That was a great group of women who were nominated but the great Jane Wyman definitely deserved the award. She WAS Falcon Crest and she brought it in every single episode.

She was so terrific in FC. A truly outstanding performance, and I think she was at her best in Season 3, so they even got that right! A shame that she was never recognized for the Emmy for her role as Angela Channing.

Humergutt how about showing this great lady some well deserved respect?!? This is JANE WYMAN .star of Johnny Belinda , and so many more great fims. SHE was HOLLYWOOD !! She was just having fun with the audience, most, who would give anything to have a career half as great as hers.

So nice to see the audience (which included Cliff Robertson & Paul Newman) so appreciative of her comments !! She was a bit salty but funny as hell and so down to earth.
Cliff Robertson was at her table along with Susan Sullivan, Lorenzo Lamas, and Michael Reagan (her adopted son). Cliff was Dr. Ranson on FALCON CREST that year she won that Golden Glibe Award.

Falcon Crest truly one of the BEST shows if you can relate to the humor and dialogue of the 80s. Angela Channing had all the tricks up her sleeve.

a reason Wyman and Lamas were so good together is that she literally knew him from birth - his father left in the middle of The Jane Wyman Show (it was live) when Fernando was called to the hospital during his difficult birth - plus his two mothers Dahl and step mother Williams were very good friends of Wyman

In my opinion this show never got the true recognition it so richly deserved. This was an era when Primetime TV was @ it's 🔥 fiery best unlike this crap they call television today🤔😳🤔How the heck did we go from shows like Falcon Crest to these housewives reality shows😫?

If they were to reboot FC today, they would have to cast someone in power with as much sass, if not more, than what Jane Wyman gave her character and I don't think it would come easy. When my folks watched this program, I remember being scared of her and watching it now, not much different. lol She played the role very well.

I took her "bitch" admission related to her Angela Channing character and not Wyman herself, but maybe you're right! I've read she could be demanding of the cast on that set.

Wow! You're way off in your assessment. She was happy to be recognized. Not drunk. And she was referring to Angela being a bitch. Bit herself. Jane was a classy lady. She demanded professionalism. She took her career seriously. She expected everyone to come to work and know their lines. If that is too much to ask, then it's a good thing none of you are actors.
Today's would-be stars look so so so pathetic compared to this humble and witty "performance"!

And a great, kind and gentle man." Wyman refused to gossip about anyone and she was known for being one of the most loved actresses from the Golden Age.

Back then, personality was the fuel to a great performance. I think that's why so many modern actors are so dense on screen. Case in point: Meryl Streep. Anyway, film is all about exhibition: close ups, psychological glances revealing internal struggle, the works. Classic movie stars like Wyman were able to bring more of a theatrical element to their work where they could show off more and add gestures to their performances.
Nobody did it better than Jane Wyman.
