If you've missed the last few episodes, we decided to buy a cabin, move into it and get comfortable for the winter. It has been a LONG 4 years of self building our home and it's time we start living again. Now that it's been a few weeks, this cozy cottage is exactly what our souls needed!
How did we end up here?
It all began with a year of full-time travel, embracing the van life until the world shifted, and we had to adjust accordingly. With travel no longer an option but determined to stay productive, we transformed our compact mobile abode into a self-sufficient off-grid dwelling that fulfilled all our needs. Recognizing the uncertainty of the current tiny home, we quickly realized a permanent residence was the most sensible choice. Over the past three years, we have meticulously overseen every aspect of the project ourselves, planning the construction while simultaneously setting up the off-grid property to sustain our future food requirements. For the last two years we've lived in a Geodesic Dome, which has allowed us to be comfortable (expect for the winter months), while we realize our shipping container home dream. However, this will mark our 4th winter with stable electricity, running water, or a flushing toilet and time has come to come up with a new plan going forward. Join us every Sunday for a new video!
I think spending the full day out in the cold, combined with Ty’s trip into town was the perfect recipe for us to get sick but like we said, at least it’s this week and not next! I wish i had appreciated all the christmases when we were young and our children were small.
All the cooking and buying gifts and the crowds. I miss those days.
When your child sits looking up at the decorations ,lights shining on their faces . Is everything.
If thats your life, take it from me, slow down. Enjoy it.

My husband of 40 years passed away this week. Christmas was our thing and Michael had to place the ornaments in the perfect places. Your post today brought back great memories. Enjoy your beautiful tree and keep the joy in your hearts

There’s nothing that can be said to take away your sadness and hurt but going through it is how we heal. I thought I’d never laugh again and then I was watching something on tv and I did. Startled the heck out of myself. Let family and friends help..it helps you and it helps them.

Really like the new 12 ft. holiday tree, guys. We put up 6 trees each year. One for each grandkid. Dump the Covid for Christmas and have a festive time with family.
WOW! All the decor looks beautiful. Probably the sweetest moment was when the boys and Squirrel were giving sibling kisses and love. You know babies learn what they see and feel... you are the best parents to the fur babies. The wildlife shots were breathtaking. Feeling so sad you both have Rona. Hopefully you will get healthy soon. I know you have family coming and you have a lot to do. See you over at the podcast on Wednesday.
You’ll need to build a catio for Squirrel so she can go outside and be safe.

Yeah, the production values of these videos just keeps getting better and better. This video was especially beautifully shot; not only the nature shots but also the scenes with the Christmas ornaments. So, so pretty.

We tie are tree to the wall with fishing line and hooks. It has saved are trees many times from the cats climbing up inside them
I don't tell many this but I live by myself. Most of my family members are passed and those who remain are
living in completely different states. Therefore being by myself I have a hard time decorating my place when
the season dictates.
When I get to see how elaborately you guys decorate your various living spaces It totally fills me with joy. .....
You always give decorating your all and it shows with ""Picture Perfect Postcard"" and stunningly beautiful
scenery that Brings in the moods and feelings of your hearts.
Please don't ever change this wonderful aspect of your characters.
I actually begin to feel the Christmas Spirit when I watch the two of you brightening up your homes in the
way that you do. Truly May God Bless you and yours ( this would include your sweet fuzzy kids as well!!! )

Yeah. My parents, my stepfather are gone now. So too my aunts and uncles. No siblings. Some cousins, but not nearby. Being on my own, I don't give much thought to the Christmas period and decorating, although I did haul out a bit of tinsel and baubles for the living room. Still, you know, I live in a small cosy council bungalow, nice neighbours, nice quiet area, lovely walks nearby, and I'm very thankful for all that. The intention is to treat myself on the day to a large Margherita and several glasses of sherry throughout the short daylight here (from nine to three) and read and go for a walk and get to watch lots of you-tube (I don't have, want, a telly). That's my simple way of doing things, but, in short, I wish you the best for your own sort of celebration, however muted. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from me across the pond. I too am on my own at Christmas as my parents have passed, siblings are too far away and my cousins live in Seattle and Toronto. I don’t bother decorating for Christmas because I’m too busy packing my caravan for my annual holidays and the big get away. It’s hot here in Australia and we wear Christmas T Shirts, shorts and thongs (flip flops). Families celebrate Christmas at the beach, by rivers or creeks or just in their own backyards often having barbecues.
I don’t mind being on my own Christmas Day as I play Christmas songs and carols all day long through my Bluetooth speaker outside. To everyone on their own this Christmas, have a lovely peaceful day and just know that there are millions of other people just like us all around the world. If you live in a cold climate, rug up and be cosy or in a hot climate find somewhere to cool off. I’ll raise a glass or three of gin and tonics to all of us on our own to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy prosperous New Year. 🇦🇺🦘🦘🇦🇺

OK, So being the Hopeful Romantic that I am, I totally cried at the surprise of the 12' tree. I know what its like to have a vision of what could be. Tyler, good for you for making Todds Christmas wish come true. Its a memory you will keep and cherish years and years from now.
Maybe build a catio with perches and tunnels so little Squirrel can enjoy the outdoors safe from the hawks/eagles and any other predators? You could build it big enough to put seating in there so you could join her.

Tip for next time- use green pipe cleaners instead of zip ties. They will blend into the garland and banister.
My husband believes all the Christmas stuff should be remote controlled. From my couch I can turn on my Christmas tree, the village, and the outdoor lights. It’s amazing! He even rewired all my battery operated village pieces so that’s it’s all electric. What great hubbies we have.
I remember one magical tree when I was about 12. The owners of the farm we lived on had a double height ceiling in their living room and a mezzanine. They had an enormous Christmas tree and instead of Christmas lights the tree was decorated with actual candles which were in special holders. It was the most beautiful magical tree I have ever seen. Your animals are all so sweet together. Great to see Charlie walking around ok.

The smile on Todd’s face whilst decorating, awesome. Covid is definitely doing the rounds this year. Up until now I’ve managed to avoid getting it, then I went out with family and friends to celebrate on the weekend before my big birthday 🎉.
