Only two of the nominees even showed up Glad Shirley was there. Why is Gene standing directly behind her?? She definitely deserved to win.. Congratulations.
Debra Winger was just never going to get it over Shirley but she deserved it. They just wouldn't have done that to Shirley. She had been in the movie industry for too long. IMO they gave it for her body of work.
She did; Debra won the National Society of Film Critics award for Best Actress for Terms of Endearment. It's too bad that one or the other had to win awards for TOE; both ladies were equally brilliant.
