Please rework the English subtitles. Words like "possesses" The shaman actually meant "serves" and that the baby spirit lands on her not 'ghost' either. It's important to clarify this because in English and western interpretations of non-monothesitic traditions, these words have different implications and meaning.

english doesnt justify korean at all.but using polite terms and acceptable grammar sends the message. in this particular instance korean shamanism and korean religion is unique so learning korean is very important and understanding the subtitle using korean learning as background should help people discern what the vid is really trying to say.

LOOOOVE this!! Thank you so much for making this. I have been interested in knowing more about Korean shamanism but I find very little information in English (or Spanish), and I am barely learning Korean.
Some of what she says seems similar to people called "curanderos" in Mexican culture, but this shamanism seems a lot more structured, and for curanderos they read candles or tarot cards, or use some form of divination tool, whereas here it seems shamans just master the art of putting themselves in a receptive mode for possession.
I would love to know more about why they use the hand fan, and why does the sound of the bells help in channeling the spirits.
Also about what type of methods they use to cleanse people of spirits or curses.
Please consider doing more videos on this aspects of Korean culture that are more rooted in ancient times and not so much on modern entertainment industry.
Maybe visit a haunted place in Korea? I head there are a lot of them.

i don't believe in ghosts but this was highly interesting, as i like seeing the logic behind those kind of rituals. but i must confess if you work at it you can become a good reader of people and tell very exact stories of their paths, i do it with tarot for fun. there are these patterns and phrases that repeat themselves and general statements that culturally binds a lot of people (like studying in korea, or a man getting angry when at his boiling point because they typically repress their emotions). then you go on the reactions.
i'm not saying she's a scam or anything, she looks very gifted and says greed is bad which is reassuring. but you have to be conscious that there may be multiple explanations for a lot of the things you see, some paranormal and some not

Em well that’s not what she is. There are no patterns in speaking if you actually know about Korean Shamans. They worship goddesses/gods as we have many shamans in Korea. But they are different than psychic/ clairvoyant or tarot cause they are more accurate. THEY Can study and make it look real. If Moodang’s real, she CAN’T STUDY. Usually something keeps happening to her/him negatively till they accept their journey. For that Moodang, she used to have her legs paralyzed. So she needed to accept her faith. (Shinnaerim: Coming God) Then she could walk. So what do you say?
Not every Moodang is like her but I’ve been following her for many months and she’s real. There are nothing to do reactions or etc lol. It’s not science. Korea has lots of history and one blood usually - and Moodang(Shaman)’s are always have been the part of us.

Thanks for the very interesting interview! That gave a lot of insight
On a different topic, I just want to point out that the examination at 3:19 is a Sagittal reconstruction CT Scan of her spine, not an 'x-ray' per se, although CT do use x rays. Also, the date of examination is visible, which is 2011, and she revealed that she had that accident when she was 17 years old, so we can guess that she is now 26 years old. I don't know if this is general information or not, just want to point it out in case you want to hide that information if the interviewee would rather not spread her information about
Also interesting, that kind of burst fracture with posterior column involvement and spinal canal involvement usually has lasting irreversible sequels even with stat decompression procedure. Props to the korean medical team who handled her, and/or that in itself is already a miracle or a 'symptom'

I came to know shamanism from kdramas and always wanted a reliable source to explain what it is about, since is different from what we see in western religions, even the ones that deals with spirits. Nothing is better to learn about a system of beliefs than to first hear about it from someone involved in it! I do believe in spirits but the would never be able to tell you what your future would look like nor know anything about your personality. They are spirits no God but to be honest korean drama made them more interesting and really showed how they operate in the korean culture

This is one of the tons of reasons why this world keeps on walking to its own Destruction...
If people keep on summoning Entities of Darkness, and even worst, worshipping them, they're going to have to Purify that through (more)Suffering here on earth, until it has been Fully paid.

In Hungary a real shaman lives in secrecy and only chosen ones deserve to know about their identity. Very hard to find a real Hungarian shaman and surprisingly they call good ghosts that you ask for help or to just talk to angels instead of ghosts. Not easy to explain in English but i was given a name and a drawing of an angel to make contact with because i was told that it is too dangerous to try to make contact with a random spirit that could possess me if it was evil. Shaman also put me in a trance so i could see some of my past lives. Heard of a story of a shaman teacher putting like a curse on a student for not paying extra money for lessons so the student would always feel cold or something. That student could move light object with his mind and other shaman could read my mind which i did not feel comfortable with but i was only 15 so i didn't go down that path to experiment with the unknown. I was told i was sensitive to spirits/ghosts and had some special abilities but i just blocked out all that more than 20 years ago. This video was very interesting. Can't wait to see more

In India there are Tantrics who communicate with Spirits or ghosts which are called low level entities. But it is not recommended at all to communicate with them because after the person( who communicates with spirits) is dead he wont get Moksha(liberation) , instead he will get stuck with them and roam around in the earth just like them. It is advised to communicate with Higher entities like gods or even Demi gods in Tantra. Because they are the only one which can erase your bad karmas and give Moksha in this life time or in the next life time.

Really interesting video and interview! We have a similar practice in Singapore where there are Taoist mediums who can get possessed by specific gods and they will speak to you and advise you on your concerns and big decisions. Just wondering - was that all that the 'baby angel' said? Or did you cut out certain parts for privacy reasons? Because it seems that she did not really give you guys a lot of advice etc. (over here in Singapore, the gods usually gives advice, on-top of their reading of the person). Really enjoy your videos, thank you!

If you think she is acting or deceiving you, please think again. Of course, it's not logical or scientific to believe what can't be proved. But you should accept that there's no logical or scientific way to prove she is not real. Please learn more about Korean Shamanism.

True. But you wouldn't know whether this person owned a business and not ran well. You wouldn't know whether this person has study left to do especially when they said they graduated.

Wow... Defo an interesting vlog to-date James! I can see she's certainly a genuine person, and the things she said about you and your friends, you put 'true' as only both of you can confirm so. You didn't ask her to tell your future, because I'm sure that's rather a private thing, and she read your character and what you did before very well. We are also getting to know a part of you through her! 👍 Ok, we will wish you happy birthday next March! 🤗 Kamsahamnida 💖

The deity that descends upon the shaman featured in the video is not a baby angel. In traditional Korean religion, baby angels are called 'dongja' and they assist the deities. The deity that descends upon the shaman in the video is young but holds a divine status, and incorrectly translating that deity as a baby angel could be offensive to them.

Long before any 'organized' religion established in Korean peni sula shamanism (also in many parts of Siberia the Americas etc) was and is the original 'religion' of Korea. There are high spirits of many mountains of Korea or past great generals or shaman's own ancestral spirits who had previous been shamans come to 'choose' their disciples. Most shamans have several spirits/gods that communucate with them (generals children mountain gods and their own ancestors). They are not to be rich by being a shama or do any prayer rites to break apart a relationship or hurt anyone (lest the shamans suffer greatly) Like any 'profession' there will be competent not so effective, genuine, who who will dupe a customer..etc. Most shamas unwittingly accept their fate as their health or family's health or financial ruins follw when one refuses to 'accept' the beckoning call of this spirits. No family would want their child to being q shaman but if the fate is such it has to be so.

Yess, this is a very interesting content! More like this pls! When talking about SK, people would talk about about typical topics, such as kbeauty, kdrama related and kpop related. I love Simon and Martina when they lived in SK back when, because they would give opinions as how they experience it as a foreigner. And I like that. It's the same with you, it's just that you're a local. Will be waiting for more content from you James!

This was fascinating. Good stuff. I might be wrong here, but I don't think Muslims consider Allah a God but as a prophet of God. Same w Jesus but then there's that whole holy trinity thing they got going where Jesus and God are the same thing. Shrug.

my husband recently has been watching a yotube channel with older ladies who are shaman, I don't understand it (husband sucks at explaining) but they have a loooooooooot of rituals, I guess depending on the person who need their help. when the shaman get possessed they get very intense like her talking like a baby/kid and sometimes as elders, they get physical as well but I've seen it 2 times (saw one slap a guy and the other was pushing n pulling). hopefully you can experience (view) a shaman performing an exorcism lol

Fascinating! I am curious, since she did not attend the earthly academy to learn the shaman rituals, and attended the academy in her dreams instead, is she accepted as a true shaman in the greater Korean shaman community? (My apologies if I did not understand the translation correctly.)
