We've lived in places with security and places without. Many have CCTV as well. We've not had an issue with anyone trying to mess with our stuff, but some people feel more comfortable with it. Found your 2 yr old vlog on teaching English. Going to assume the info is basically the same and is good to know. Seems to be more a headache than its worth. So guess I am coming there as a fully retired person. Will continue to follow your vlogs. Thanks
Jeremy, can you tell me if I'm allowed to modify/change/install anything in any apartment like hangers, hooks, shower curtain (if not), TV on wall, . . . or we have to take as it is ? Thanks
Landlords are extremely flexible and willing to let you do almost anything you want. We asked the landlord to install screens, that was in the contract. We installed, a kitchen shelf and a roof cover at our expenses. This is going to be our place for a long time so we are happy to spend a bit to make it like we want.

From your vids, appears like its easy enough to get 3 month contracts. Also, some of the places in the 250 a month bracket seem really nice. I am exploring visa options and internet providers for Cambodia at the moment. Any advice or tips would be beneficial for me. Are any of the appts soundproofed?
Visa options I would get the Yearly Business Extension for Cambodia, extremely easy to get. You may be able to soundproof the apartment yourself 😁
If I could give any advice to a newby,
Re Split System air conditioning, older models, and systems not adequately maintained, will cost you extra dollars
For electricity
Very true, we recommend getting the Aircon cleaned and serviced before you move in. It usually costs $10, and can be worked into the agreement.
Great video! Where is the new Angkor Market going to be located and when is the planned opening? Thanks!
14th of September near the National Museum. It was going to be the 9th but it was delayed.
@@ForRiel Thank you. I'm on Wat bo. This is great. You two definitely need to do a video once it is open.
Appreciate this. What would twice the. budget let's say 5 to 6 hundred get you.
Can do. I will try and hook up with a local real estate agent to get some good deals for everyone.
@@ForRiel Great idea! 💜
@@ForRiel Do any of the apartments, guest houses etc. have bathtubs? BTW, I love your channel. I found you ages ago by way of your KL friend. 😉 And today, I noticed you’re friendly with Itchy Feet.
Very interesting I plan to go and stay in Siem Reap next year thanks for sharing this
Great to, hear, thanks!
Thank you for what you do!
Thank you for watching! We really appreciate it.
Thank you for the information, I am seriously thinking of retirement in Cambodia as opposed to Jomtien because of the new taxation issue in Thailand.
Is it possible to rent these places month by month to get a feel for the area
Not usually, but 3 months is possible.
Very helpful video and thank you, planning to go there in mid-November try to stay long term, and this is exactly the information I needed.
Glad it was helpful! 🙂😁
Coming this week! Let's get an ice cold beer.
Yes, please show more! maybe $250-$300/month.

excellent video. may i ask if using s.r. as a part time retirement destination is ever done? i.e. lease a night-guarded, safe, small apartment for one year, have a one year retiree visa (these are multiple entry i gather), spend several months at a time in s.r., travel to an apartment back home in the west (and/or elsewhere in asia) for several months. given s.r. that seems safe from property crime, and has its own (new) international airport, it seems doable for not an obscene cost, eh?
also, i have a healthy dread of being in an accident on a motorbike, are tuktuks easy enough for a non-khmer speaker? grab taxi? thanks!
sorry for double post, dont know how i did it!
Found your 2 yr old vlog on teaching English. Going to assume the info is basically the same and is good to know. Seems to be more a headache than its worth. So guess I am coming there as a fully retired person. Will continue to follow your vlogs. Thanks
Beyond Yangon Inn is good, but it's hard to say without knowing your taste and budget.
Jeremy,
can you tell me if I'm allowed to modify/change/install anything in any apartment like hangers, hooks, shower curtain (if not), TV on wall, . . . or we have to take as it is ?
Thanks
Landlords are extremely flexible and willing to let you do almost anything you want. We asked the landlord to install screens, that was in the contract. We installed, a kitchen shelf and a roof cover at our expenses. This is going to be our place for a long time so we are happy to spend a bit to make it like we want.
@@ForRiel , it's obvious it has to be at my expenses but I just wanted to know if I'd get his permission to do so. Some don't like it at all.
Thanks. Hope to meet you there once.
Thanks for all the info
Thank you for watching 🙂🙏
🙂❤👍
Thanks for watching!
Excellent musical choice
Thanks 🙏👍
Thanks very much for your time and info
Very welcome! 😁
Great video. Super informative.
Thanks for watching 😊
Thanks for all your informative videos. We are looking to leave Dubai in a year and travel indefinitely around Asia. My wife is from Philippines but we decided first stop will be Cambodia - she can carry on working remotely and if I get bored I am from UK and have a TEFL certification. Good luck with your future plans, look forward to following more on YT.
That's great to hear. Siem Reap is also an excellent place to use as a base as you travel to other places. It has worked very well for us in this way. All the best with your plans!
Excellent tour. More, more, more please
We'll be making more like this for sure!
Are pets allowed in any of these apartments, or in Cambodia in general?
Most landlords are fine with you having a cat or small dog, as long as you pay for any damage.
Is Cambodia a good place to retire in from the USA? Please help us understand. Do some videos on owning vs renting, and the different value amounts of doing so? Just an idea.
Just moved here with my whopping $940 a month social security . I have a great apartment with balcony and pool. My total bill for my first month was $400 for rent, electric, water, wifi and cable. My total in the states in July was $950. You likely would have at least double that from S.S. You will live so well here, But it's the people here that make it special.
great vlog
Thanks for the visit

That is all possible and easy to do.
Good knowledge! I have been visiting since 2002. It is obviously much different now. Looks like a good low budget option if you don't want to be in Kampot. I guess the summer is like Sakhon Nakhon in Thailand. H O T T hot.
April and May we recommend going on a holiday to a cooler location 😄
'Very' good information. Muchly appreciated!
Glad it was helpful! 😄😄
Great video. I am a smoker, is that a problem?
Yes that's not good for your health.
As long as you smoke outside, not at all.
Has high speed internet become more reliable or faster recently? 🤔
We have 70 up and down for $20 a month, never had a problem.
@@ForRielwow, here now manila i have 10mbps download, 1 up.
That IS a little bit better than when I was over there last 👍
I get 300 in Saigon for less money... but 70 isn't bad. I wonder if 70 is good enough for doing something like being a RUclips streamer, though?
@@jtns2845 Is that the best that it can do, though? I would think that there'd be a lot of streamers over there.
Being a fan of street food vendors, it would be nice to know if there are "night markets" near any given apartment. Nice, informative video
There are a few around that area.
Thanks, mate. Very helpful.
Btw how old are you?
I'm looking for a condo $500 - $600, as I want "amenities", but the ones you're showing are great for the price.
You're probably looking at Rose Apple Square or Angkor Grace. Check out those two developments and see what you think.
Uh... this might be obvious to everyone else, but what is the duration for $250? A month? A week? A day???
A day, of course! 😊 No, it's a month.
Are these available as 2-3 month short term rentals?
🎉
💥✨🌟⭐
Are there any monthly rentals? Seems like they all start at a 6 month lease.
Mostly they are 6 months to a year, but 3 months is possible. Most people do monthly Hotel stay deals.
Great tours Jeremy! Is it possible to rent a small house for around $500 or so? Thank you!
We rent a 2 bed house for $300. You can find them for less, and also a lot more, depending on the standard you are comfortable with.
Really helpful, well done. Hey I hear there's an AFL football club in Siem Reap... Not that gay rugby crap, but real football:). Any chance of doing a video on it?
Mmmm, maybe Marc from Marc's Mildly Interesting could do one when he comes over. Jeremy doesn't like the Aerial Pingpong game at all.
@@ForRiel yep I’m originally from Brisbane but raised in Melbourne.
Visited QLD and NSW and they refer to it as “gay F L”, those lot should be deported to Van Dieman’s land.
