Yess ,dear I am planting trees on that side of a road ,which is in the last and no one goes there and I am not old,, m in my middle age ,but there are some people who do not like it ,and many a times they put harmful chemicals in the roots of that tree ,I again plant ,they again do the same ,,now I am planning to put cctv cameras there ,but you know doing right kind of things is very tough

I've planted over a 100,000 trees in my life since I was a kid. There is nothing more rewarding to see the growth after 30 years. It goes from how you remember the land to a completely new landscape. Almost bitter sweet because you know how long it takes for those trees to grow that big.

Over here in NZ there is a town called Rotorua that planted California Redwood tree in 1901, 1920 and 1940. They are truly magnificent, the beauty of the trees as u walk through the forest is breath taking. Standing tall and strong, they give new meaning to the word at one with nature
Planted over 40 Redwoods in Oroville California in the Sierra Nevada foothills at 950 ft elevation. They were around 4 ft tall 25 years ago and are now 100 ft tall. they need a little tlc to get started but once they are established they grow rapidly. I lived in Crescent City CA for 15 years and the redwoods are my favorite part of that area. Glad to see other people who care about the trees.

I worked in those forests for three weeks and my brain was definitely changed in a good way. Its a profound place. 95% of the trees were killed, true and 95% of the native people who originally cared for the trees were also killed. I do hope that they have included the native nations of the area to advise and to return some of the land to them.

40 years ago my dad took his parents, wife and kids to California to see relatives in a once in a lifetime type trip. Being 12 at the time,I wanted to go to Disney most of all. We spent a week visiting family and parks followed by a week doing Disney type things. Decades later what I remember and appreciate most is the Redwoods. Massive and majestic and HUGE! It saddens me greatly to hear decades later these forests are mostly gone. Massive respect to those who are doing something to save this most precious of natural resources. Living creatures over 2000 years old deserved better.

I deal with all types of wood. At first I was just selling firewood for profit. Now I feel I need to plant as much as I cut. My mission is to create my own forest. “The Paul Bunyon Forest.” I know these now dead trees that I deal with were growing before I was alive. Now it’s time I help them as much as they helped me.

I highly recommend making a journey to see those forests. Its that feeling when you were a kid, and every day your mind was blown away with something new to know. That's how it feels putting your eyes and hands on these giants.
CH MA 4, I agree, growing up watching "The Wonderful World of Disney" is when I first saw that redwood a car could drive through. It was etched in my memory.
So when my wife asked me where I wanted to go on vacation it was easy.
We journeyed to Kings Canyon, what a treat.

Pictures and videos don't do the trees any justice at all. It's a truly breath-taking experience to see a giant redwood in real life and just admiring how massive and beautiful they are. It's like being in a city of trees, surrounded by bark, leaves, and fresh crisp clean air. Defiantly worth the trip for anyone who decides to go.
It’s been many years since I visited the Redwoods in Northern California. My heart hurt seeing those high trees cut down & I am grateful for people like you who clone & replant trying to bring them back.
This was posted 5 years ago & California has almost been burned out. The fires have taken a toll on several states. I hope you are still cloning & planting these beautiful trees!

No ! But i felt moved and understood how he felt, because here where i live in Western Australia we have a ever shrinking Forrest losing to big companies and our unique Forrest's are disappearing very fast. These trees and old growth and are some of the largest trees in the world.

I love that opening statement. Having grown up in Northern California, I feel the same. The old growth redwoods are such magical trees and had a profound spiritual impact on me the many times I walked through those beautiful enchanting groves.
I'm going to do whatever I can to pick up the trash others left behind.

I'm inspired by this video and many others,

Just saw the redwoods for the first time yesterday. This experience has been absolutely life changing. Just some words: amazing, godly, protectors, ancient, strength, resilient, etc. We have to protect and restore the redwood and sequoia trees. I wish only the best and success for this mission.

I had a near-death experience when I was 19. I could hear it in his voice that he experienced such a hard thing and I could see myself in his new-born passion. "I am going to do it" is like a beutiful phrase that gives you new life by giving something else new life. Because death is never easy for anyone. Thank you and God Bless from Sweden for this video.

People don't cry only because of sadness. There's many reason why people can cry. Some people are very emotionaly sensitive and can litteraly start crying for nothing. For exemple, personnaly i can cry because i find something incredibly beautiful. I have cried in front of movies that weren't really sad or emotional, just some scenes or some shots were so beautiful it made me cry to think that people can create such things.
There is nothing NOT cry-worthy. You think a cry is sadness, but everybody is different. It can happen out of anything, happiness, disbelief, love, and a lot more. There is no perfect definition. That's just humanity buddy.

When I'm alone in the Redwoods, with the mist low to the ground, I can imagine a pre-historic animal running down the trail towards me. It is a magical place that must be experienced at least once in your lifetime.

As a previous redwood state park camp host for 13 years, nothing beats living in the redwoods 24/7 during a big storm. They creak and groan and the tops sway 30 feet! Burned out hollow giants are natural when duff builds around trunks for centuries, then is ignited by natural fires. The fibrous bark is relatively fire resistant until enough heat burns through the bark into the cambium and heartwood which burns up the interior until lack of oxygen snuffs it out. Early travelers and pioneers used large hollow redwoods and brush as "Sheep pens" to avoid griz and lion from taking livestock. Many redwoods are blown apart by direct lightening strikes which super-heats interior water into steam. With no tap root, wind can blow over one big redwood and it will take down several others like dominoes.
There are millions of redwoods within state parks and the project of growing the best genetics is good. Those should be widely disbursed among all other protected redwoods to naturally spread the best genetics via eventual seeds. Re-planting clear cut areas only will result in slow and unnatural long term forests since clear cutting killed off the little known "internet" fibers between trees which may take many hundreds of years to restore.
Privately owned redwoods are NOT "protected" and smaller trees left uncut will provide marketable logging again......in 700 years! Why worry? :-) Summer fog (cold ocean-hot interior) is the key element as big redwoods can take in up to 500 gallons of water a day. Redwoods "predict" upcoming winter rain and floods by dropping large numbers of cones, or very few for dry winters. Redwoods have 16 million years of experience. They know what they are doing! :-)

I have a small backyard, but not too long ago I began taking interest in it. I got into gardening which led me to companion gardening so I won't use pesticides. I began seeing cardinals, chickadees, and just other type of birds. Hearing them sing made me happy. So then I began buying food for the birds. It led me to plant native plants for them. Now I want to build a pond for the birds. Then put bird houses and places for them to be more protected against predators. I have stray cats around the area they don't get into my area because of my dogs, but the birds have their nest near my backyard not in it. I'm not only planting for the birds, but also for the pollinators. It will be like a mini forest. The little I have done and I can tell the difference on how lively everything is. I don't know how smart birds are, but they were singing outside while I was cleaning up the back yard and I herd a bunch of them chirp like crazy. I looked up and of to a distance I saw a cat. I wanted to go grab it. It was a beautiful cat really fluffy, but it ran away. After the cat left the birds stopped chirping like crazy and began singing again. Nature is beautiful. I wish I could've done it sooner. At the end of the day we can all do our part. We need to be held accountable too. If you don't have a place find out where you can plant trees and native plants. Don't use so much plastic. Our government won't do anything if we don't take action ourselves. If you do have a yard plant a small native tree. Provide water and food, plant some flowers for pollinators. Try to find out ways to get rid of pest without pesticides. Let's not kill our planet.
I’ve planted three trees this year. I hope they survive as long as they can because I love trees and I hate to see forests suffering by people cutting them down, they’re so ignorant. I planted two maple trees and a birch tree 💚
There's an old Redwood forest in Minnesota at Itasca State Park. I used to visit it in my teens (1970's). It could maybe help with propogating more of these trees? I remember a friend of mine playing Amazing Grace on his bagpipes at sunset on the lake among those trees. It was so beautiful. I will help this man's cause.

Every time I day dream or meditate a Redwood forest is always a part of it. Now that truely explains their magical influence on me and I’m sure anyone who has seen a redwood forest in person or in pictures has a sort of magical connection to them in their own way.
I can’t imagine loosing such an amazing part of nature because of human actions. On an emotional and logical level they are very important.
Old is Gold. Preserving such trees is a great Love to humanity.

@@purebluejapan- it is fine, satellite imagery, actually show an increase in green around the world. Humanity-wise it's inconvenient but it's by no means world ending, a large percentage of the world already live in climate controlled buildings, and generally, to prevent the sea from reclaiming land; it's just a question of cost than anything else. Also, redwoods used to be in Western Europe too, they got out because of the last ice age
@@Ozzyisunavailable The most valuable thing in our entire universe is life to our knowledge, in particular the diversity of live and as far as we know, earth is the only planet with life, even if its not, life is most certainly very scarce in the milky way.
The biggest threat to biodiversity today are we, it started with the Quaternary extinction event, during which our ancestors caused the most extinctions of large animal outside of africa and has rose to an extreme today, through large scale environmental exploitation, poisoning/contamination and extreme habitat loss, which is know even on its way to surpass the Triassic-Jurassic extinction event.
BTW: despite improving technology, we will be the biggest losers of the anthropogenic climate change, the cost we face because of it today are already in the trillions of dollars per year worldwide, while countries like the netherlands can pump up to hundreds of billions each year in protecting their land from getting flooded, or a single city like New York can pay 10 billion for a flooding protection project, most places on this planet can not.
Bangladesh for example is already partly uninhabitable because of the sea level rise and natural disasters(which increase greatly with a more extreme climate), millions of people are climate refugees today and as most of humanity lives close to the costs and most of humanity can not pay billions to protect their city, billions of people will become climate refugees in the next decades.
Even if you live your hyper privileged life, away from the cost, with enough money to pay for very expansive food and outside of a natural disaster zone, you will still be affected because most of humanity will not be so fortunate and when all these people are suffering and starving, while you sit in your safety buble with a full belly, you will not live in peace, that i can guarantee you.

Mr. Treez: Morgan Freeman is a fine actor who is paid to do environmental & scientific programs. But the man we see in this presentation is an arborost. He is an educated, dedicated tree man. NOT the same!
I saw the redwoods as a 12 year old back in the mid 1970s. Even at that young age there was a unique feeling of awe just to stand among them. I never forgot it and I never will.
Kudos to this gentleman and all who help him.

I grew up in Santa Cruz redwood forest. I didn’t know till I was a teenager it wasn’t normal to have 200 foot plus trees in the backyard and all over the place. There amazing and i think for me they showed me how small I was and how high I might reach someday. Figuratively of course.
When one tree came down it was a closed road for a couple days. And the rain was awesome.

I got to know about them when i was a kid! I was amazed by them!!! After so many years knowing that 95% of them are gone breaks my heart!
In Australia we have been practising Professional Forestry for more than 100 years. Every tree that is harvested gets replanted!
yeah maybe in Pine plantations but i haven't seen any red mahogany plantations or any native species for that matter. I live on a property that was logged for all its ancient hardwoods and all they planted was few tea tree and put cattle on it?
