- for proper transmission shifting the transmission input shaft has to be within .005 runout - alignment with the crankshaft centerline, here is how to measure if you are in spec or need to install offset dowell pins to move the bellhousing into alignment spec.

Great update VRM! Indexing the bell housing doesn’t look too hard if you have the right tools! Awesome job! It’s been really hot here in Portland too!
@@ogsuperflygarage thanks OG, yeah I want to get the bellhousing lined up as close as possible, it definitely makes sense that it can improve shifting and lessen wear on the input bearing!

Alot closer than some I've seen.
RobbMC has adjustable dowels you can turn with a wrench and tighten up with an Allen wrench.

good video man.. i had to do the same thing with my quicktime bell housing but needed 14 degree dowels ( most likely due to me have the block line bored ) but got mine within .004 just under the warranty for my t56... ( i took a video just for warranty purposes ) you are going to use solid roller lifter on a hyd. cam just for the knowledge what are they recommending for a lash adjustment no? i set my solid roller set up at .017 intake and a loose .018 on exh. for people who watch this.. this drop's your gross lift.... but free's up some hp...
