I care for an old Italian lady she is in her 90s and has gifted one of these to me as she can no longer see. Thank you so much for these informative demos they have helped a lot x
the best older machine in the world! my mother has one from the 70's and still works like a Swiss watch. I love it. I have a NECCHI Q421A. Necchi is a great Italian brand synonymous with great quality. NECCHI ITALIAN PRIDE!
I looked up the book on this one, and I figured out why I can't get the seam to look right on the underside. This video showed me I missed a step on threading it. So hopefully this should fix it. I was given this sewing machine.
Hi, I thought the bobbins usually should turn clockwise. The way I thought you inserted the bobbin was going to rotate anti clockwise. It might work just the same either way after all. I just got a Lydia 2 which is all ceased up and watching your video for inspiration.
The orientation of the bobbing is wrong according to my manual. The thread should come up on the left side of the bobbin anf then go through the tension hole.
Why is a plastic bobbin being just on this vintage machine. Wouldn't a metal bobbin be used/better? Just wondering... Thanx for posting this and for being so clear and detailed!!! Also how heavy/thick textiles can this machine take without stressing or damaging the motor?
The machine was shipped with plastic bobbins. Necchi was way ahead of the rest of the sewing machine motor. The machine was sold as a domestic machine so only fabrics you can pick up at your standard fabric store. It will do light weight leather and denim but garment grade not holster or saddle thickness.
I have this machine, same model, but I can't seem to get the tension right. The underside of the garment has very very loose stitching. Any ideas anyone? What number do you have showing on the dial near the light bulb? Thank you.

Thank you for the video, I've just bought the Alice version (with no instructions) so similar to this one. Now I can thread my machine.
Very informative and clear! Thanks for the video as I'm now waiting for my Necchi mk3 to arrive that I bought on ebay :-)

So helpful thank you!
I inherited one of these, just unpacked it,and the foot pedal is not present. any ideas where I'm get a replacement?
Is it a heavy duty machine? Can it sew through denim and leather?
Why is pedal depressed and machine sewing without my foot on it? I'm plugged into an extension cord because can't reach direct outlet
Sounds like the pedal is stuck down. You might check to see if you can clean it.

Hi on the bobbin case there is a tension setting slide. Hope that helps!
@@MrFractetra Thank you. I have tried adjusting it but it doesn't make a difference.
