In 2017 Amira was only 13. She is so assured on stage, one forgets how young she is. Earlier in this concert she had sung, Nessun Dorma, and The Flower Duet with Corlea Botha. Two opera arias, both flawlessly. She is 20 now, studying music at college, and still singing in a heavenly fashion. If you want to listen to more recent performance's, try Gesu Bambino, an informal recording with her father, or Amen with the Ndlovu youth choir. Going back to childhood performances - Ave Maria Gomez. - O sole mio, with Patrizio Buanne, or Live in concert Nella Fantasia are all jaw droppers. She has been singing for over 10 years, so there are plenty to enjoy.
I have a writer friend who went to college after he wrote a best seller list book that was made to a movie and then follow up with three more books to round out the series. He quit college after just a month as he felt they would ruin his writing by following their instruction. I hope Amira has the ability to look at that and decide what may be a better direction. Like maybe one really excellent coach. Or for that matter just keep doing exactly what she is doing. It is working wonderfully.

Right from the start, with the bagpipe band parading, the huge stage, the full orchestra, the full choir singers taking their places, the clothes, the pomp and circumstance, you can already tell that a queen is about to perform. And then Amira sings flawlessly with her angelic classical super soprano voice. Towards the end, she projects a long, beautiful D6, followed by an unbelievable high Eb6. Amira only 13, but already a shining queen.

Amira also sang with the South African tenor Lukhanyo Moyake, I'll Walk With God. If it helps, Amira's name is pronounced Villighaagen (as near as I can get to the Dutch anyway).
Please - in American "English" - Ahmeera Villikhargen. I have the DVD of this 2017 concert; there were 31 items in all, and three performances. Amira sang in items 14, 15, 19, 30 and 31.
Great reaction, I suscribed. Amira's ability to leave her mark on this iconic song, while keeping the original meaning of the hymn, is really outstanding. She just needed to add a thirty seconds long stratospheric vocalise with her upper register... And her voice was really angelic. So angelic that If Amira had sung this piece of music in front of the emperor Nero, he would have converted to Christianity right away.
