- "These baroque composers knew the instrument they were writing for," says Alison Balsom. Her album Royal Fireworks captures the joy and solemnity of this dazzling musical era, through trumpet works by Handel, Purcell, Bach, and Telemann. Discover here: wce.lnk.to/rfLY
"I’ve been making recordings for almost 20 years and this has been by far the most enjoyable recording experience I’ve had," says Alison. "The music is full of utter joy and magic, the versions we play are often new, and in some cases quite maverick. The thrill of recording with some of the greatest artists around, all of us on Baroque instruments, who happen to also be my good friends, has been a privilege."

The level of skill to play with that type of tone on the trumpet is absolutely insane.
Yes I agree
I think its the most beautyful baroque adagio... Gratulations Alison.
When Alison plays, the voice of angels speak through music.
Has there ever been a more beautiful work for trumpet? And has anyone ever played it more perfectly?
Alison is simply the best at what she does Cheers!
What a wonderful blow, Miss Alison Balsom, such a beautiful instrument played with such soft love. A divine touch of a wonderfully classic musical poem. Bravus Alison Balsom!
All of that fine music, and dimples, too.
Telemann's such a great composer and this concerto is absolutely beautiful. Alison Balsom's musicianship is amazing.
I apologize for dismissing Telemann's music in the past. That was sublime.
There's no need to apologize for your changed conception of the music of Telemann. It is a pretty complex music that needs a certain understanding and maturity. Sometimes you need to mature to completely understand the inner core and essence of the music.
I feel you brother, I feel you
@@tobiasstudtheol bruh are you gatekeeping Telemann
The baroque trumpet in the hands of Allison Balsam is absolutely sublime.
El mejor Maurice André, despues los demas
@@miguelherrero4879 alors il y a two mejores !
@@patrickbailet8574hai perfettamente ragione,my friend!!! Sono in 2 !!!
A physical, mental and spiritual experience
Birthing beautiful multidimensional life to original masterworks is mystical. Thank you for gracing us by persevering through this most difficult piece.
This is what the word 'wow' was invented for. Astonishing performance and dynamics from a woman who only has to turn up to impress.
Incredible long fluid phrases played by a master. Amazing!
Was für wunderbare Töne! Danke an diese hervorragende Trompeterin! Heilung für die Seele❤
Alison in my opinion one of the greatest trumpet musicians of our age. If I get to heaven this is what I imagine will be playing at the gates
Hearing this played on the Baroque/natural trumpet at A=415 really changed my opinion on this concerto. Never loved it on piccolo trumpet at A=440, but like this… just so much that you don’t get with most other recordings. Really awesome.
That final expiration by the artist provides insight into how difficult it is to play with such control and delicacy at an extreme register. Reminds me a bit of Adolph Herseth--huge, effortless sound, but his face would turn beet red all the while.
Jouer ce largo en ré majeur de Telemann avec une trompette naturelle,et avec cette belle sonorité,quelle magnifique performance !félicitations madame.
...some of the very finest music I've ever heard!
That was incredible, what an amazing and beautiful tone from that natural trumpet! And I love the ending! That's how I feel every time I finish practicing a piece! (I'm a beginner trombonist)
This is such beautiful music
I feel as though Telemann had suffered, in previous decades, from being played in a too-classical style. He is one of the composers that has benefited the most from the baroque instrument revival.
I am having my coffin carried into the Church with this playing
My favorite movement of my favorite Baroque piece. Well done Alison Balsom!
Sublime! l'instrument, la musique, son interprétation;...

Beautifully played. Telemann's music is a real jewel. It's a pity it isn't played even more.
Glorious
What an exquisite and smooth sound! Such a wonderfully talented lady
Perfect performance, and Alison beautiful!!!

Alison toujours aussi magnifique sa façon de jouer, la meilleure à mes oreilles.... Je ne m'en lasse pas 💕

Wonderful Alison ! You are fantastique !
Exquisitely beautiful
I love this instrumentalist!
magnificent! simple yet stunning music!
Well said: "Terrific!" Really beautiful!! What a control!
INCREDIBLE
Lovely!!!!
Her face at the end. So real. This movement is so hard
It looks like it's around the same range as a modern B-flat trumpet and she's playing pretty high up, like high C and a bit above, for a lot of the notes, plus it's classical so it has to be dead-on, no jazzing around, so yeah.
It's early music, especially baroque. 😉
Playing the instrument is not a walk in the park, either.
I played this piece this semester as a jury for my lessons on the A-side of the piccolo trumpet. The first movement was always the hardest to get through because it’s the slowest movement the trumpet plays on, around eighth note equals 68 bpm. The entire piece is beautiful, and I loved playing it this semester
@@alexcarter8807 Jazz trumpet melody notes are accurately pitched, as well, and must be that way, even more urgently than for classical pieces. The melodies are usually a combination of chromatic tones and those of the particular seven-note scale.
dude...how gorgeous was that
Phantastisch !!!
Beautiful...in every way!
Alison's playing is beautiful. Her pure tone insures that.
Wonderful, as always! Alison Balsom is without a doubt one of the premier trumpeters of our era!
Superbe
I have yet to see a player who can play this without looking like they in immense pain
I play the trumpet. What she did on that old horn was remarkable. Wow.
I adore and love this continuo realization played by theorbo (apart the extraordinary performance of Alison!)
She's a fine accomplished musician.
I would enjoy hearing her perform something other than the standard literature.
Like the Fisher Tull Trumpet Concertos etc.
.. it is beyond.. impossible, to play like this..
Incredible
Lindíssimo 🌟sublime🌟 maravilhosa 🤝obrigada🤝 por 🤝partilhar🌟 saudades 🇵🇹
Very beautiful 👌
The music of Faso is an inexhaustible source of sweetness.
It allows us to plunge deep inside ourselves and at the same time resonate with our fellow man, Yé Lassina Coulibaly❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Congratulações Alison balson
De uma suavidade tão comovente ! De uma delicadeza tão condizente com sua intérprete: Alison !
Brilliant Alison! In one take I hope!
wonderfull beauty of sound ,thank you
Great control of intonation and articulation
Bravissima e bellissima
Vraiment très joli, joué d'une façon de maître.
Wunderbare Alison.Handkuss.
Dieses Werk strahlt geradezu himmlische Ruhe aus.
Großartig!!!
Beautiful as always Alison!
Esas notas altas y extendidas en verdad es muy fuerte y la claridad de ellas es perfecta señora Alison!
Melodious and fine , better than a valve instrument. Great !
Wonderful!!
That was amazing... As usual!!
Bellissima melodia.
Remarquable ! C'est déjà très dur avec une trompette à pisons; alors là avec une trompette naturelle cela relève de l'exploit. Bravo Alison; vous faites honneur à votre instrument et à l'art musical.
She is beautiful, plays marvelously well, her albums are superb. She has several You Tube videos worth checking out.
Big breath at 2:00.
Fantastic.
Wow
Wow, that was awesome
I do love Telemann. And I’m more aware now how difficult it is to perform on period instruments 🎺. I played percussion and piano as a kid and now have a greater appreciation for other instruments 🎻
This lady is not only a great trumpet player, but she is also very beautiful.
Bravo 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Magnificent!!!!
It is a content that expresses the goodness of baroque trumpet in a simple but wonderful performance. From SUMAKARU
Stunning.
That was fabulous - it must be a difficult instrument to play..
How cool is that
perfect
IMPRESIONANTE !!!!
Very good playing! But even professionals have their limits when it comes to breath it seems and push them maximally in order to play so beautifully!
In 1996 Niklas Eklund recorded this. In tune, with beautiful articulations. Beautiful pace and coloured in actually blending in with the ensemble. That is all I’ll say about it.
I would like to learn to play that baroque trumpet!

"Lo, there in the ruins of old Rome, lay a dream, for man, of man, and all of the promises that civilization keeps trying to keep. Mercy, compassion, triumph, ingenuity, sacrifice, reward... how often we have missed the mark, and slide down into the mud again... resting, hibernating to the long clock, the procession of the sun around the moon, and ourselves around our ideals... dark ages, enlightenment, suffering, prosperity, (Perhaps we suffer from prosperity much too often, bereft of humility, aspiring to be gods among mortals, forever fearful of both our potential, and our shortcomings.). Let us rest for a while, citizens, and join anew, that which is to come. "
