I enjoy watching these videos. The section on orientation of rods & pistons is critical & covered pretty well as was resizing the con rod ends, but twist checking was missing.
Also missing in this presentation was essential basic information on ring fitting ~ even though Scott raised ring gap rather vaguely right near the beginning ~ it was not covered.
With the exception of the non original segmented oil rings [used in this case & I would recommend] every ring should be checked for end gap @ the bottom of the bore it will be fitted to [top is fine on a newly sleeved or bored engine block] ~ this gap is minimally ~0.003" per inch of diameter or ~0.009" in this engine.
Insufficient end gap can/will result in broken rings @ bore damage.
Also 2 other ring to piston measurements should be observed ~ back & side clearance. These measurements are clearly depicted in TM 10 1513 Section 0100 Pages 27 - 29: ~0.0005" ~0.001"
Then of course the piston to bore clearance needs to also be established for each bore ~ rule of thumb for these older engines with split or T skirt pistons is ~0.001" per inch of diameter.
I am not meaning to be a SA & realize if everything was included in these videos they would possibly become too long & confusing ~ but the above contributory info is critical to doing an engine fitting job properly & that is what most G503 owners/viewers are seeking.

Most engine builders now use a torque plate when honing, to lose the distortion of having the head bolted on. Makes the cylinder perfectly round.

Shouldn't the oil squirt hole be opposite from the T slot on the piston? Noticed this is not the case in this video?
