When physical death comes, the 'less-constrained' spirit leaves every worldly thing behind (including the body). The spectacle of the physical world is like a fair or a carnival and purely transient.
Kabir reminds us that we are like a leaf severed from the universal spirit (the tree) and can be blown away by the gust of unfulfilled desires. In such a state, it is difficult to predict where the leaf (or the spirit) will finally land once it leaves the tree of universal oneness.
All through life, we are led by our own desires. When death comes, we are alone; it is then that we realise that following others is not as meaningful as following our own inner voice. 'Kala' (or Yama) or time is relentless.
Kabir reinforces the idea that consistent dedication to God ought to be our only guide. But also warns us that everybody (including both Guru and Disciple) must sow what they reap.
