I’d of thought bolts would be better to hold that blanking plate to manifold. My experience with Allen key figments is they round of easy. After some years have passed I don’t think you would ever get the Allen key bolts out again, and suppose you shouldn’t need to if the Allen key bolts let you tighten it enough in the first place to never have a leak there. I might be over thinking it, but I just think bolts would be better. Thanks for vid. It’s the most in depth one I’ve seen yet on how to remove 👌
Just a question: what did you end up doing with the plugs for the pressure sensor and pump? Did you cut them out or leave them dangling there? Im thinking of doing this exact mod to my '09 2.0T.
I kept the factory electrical pigtails on the car intact and in place. I made caps to protect the pigtails. Fast forward to 18:50 and you can see how I protected them.
@@WeakestofWeeks oh of course the one part of the video I decided to stop watching is the part I needed lol. Very good solution for the pigtails, since its easily reverisble! Thanks
I have the P0411 code for the SAI on my 08 9-3 aero and I am thinking about removing SAI system and going with do88 downpipe instead. No cats to warm up or worry about. So your setup basically. I have stage 0 vtuner right now. Do i need a separate tune for SAI delete?
That'll be a solid set up! Unfortunately you will need to get the SAI code tuned out once the components are removed. Since you already have a vtune talk with Brian he may cut you a deal.
Brian is VermontTuning. Go to his website and ask how much a tune to disable the SAI system will cost. Or go on FB and reach out to Pedro's Performance
Will the SAI delete using the tune cause a smog failure in states that smog? I replaced the SAI pump in my 2006 aero (it was seized), cleared the codes, but the P0411 code is back. I really dont want to replace both check valves!
Depends on location. I've heard in less strict areas that you can disable the SAI system with a tune but leave the components in place and still pass smog. I'd double check that though.
Im in PA so not worried about smog test. CEL is on now and cant pass emissions testing. If i delete the SAI will the CEL stay on all the time? Is yours on? Thanks for quick reply and great videos. Learned alot.
I discussed this a bit in the vid. Basically the SAI is pointless with a catless downpipe and midpipe. I also wanted to get rid of the aging system to free up room by the starter.
My sai pump is making a noise (puppy crying) so I disconnected the connector but it’s still making noise. Any pointers or anyone else have the same issue. Funny thing is it doesn’t make any noise when the engine is cold but once the engine warms up it’s a continuous noise. It’s embarrassing when the car is idle mostly on red lights lol. It seems to me that the system is constantly working, even after the cats heat up.
You can leave the system installed on the car, you don't have to fully remove like I did but have a professional tuner turn the SAI system off. If you leave the system in and simply unplug the sensors it will throw check engine lights.
Why not stuff a shop rag between the manifold and the heat shield so you don't have to worry about things going down there? I mean. Sometimes it's just the simple things that people don't think about.
You literally have some of the best instructional videos I have ever seen! Can't wait to see how you enjoy the tune!
Thanks friend!!

I found a plug for the intake pipe at a local junk yard on a 2.0 air box I believe a 2003 or 2004 it matched the original style pinch plug too
Awesome! Thanks for sharing!!
This dude is amazing and I love his videos
💓Saab 4 Ever
amazing video thanks so much
For what engine code failures ?

I packed mine full of dialectic grease zip tied them together

is there another way to remove the sai from programming? how to find Brian?

Does the Tech2 have the ability to remove the SAI system?
Not to my knowledge. I had it tuned out by Vermont Tuning

I have saab 9-5 2007 the key control not work I don't know why. Where is the receiver? Can you please do a video for that
What is the purpose of removing the secondary air intake?
I discussed this a bit in the vid. Basically the SAI is pointless with a catless downpipe and midpipe. I also wanted to get rid of the aging system to free up room by the starter.
But why?
Frees up space in the engine bay. Less moving parts
Can you do the check engine light fix with a Tech2 on this SAI delete?
Unfortunately no, the SAI codes need turned off by a tuner. I had Brian at VermontTuning disable my SAI codes
The pipe will make a good spare oil drain pipe for the turbo. It’s the same flange, no?
I think you're right about the flange! Never thought about that 🤔
My buddy is having issues with a light going on oil pressure sensor and man is it a task to get it off
Yeah thats not a fun job at all.

What would happen if i leave it on the car and just delete it off the system?
I would get the error code off and dont need any plugs?Or it dose not work that way?

I agree great suggestion! I never thought I'd drop anything down into that abyss. Having a shop rag there would have saved me so much time!
