This reminds me of the stories my grandfather would tell me. He told me that the disputes in his high school were almost always handled in local outdoor boxing ring in his small midwestern town. The fighters both wore very heavy leather gloves, and they went until someone was KO'd or down for the count. Someone's father always ref'd the fights and made phone calls to the other kid's fathers once they were done. This was done to avoid corporal punishment by the principle and to keep the beef squashed outside of the learning environment. This is similar, and in a way it's very human and authentic. I'd love to hear what their thoughts are now about one another and see what their relationship is like after this.

My favorite part is how both fighters recall the events that led up to the fight completely differently, and in both retelling of their stories they consider themselves as the passive one and the other person as the aggressive one.
Which, from my own experience, always tends to be the case with conflict. The person telling the story alway thinks that their actions were excusable and virtuous and that their opponent's acts were outrageous and malicious.

One version is that he was getting "mean mugged". While the other version is that he was "trying to brush him off".
One person says the response about the handshake was, "I didn't feel like it". And the other person says that they actually said, "It would be in your best interest to stay f*cking clear of me".
In both person's version, the one telling the story is creating a narrative that they were the one's being chill about the situation and actively trying to avoid a confrontation. And in both person's version, the other person is actually the one "trying to fight".

I dislike how if one person behaves poorly, and the other person is offended, that whoever wins the fight is somehow validated as a 50/50 fair dispute. They had a verbal disagreement, and then one of them became emotional and slapped the other at the gym. He should be kicked out of the gym for that. Just because he won the fight doesn't excuse his poor behavior.

"What's the worst that could happen you get your ass beat?" Nah the worst that could happen is you take a clean shot, bounce your head off the floor and die. The worse that could happen is you end your martial arts career early due to an injury. Fighting isn't just a joke especially when you can knee and kick a downed person. Both of these guys sound like cancers, the guy with the red shorts more so than the guy with the dark pants. I wouldn't even dare talk about my training partners like this and if our head coach ever got wind of this brewing they would shut it down immediately not promote it.
It's one thing to bring out the best in eachother through competition. It's another thing to promote cancer culture at gyms. But again, I respect that they both hashed it out and I hope that it's all good between them. Seems like a petty thing to be upset about to begin with but whatever.

I believe this is one of those moments where the gloves truly made the difference. It's alot easier to defend a rnc when the guy is wearing mma gloves, and way easier to apply it if you're not. Had the other dude not worn gloves I think he could have sunk his rnc and won. He had great control throughout the whole first part.

Its actually a wonderful showcase of how important jits is on a fight. Like they know how to scrap with hands but not to tue super polished mma style level you see where guys sort of nullify grappling. It plays out like a real fighr whivh it is

He’s correct about fighting back in the day. I was in high school in the later 70’s. I was bullied in grade school and used that chip to learn how to box and wrestle and do a little karate. Then I grew. I had a great jaw. An incredible punch and a short fuse for bullies. Like he said we fought. No guns. No knives. I was in close to 50 street fights. And only a few times don’t a night in a lock up. It was just an accepted fact of being a guy in certain crowds. Something that could save a lot of lives if reimplemented today.
