If the 2020’s could be summed up into a sentence: “Never wish to live in *interesting* times.”
I have a feeling it's all going to get a lot more interesting.

Interesting? Meh.
_"Italy's democratic party is opposing the pact, because prime minister Giorgia Meloni…backs it."_ This is the most ridiculous recent trend in politics. You don't have to support the opposite of your opponents on everything. That just creates further polarization, divison, stalemate, and escalates destructive culture wars which waste everyone's time and resources.
PD is also very pro immigration, at least historically
True but when you and your opponent are diametrically opposed on this issue then this will happen
I really wish people in power stopped acting like children, supporting something just because someone else opposes it and opposing another just because the other one supports it.
If the far right is backing it then the policy might actually be effective
Congrats you just realized the Libertarian criticism of Democracy.

I'm a Software Engineer with 5 years experience. Musk's prediction is absolute garbage. The real problem with AI is the trade-off between free learning versus speed of development. We can make an AI that can chat with you, make images, or whatever, but it can't do much more than what it was programmed to do because it lacks any kind of ability to learn beyond what it was trained on. In the converse, AI's that are programmed to learn have trouble discriminating between types of input and never end up making real progress. Human Intelligence is the result of millions of years of selective pressures by a harsh environment--it's pure arrogance to think we can reproduce the same in less than 20
Yeah, when the segment starts "Elon Musk says..." I know I can tune out whatever comes next. :P Dude's an absolute moron; the greatest trick he pulled was convince everyone that he's an engineer.
I call bull. The improvement of AI is exponential. Once a (unknown) threshold is crossed the AI will improve so fast we will have realized it surpassed us when it’s too late. All experts agree on this basic principle. 5 years of experience vs all experts of the field including the heads of OpenAI and separately Musk (his timeline being ridiculous but not the principle of it)… yeah not taking your word. Keep writing code tho.
@@extrapolateI’m not saying that those experts are wrong, but they do have reason to be biased. Their profits (in the case of companies) or funding (in the case of researches) is dependent on hype. So experts might be over-promising a bit on AI’s capabilities to keep the money flowing. This can be an issue with any emerging field
@@extrapolate "All experts" certainly dont believe generalized intelligence is imminent or even possible. The people who say that are mostly trying to sell you something. See Elon.

A full video on the pact would be great. Figuring out the details has been hard for me
This was not very informative about the contents of the policy.
Right. IRAN is angry their embassy was violated, yet they held American embassy diplomats hostage for over a year not that long ago….
They also have a history of attacks on embassies. Like in Argentina back in the 90s
@JG-MV Nobody hates Iran, they hate the current theocratic fascist government. Do you even know what theocratic fascism is? Btw, I love Iran and Iranians. 🇮🇷
@JG-MVNot the government. They are the ones doing this and "represent" the country. I'm sure Iranian people are nice.
@JG-MV Yes, the US intervenes in other countries - I know this is unfair and stupid of them. However it doesnt excuse what the Iranian government is doing now and has been doing.
Wow its almost like they did it with a reason that being that America is sanctioning the hell out of them, forcing others to sanction them as well. Killed a general whos was pretty important and respected figure
Who cares about Elon Musk. Maybe let's focus on important stuff.
He's rich and loud, so the stuff he says affects the world, accurate or not
Unfortunately true
He is the leader of a dangerous cult, it's wise to keep an eye on him.
The measures to reduce car usage isn’t just to make the city greener. It’s to make it more productive. Cars = traffic and there’s just no way around that basic fact. No amounts of lanes will change that as seen in the huge Texas highways. The solution is public transportation that’s easy to use and well thought out, and bikes. Lots of bikes.
Why is traffic inherently bad? It's completely missing the point. All traffic is just people and goods being transported, which is done much more conveniently than any billion dollar public transit is capable of. Even NYC with density orders of magnitude higher than most of the USA fails to do public transit cost effectively. Half of new Yorkers own cars.
@@lightfeather9953 traffic is bad when it's so congested that transportation becomes slow. That's pretty much it
It'd be interesting to see that happening in USA. We would witness big cars and trucks honking at bikes and flooding them in big black clouds of smoke to "show em leftists naggers" daring to use a bike instead of a big vroom vroom.
07:17 less car congestion, and less air pollution.
Idk why musk's ai predictions are newsworthy
Elon Musk believes it will take until the end of next year for AI to surpass human intelligence? Nah, I am sure it's already smarter than him.
Ok, that's not a technical achievement though... When do we get artificial intelligence that surpasses disabled RUclips commenters?
Hating on individuals instead of organized groups that negatively affect the lives of many is probably something AI is far past beyond
Is it fun trying to insinuate that someone who is factually better than you is stupid somehow?
Oh he might be better off than me financially, but it was because he was born into it. I can confidently say that i am morally superior to nazi sympathizer elon musk.@@Doyourbest4245

@@tbk2010You'd have to go case by case. Some settled fine and are doing ok.
Migrants will show up whether or not the government makes it policy to treat them as humans or as animals.
That being said, the working class will still demand we treat migrants as animals, even though it won't help them or even stop migration, because that's one of the few policy levers the businessmen will let them touch.
"Oh, you're tired of us shipping your jobs to China? Sorry, no can do, Omelas needs you to stay in the hole for the rest of your life."
"Oh, you want the migrants to go away? Sure thing, we can dig a second hole in your hole to shove another Omelas kid into."
It's a very calculated and cynical ploy to keep the neoliberalism machine running while they find new ways to shut down progressive liberals and left-wingers.
While they may always attempt at least in USA there is a big surge of migrants when policies are laxer. For example when people hear about how harsh Trumps policies are(whether true or not doesn’t matter) many stopped coming and numbers were lower. Currently record numbers come for Biden even tho his admin does deport too. While number will never be zero if they do deport and make it harder the numbers will naturally get lower. Prob easiest way would be to make laws that migrants don’t get benefits till something like 20 years of paying taxes
And we care what Elon has to say about anything because....?
He's wealthy and the leader of the techbro cult, so unfortunately a lot of investors listen to him.
It is a more unified policy, but we'll have to wait and see as to how it is actually enforced to judge its effectiveness
We could not get citizens of the outskirts of Stockholm to bike into the city (Well, its at least a bit harder for us than for others) because our city is surrounded by water to the south, east and west. To the north, the edge of the city lays on a high plateau, beneath which a massive highway and a railroad stretches, which you could hardly pass by bike. I'm so jealous of every other city that doesn't need to build large bridges for people to get, well, anywhere!
you hardly talked about what actually was in the pact.. why?
They don't have much time and showing whose backing it and who isn't is also important
You can bet it's toothless, so they want the news to be, we are working on it, don't worry. with the hope people will keep paying taxes while they are replaced.
Maybe theyll do a full Video on it after it has been voted on.
This is the daily news, they rarely have the time to go into much detail and there's no point in explaining the pact if it fails anyway. Knowing them, they'll definitely make a full video on it if the vote actually pass.
When will the podcast segment come back? I really miss it, I feel it was a great opportunity to talk about more news in a more discussion format

Musk is roundabout correct in terms of processing speed, ie floating point operation equivalent. But in terms of neural network weights vs synapses in the brain, we are still around an order of magnitude away, so end of the decade is far more realistic or even later. And finally, just because you have a model that's as big as a brain, doesn't mean it's been properly configured in such a way it can replicate it's abilities to learn. A multi modal general intelligence with equivalent planning and reasoning skills to that of a human has not yet been seriously attempted.

Require all prospective non-EU licensed professionals to take intensive French, German, and Spanish courses and pass B2-level language proficiency exams before they can be granted working visas to work in Europe.
