    Just reinstalled an L134 in a 1945 MB today. This video was helpful. Scott you asked for comments... we rested the engine on the motor mounts gently and with the hoist still attached stuck a stout prybar between the skid plate and the front axle and pushed it straight in. [After trying everything else first!!]

    Thanks Scott, good information. When we installed the motor last March, a slight accident caused a damaged clutch plate and a cracked transmission case ( ouch) . Your info is right on👍

      you prolly dont give a shit but if you're stoned like me during the covid times then you can watch pretty much all the latest movies on InstaFlixxer. I've been binge watching with my girlfriend for the last couple of weeks =)

    The first engine I pulled (by myself) was a Chevy small block 283. I tied 5/8" rope to both exhaust manifolds, and lifted it up with a tiny "block and tackle" like this one ....

    ....where the top end was hooked to a big tree :) ... this was in a kind of posh area of Toronto, where my Grandmother lived at the time. I got LOTS of nasty looks from neighbours and passer's by :) LOL

    How do you attach the leveler to the motor? I just put the head on my motor and torqued it all down. Do I take 4 nuts off and put them back on with the load leveler brackets when I’m ready to drop in?

    • @TeamG503
      @TeamG503  4 года назад +1

      CollegeBaseball15 yes, however some would say to use a large strap and wrap it around the engine.
      There is a risk of breaking head bolts.
      I personally have pulled and installed several engines and never had an issue breaking bolts.👍

    Thanks Scott for another great video. I'm doing the exact '43 MB and installed my motor about 2 months ago. I mated the engine to the bell housing on the garage floor then hoisted the entire assembly into position. It seemed to work fine. Any problems with this method that I did not foresee?

    • @TeamG503
      @TeamG503  5 лет назад +1

      f18horse actually that is a preferred method. I showed it this way for those who need to remove the engine with the transfer case and transmission in place.

    Scott , with the dowel bolts , I KNOW everybody puts them in backwards from the other bolts on bellhousing but does anyone know WHY ?

    • @TeamG503
      @TeamG503  4 года назад +2

      It would seem that the taper of those bolts inserted “backwards” like you say, would aid in the proper alignment of the bell housing.

      @@TeamG503 OK , I'm doing it your way . NOW i have someone to blame ! LOL

      actually by "Backwards" I meant in relation to the other bolts in the bell housing . I went to Army Jeep Parts , George has an unmolested '44 motor there in a video and you can see them in there the way you say !! but i HAVE seen pics the other way to , so it made me question it .
