back in. We saved the price of a service call. He is 83 and I am 76 and both had back surgery last year, so anyone can do this job!

Thanks for posting this. I wasn't sure how the upper spray arm could be removed until I saw your video. It is different than the bottom spray arm. Thankfully I was now able to remove and clean the nozzles on the upper spray arm (for the first time in the 20-years that I've owned this diswasher - Maytag Intellisense Ex Plus, which is still working well after all of this time!).

This video (and others by PartSelect) have been great for letting me fix my own dishwasher. Well made, to the point and good videography. Keep up the good work! Thanks!

Thanks . This video saved me quite a bit of time and frustration trying to figure out how to remove the top tray clips and top spray assembly. They are cleverly designed attachment mechanisms, but not particularly obvious for someone who does not repair appliances on a regular basis.

Thank you so much for this! I didn't want to add another honey do to the list, but I knew our upper arm was no longer spinning. This was perfect and now my dishwasher works again!

Thank you so much! I already had the bottom Filters and Spray Arm cleaned but couldn't figure out how to remove the top Spray Arm. I couldn't believe how much clogging debris I cleaned out of it. The Dishwasher now works great.

Thanks for replying! Our dishwasher is a Maytag Model # DWU8402AAB and looks exactly like the model in your video. Again, thanks for any help you can provide!

I just got a new Whirlpool dishwasher, and the upper spray arm, which attaches to the bottom of the top tray instead of top of the enclosure, was loose and sitting in the interior. I thought it was supposed to be intended to be shipped like that, but it wasn't secured or anything, so maybe it came off on its own. I just pushed it up into the four spring tabs, but it certainly doesn't seem secure. I'll have to look more closely at it after the test wash already in progress finishes up. Will see if the arm ends up shooting off the mount..

Thanks so much for the helpful video! I know it will work if I can just get that top "nut" that holds the spray arm on loosened. It won't budge. I did try spraying vinegar on it to loosen any detergent and ran a tooth brush as best I could. Still stuck! Any tips would be terrific. Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the video. I think everyone of the holes in the upper spray arm was plugged with "stuff". (plastic, caked soap, etc)

Is the debris making its way past the filter in the dishwasher?

Hi! It's the upper spray arm, just like in the video. Thanks! I look forward to the quick reply.

anna cama It is a standard right hand thread but can be difficult to get a decent grip on. Try using vinyl or rubber palmed gloves or a piece of surgical tubing wrapped around it. You can also use the socket to remove just the spray arm itself and leave the outlet nut in place.

+anna cama - I also tried loosening the ‘top nut’ by hand, but it is very thin and it was a bit stuck. I gently tapped it (counter clockwise) with the flat end of a small screw driver and that loosened it so it could be taken off by hand.
