I have seen a lot of people in offices want to have a family-like culture at the workplace to feel good where they can laugh and share things, have lunch in groups, taking relationships beyond offices etc etc. not realising that it is super toxic for them in the long run and for the company as well. There is a big need to understand that we all have a family at home and our focus must be to enhance those personal relationships and treat the office team like a wor team only. Working together in harmony for projects and supporting each other to achieve targets is needed but anything beyond that is not required.

Sir you are right absolutely. I never thought this deep but since the start of my school days and even in university, I never disclosed about my family and status because I come from a privileged and educated family with good income and assets. Throughout my education in school or university, I was surrounded with people coming from humble or less privileged households. I have had many experiences of people raising their eyebrows in shock when they got to know my background and some giving weird stares as nobody would be able to deduce it with my looks and simplicity. When in university, the people in my inner circle obviously came to know about it, they always tried to make some kind of joke or taunt related to it and I could very well sense from where it is coming as they come from very humble backgrounds, this was the main reason I never wanted anyone to know about it. Your "I didn't mean it" video really exposes the truth about people, they say whatever is in their heart and then say that they never meant it or it was just a joke.

Disclose it to ones who are already at similar level.
Everyone is selfish and smart now a days. People judge and make friends based on financial status.
If you show you are poor you will have poor friends circle.
Also its natural human tendency to make contacts with people who are doing good in life. A wealthy man and a begger can be friends in movies only. Billu barber.
Having said that, there is certain level of satisfaction and peace when you make people jealous. For the same reason, people buy expensive car and build bigger homes.
Personally I enjoy it when people get jealous. It indicates I am on the right track.

    yes!
tell your boss, you create problems for your professional growth.
tell your relatives, create problems for your personal/social life.
that believe coming form western school of thought that "never ask a man how much you earn" is very important to teach to new graduates!

Never disclose anything about family , salary. If insist talk lowly ....no one is your friend in your office...when u enter the office as a fresher or even as manager keep to yourself...do your job and go home..don't make the extra effort of working beyond duty hrs ...it's all a waste...take good care of your health and enjoy your life...

Absolutely right , not even one's privillage but his/ her own problems / constraints are used as leverage to take advantage or favour some one in bosses good books.

Some companies spent good money on background verification and know about yourself.
Then they pass this info to the manager.
I have never said anything to anyone in my office. Still it feels he knows enough about me.

yes absolutely correct and thanks for the video/topic! Also, this information about the privileged background has got an inverse/negative effect on the appraisal interview by the end of the year. This means the hard work will NEVER EVER get noticed as stated by yourself!!

I am working and let let me tell you no one willing to listen your personal life. If someone starts to tell about family or friends boss ask one thing is this information useful for our business. This is old advice when people do not have work and too much involved into personal life. But now work is more important. and people hate/ discourage/ condemn these things. But Sir I appreciate your confidence for generalizing things

Very good video. I told some personal thing to my Boss and he told to everyone in the company in a company addressing so that everyone makes fun of me. After that my career got screwed up since last 10 years...
Kindly make some videos on Corporate Politics too. Very serious and that series will be very interesting.

Yes, the thing is people cannot digest if we are happy and privileged, if they are suffering and we are happy then they expect us to suffer if a suffering person see another person happy they can't digest so expect for our skills and basic info don't let others know anything about you
