    It is very similar to all shamanistic systems....Loved the dancing with the knives and it put me to mind of the Santeria Orisha Ogun..........this was very similar to a african bembe.......I believe these natural beliefs stem from a very real existing spirit world and our common human bond to it......not from mimicking other cultures but from the spirit world directly. This is why they are similar

    This is amazing. Till now i used to think only Christians and Buddhists religion is there in korea. This is eye opener! Just fascinating as its the root of korean culture and tradition. Amazing and i am so lucky to find this... Just yesterday only i came across "Pansori" and im hooked on this way of telling stories.
    Thank so much.

    Those loud musics, Knives and aggressive dance moves those represent violence, Various colors with high saturation. Everythimg in the ritual confuses you and they also make you feel kinda dizzy too. Shamans are like well trained counsellor, they actually do give you some useful advices. These are what people to believe in their supernatural power. This is why most of shamanism rituals in many countries actually look similar.

      In ancient countries, people didn't get chance to experience the strong stimulation unlike people in modern society those are already familiar with the stimulations because of video games and movies. That's why some people used to pass out or to look like they were possessed during the ritual in the past.

    Do we know anything about whether or not they use consciousness altering plants or fungi in their shamanism?

    • @hippiekorea8182
      @hippiekorea8182  8 лет назад +2

      in Korea they mostly use Korean Alcohol Soju or Makkuli and eventually smoke cigarettes....but we will ask a Shaman for confirmation. Thank you

      +Howard Blott They do not use mind altering drugs like LSD/mushrooms like other shaman traditions in Europe/Americas. They enter trance through dance, music and singing/chanting.

      We do not use any mind altering plants or drugs The high amounts of body movements and brass and drum sounds put us into a trance state

      Only 20% of this planet's shamans use plant medicine to get into trance, & those cultures are all in the Americas. The rest of the shamans of this world use a sonic-based technique (drums, rattles, gongs, singing bowls) to shift into an altered state of consciousness.
