Truly excellent! I’ve been having huge problems with my old 71C and made the mistake of having it rebuilt by a complete bunch of marine transmissions cowboys in Stalham Norfolk U.K. Having gone out of my way to understand what they did so utterly wrong and causing my Velvet Drive to fail completely due to incompetence, your video series has given me the confidence to pull apart the box and investigate myself. It turns out that the cowboys fitted a new oil pump to an older main shaft than the one you show which has a half moon shaped woodruff key and after reassembly, simply fell out inside and totalled the box. Old shaft, back plate oil pump, new shaft, new style oil pump and woodruff key. Simples when you know. Thanks so very much!❤
You need to share if there are little things we need to watch for. Other than that it looks pretty straight forward. But the music makes you about go crazy. Thank for filming though.
95% of the marine mechanics won’t attempt this. It’s specialized. An unforeseen subtlety can be a nightmare. Most will send it in for repair and/or replace. Just R&R and move to the next job, make the safe money. For the do it yourselfers, it may be worth your time, but get the service manual.
The setting of the pump depends on which direction your motor rotates. There is a right and left direction motor. The pump must be adjusted accordingly to operate. If the setting is incorrect, the transmission will not work!
Would it have killed you to give a few pointers along the way? Don't need a full narration or tons of commentary but total silence is frustrating. Thanks for at least filming the process though.
only The video is made to have an idea of what parts are in it. lots of people are happy before getting the first thing. there is a little video material. It's just a picture material! no special advice. I'm sorry .
@@sz.laszlo Question in neutral my prop spins in forward slightly. Could it be the control valve or vent? Paint looks new on trans. looking for rebuild manual as well. ty
John Wilson it could be a control valve, but if it was recently rebuilt, and the clutch pack clearance wasn’t checked you could have a tight clutch pack. Had this happen to me. This video doesn’t show it but you need to check the clearance and adjust with special spacer rings if out of spec.
John Wilson You could have a warped clutch disc. This can happen if the selector wasn’t fully in gear and power was applied then there was slippage with friction. Sorry, it usually means a teardown.

I'm glad my video helped you. Welcome
Thanks for the tuition, always appreciated.

Next time leave the bearing out until the piston housing is in then fit the bearing you find it easier 👍
Im from Brazil Marcelo . Good working my friend 🙋👏👏👏👍
Thanks
I'm thinking you shouldn't hammer down onto the bearing during assembly. It can cause brinelling.
hello. Is it possible to transform a 1x1 reverser into a 2x1??
Hello. I'm not sure . But I don't think it's possible. If you can, ask a specialist.

Curious what you are brushing on with the paint brush. - is it ATF, gasoline or ?
Lol meant vasoline not gasoline
I wonder what symptoms you would have if the pump was installed 180 out? Would it work still?

If you could cut 15 minutes out of this poorly executed video it. Might be worth watching.
