I’m a former engineer from Saab. I have a neat feature for you Saab guys. If you have a 9-3 SS You can have auto opening of trunk. On the right side under the rear trim in the trunk where the spring is attached to the “swan neck” hinge of the tail gate. Detach the spring and attach it from left to right instead from right to left. (Don’t remeber what it is from beginning). We actually durability tested this and it passed. This fix never made it to production, but I always did this on my own 9-3 SS. Just push the key FOB trunk key and the tail gate will auto open. The handling forces of the trunk will also be very less, almost free weighted. Take care!
I am trying to do this but I couldn’t make work. Maybe I am looking to the wrong spring 😊 Is there any forum page or video that explains how to do it? Thanks in advance

Seeing how nice your condition is makes me feel bad my 04 aero is probabaly headed toward the junkyard soon. I'm in love with the car after 10 years, but has way too many issues now. I can't even believe your buttons aren't peeled off. it's a very well built engine and reliable car. And fun on top of that
@@AutoAutopsy yeah. It’s not bad condition interior is good and runs fine but I just wonder who is gonna buy it as it’s really showing it’s age and needs work. Stuff like leaks oil, flex pipe is busted, fuel sensor doesn’t work, passenger window doesn’t go down, paint missing on back bumper and front lip broken, ac broken. And bunch of other little things. I got it lowered beyond even aero specs and it’s so fun to handle and I’m gonna miss that combined the the quiet but quick acceleration it’s got.
On my '08 SAAB 9-3 if I hold the lock button while I'm outside the car the windows roll up. And if you hold unlock they roll down. Also tons of people are going to require you show off that quirky cupholder on the dash. Additionally, the windshield wiper settings are more fine tuned than on any other car I've been in if you want to cover that
So I'm about to buy a 2008 9-3 aero 2.0.. I was wondering if you could tell me what other Saab models or years are compatible if you could.. there is a 2003 9-3 for parts 300$ an I was thinking about getting with it
In the Wagon / Estste 93 you get a metal Saab Airplane in the floor of the rear boot space, which is a handle for lifting the floor up so you can access the spare wheel. You do t get this on the hatchback / saloon versions.
Turn of your engine take out the key open the door, flash the high beam once and the "follow me home lights" turns on! But you probaly knows this already.. (sorry for my bad english)
To the accessory button you can, for example, buy a Saab plug&play harness kit with a relay that you placed in an pre-installed open relay slot in the fuse box in the engine compartment and that makes it quick and easy to install extra high beam lights in the front (button then is for on/off extra lights when the car is on high beam). It’s an option that is quite popular in north of Sweden. Original fitted smart slot is intended to be used for credit card etc. For the next video you can show how to see the engine oil quality, how to use the coming-home lights and how to program the ACC unit (see user manual)
I've always used that smart slot for a credit card holder (pretty much exclusively when going through a drive-thru), but I never really thought that was the intended function. Little things. One more reason I'd hate to drive anything other than a Saab.
No related to the video content, the Turbo X has a vacuum leak, when you were showing the side mirror tilt feature you can hear the vacuum pump kicking in and out
We were wondering what the noise behind the passenger headlight was.... thanks as we just got this car and didn't even have to search 🙃 6:00 is where you can hear it for those wondering 👍
Why does my saab 93 has a telephone call icon the supposely accept calls but there is no aux or Bluetooth thing and in fm transmiter does not work? Saab from 2005
I think there is a feature that no one called and I'm not sure if it's a real feature or mine is just kind of broken... When I put the wipers on the slowest interval and touch the lever with just a slight push (no clicking) the wipers do a single turn. If the lever is faulty, then this fault is pretty useable :D
I take my '06 Aero 9-3x Combi from NC to TX every year, and the panel light adjustment button is a lifesaver for the eyes! 👀. The speed chime is too 🤣😂
Had my 9-3 for 6 months and didn't realise this was needed for reverse.. always thought switching to reverse was a bit clunky and obviously this is why. You think I've done any damage forcing the gear stick this way?
I dont know if you included this in your next videos: If youre on nightpanel and rev over a certain rpm ( I dont know exactly how much), the revmeter will also turn on and show you how much youre sending your aircraft
Here’s a feature I don’t think anyone has mentioned, yet? SAHR, which stands for Saab active head restraints, which is a mechanism built into the front seats of most 9-3’s and I think 9-5’s. It is designed to protect against whiplash in the event of a rear end collision.
Ok, but what is it? Is it activated upon impact? Like the headrest moves forward? Lol I have no clue.. Cause my headrests don't move up or down at all no matter how much strength I have. It's like they're stuck...even though the button is pressed and I'm pulling on headrest.
hello i really enjoy watching your videos on the saabs.i had a question you might know is it a common issue that you would see manual gearbox leaking from the inner cv joint?thank you
There’s the small pockets on the front of the driver and passenger seat, the centre arm rest slides forwards (on some models) and the CD player can play mp3 cds

G'day mate!! Ive been watching your channel for ages now. Always great to see another passionate SAAB enthusiast enjoying his machine. The Swedes really know how to make a decent sled right!? Loving those bronze rims on the 9-3 man! I have also have a black 9-3ss (04 model), and I too have done bronze/gold 18" rims on mine as of few years back. The black on gold does look great. Classy. Much nicer than the completely murdered out look i think. Been thinking bout a colour change lately though. What rims are those mate? They look absolutely sick! 🤙💯🔥 Looks like something you see on an Audi R8 or a Lambo. They suit the Saab much better though! 😉👌 also, what's in the mysterious cardboard box in the back of the Turbo-X? 🤔 😂
Thank you very much! They are variant xenon (which coincidentally are used on some high end super cars haha). The box is just full of detailing supplies
Where do you find that cup Holder. I have a 2003 9-3. There appears to be a piece missing and it is a. Wry black sticky substance on either side of that Opposite of the parking brake

The air conditioning also works for inside the arm rest, good for keeping your juice etc cool, it also works the same with heaters, so is good for keeping a hot snack warm if you want to keep it for a while, or are in a hurry, the auxiliary switch will work when used, but just to let you know the connection for it is either inside or on the back of the arm rest, I can't remember exactly were but it is definitely one of the two places mentioned, The flat line on the key fob is known as and named by Saab as the "find my car button", Finally can anyone let me know if it is actually possible to turn up the boost on my 9-3 by disconnecting the waste gate from the turbo, and turning the waste gate I think clockwise for 3 full turns actually works, I have read about this, but have never seen anyone actually do it, and have read also that doing it can F,.k the turbo, any advice on this would be much appreciated.

Great videos! I appreciate them, as I watched them to get my ECM out of my 03 9-3 Linear. Just got it back with a stage one tune. One secret feature that I can think of that you have not covered in this video, but I am sure you will in another video, is the rear lights (fog button). Next to my fog light button is another one that makes the rear taillights brighter. I find myself actually using this feature on foggy days like we are having today.
On my 2 last Saab 9-5 (2003/08) switching the fog light button 'on' makes 'one' position light at the back, the left one, getting brighter, really brighter. Great in fog.. and snow storms, here in Québec..
Comfort windows/roof. On the convertible (I believe the Arc's and Aero's) you had the option to open and close the top including the windows. By holding the open it close button on the key fob. Variable boot space: My old 900ng and 9-3 convertible had a standard option in which you could raise the compartment where the roof actually folds in to, so you had more space. Coming home: Flick the high beam when you are parked and the low beam will turn on for 30secs. And all the little aviation hints that are included in every Saab model. Got to love those!
The button on the dashboard with a Line. Can be activated with a Tech2 and then an auxillary 12 V outlet beside the battery. The outlet will follw egen activated full beam of your head lights during night Times. This is for installing extra lights in the front. The 12 V outlet is already on a fuse check the owners manual. So just install the extra head lights, activate the button with a Tech2.

I recently got a 2004 Saab 93 AVC Turbo convertible from a close friend of mine, the computer went bad and because of the trouble of getting one, the car was parked for 3 months before the mechanic got the computer. When the car was parked everything worked but the computer, after the computer was finally replaced, when we started the car the AC was dead, have you heard of this happening with the 93s? I don't know, maybe I am curious when the headlight wipers actually activate? I was told by my Saab's previous owner that they're automatic and need no intervention on the driver's part.
One you didn't mention. The Saab automatic doesn't need to have a 'Sport' button to adjust where it shifts. To me it seems that it adjusts when it shifts based on where the accelerator pedal is. Floored will take you right to the red line; down but not all the way, it will shift at a higher rpm; and if you're just accelerating slowly the shift will be early and smooth. I have a button on my '08 but it just causes the car to use a lower gear.
I was believed to understand that Saab autos learn how you drive for so many miles iirc you can reset it by holding down the throttle so long after that it picks up your driveing style ie ploddingaround or heavy footed I'll have to check or someone can correct me as I did have a VECTOR Tid now a TTID 6spd2 manual.great cars for the money drives great no rattles etc
The "---" -button is for extra lights only, there is a socket in engine bay where you can connect extra lights into. This socket gets power only when using high beam after pressing the "---" -button. It woud be cool if the button could also be used for other purposes.

On my '08 SAAB 9-3 if I hold the lock button while I'm outside the car the windows roll up. And if you hold unlock they roll down. Also tons of people are going to require you show off that quirky cupholder on the dash. Additionally, the windshield wiper settings are more fine tuned than on any other car I've been in if you want to cover that
nice! thanks for the input
So I'm about to buy a 2008 9-3 aero 2.0.. I was wondering if you could tell me what other Saab models or years are compatible if you could.. there is a 2003 9-3 for parts 300$ an I was thinking about getting with it
But separate buys not from same person
The glovebox thing is true. Haha
I have a saab 9-5 and have always my Marabou 🍫 in the glovebox 😂
lol!
In the Wagon / Estste 93 you get a metal Saab Airplane in the floor of the rear boot space, which is a handle for lifting the floor up so you can access the spare wheel. You do t get this on the hatchback / saloon versions.
yeah, cool little quirk!
I have that, just learned what it was this year lol
Turn of your engine take out the key open the door, flash the high beam once and the "follow me home lights" turns on! But you probaly knows this already.. (sorry for my bad english)
just uploaded a part 2 and i included this; thanks for the suggestion
The glovebox AC is def a cool idea! I feel like a lot of euro cars do that. My c300 had a little vent hole inside too
oh cool!
For the next video you can show how to see the engine oil quality, how to use the coming-home lights and how to program the ACC unit (see user manual)
thanks for the tips
I've always used that smart slot for a credit card holder (pretty much exclusively when going through a drive-thru), but I never really thought that was the intended function. Little things. One more reason I'd hate to drive anything other than a Saab.
Уловил местами суть. Без переводчика сложно,не супер ваш язык учил. Но за кнопку на брелке с подсветкой габаритов - спасибо.
No related to the video content, the Turbo X has a vacuum leak, when you were showing the side mirror tilt feature you can hear the vacuum pump kicking in and out
Good call mine cycles but not as often as that,
good to know; i'll look into it
We were wondering what the noise behind the passenger headlight was.... thanks as we just got this car and didn't even have to search 🙃 6:00 is where you can hear it for those wondering 👍
Secret feature #1: women will rush to you faster than a tuned Turbo6
oh
Why does my saab 93 has a telephone call icon the supposely accept calls but there is no aux or Bluetooth thing and in fm transmiter does not work? Saab from 2005
i've never really looked into it on mine personally. as far as i know, they do nothing
The best trick when you have guests in your car that don’t know much about cars is to whip out the radio panel cup holder
lol!
I think there is a feature that no one called and I'm not sure if it's a real feature or mine is just kind of broken... When I put the wipers on the slowest interval and touch the lever with just a slight push (no clicking) the wipers do a single turn. If the lever is faulty, then this fault is pretty useable :D
I have same type of ,,feature,, 😀😀😀😀
interesting, thanks
Yep, mine too .... really sensitive
I take my '06 Aero 9-3x Combi from NC to TX every year, and the panel light adjustment button is a lifesaver for the eyes! 👀. The speed chime is too 🤣😂
haha
Maybe programmable, but if I hold down the "extra" button with a line on the key fob, the alarm goes off.
yep
Had my 9-3 for 6 months and didn't realise this was needed for reverse.. always thought switching to reverse was a bit clunky and obviously this is why. You think I've done any damage forcing the gear stick this way?
yikes....quite possible.
Did you know that the top of the centre consul slides forward so you can rest your arm on it in a more comfortable position
Yep! Does it a little too frequently and easily though
Until you break too hard and it flies off never to be reattached 😐
Mine doesn’t 😡 I knew they did cause my dads does
I dont know if you included this in your next videos: If youre on nightpanel and rev over a certain rpm ( I dont know exactly how much), the revmeter will also turn on and show you how much youre sending your aircraft
yep! cool feature
Any of the gauges will come back if needed. For example when fuel is low or temperature is high.
Oh! Saab 9-3!
Jest najlepszy!
Pozdrawiam wszystkich fanów SAAB!
huh
Here's a feature that's only in the convertibles.
If you drop the top and take the back seat out you can carry tall objects like a fridge.
lol
Here’s a feature I don’t think anyone has mentioned, yet? SAHR, which stands for Saab active head restraints, which is a mechanism built into the front seats of most 9-3’s and I think 9-5’s. It is designed to protect against whiplash in the event of a rear end collision.
Ah yes! Good one 👍🏼
Ok, but what is it? Is it activated upon impact? Like the headrest moves forward? Lol I have no clue.. Cause my headrests don't move up or down at all no matter how much strength I have. It's like they're stuck...even though the button is pressed and I'm pulling on headrest.
hello
i really enjoy watching your videos on the saabs.i had a question you might know
is it a common issue that you would see manual gearbox leaking from the inner cv joint?thank you
I wouldn’t say it’s common. I would advise posting about this on a saab Facebook group
Thank you
Are you sure its gearbox leakage? Most common is on B207 the vacuum pump and also the power steering pump have leak.
There’s the small pockets on the front of the driver and passenger seat, the centre arm rest slides forwards (on some models) and the CD player can play mp3 cds
Good advice! I just filmed part 2 the other day and it’ll be up on Saturday. I included most of those in there
Why saab is underrated? Thats sad. I have a 13yr old saab 9-5 and it still goes i mean.. works just fine i love it.
Awesome. Great cars for sure
Your car looks absolutely beautiful I love subs I used to drive a Saab 9000 carlsson with the full body kit and big bumpers and cross spoke wheels I miss that car so bad can't believe I sold it years ago to buy a stupid 5 Series
On my way to pick up my 2003 9-3. It’s amazing to see your posts. Thank you. 💪
nice! hope you enjoy it
bought a 9-3 last summer as my first car and I love it! It's easy to do maintenance on, it feels great to drive and it feels luxorious. Unfortunately I have smoke coming from my engine bay atm :(
Much appreciated for this video...Love Saabs, no matter vintage or modern!! Don't have any SAAB but o realised that you are doing great and constructive thing...
♥️♥️SAAB♥️♥️ for life!!
Thank you!
Hi the cup holder is very neat on transmission cover ! Where can I get one from please ? I live in U.K.
thanks 😊
I linked the video in the top corner when I mentioned it. If you go to that video you can find a link to buy it.
Trans is inversed, so it would be under hood.
The light button you pushed on the Key, hold it down and it sets off the alarm. Pretty cool
Yep
Would also be a "Follow me home" function which can be engaged from inside the car as well.
I keep my glovebox cool for the Glock. Gloria doesn't like heat!
lmfaoooo
Hi, if you turn your fog lights on while your full beam lights are on, the fog lights will follow on/off of your full beam lights. Nice to have a little extra light in the night. Also , if I press and hold the lock button on my key, the side mirrors fold in.
nice! good tip :)
9-3 V6 Turbo Wagon - Any one has an idea what the function of the "switch" with grooves is at the end of the turn signal arm? Thank you much for all the info.
it adjusts cruise control speed. push up to increase, down to decrease
Well looks like I’m ordering a 3rd cup holder lol
lol!
Daniel Skinner please share the link 😃💪
Where's link?
@@rustgus Here's the link to the 3D printed cup holder: store.mnproto.com/product/smart-slot-cup-holder-insert/
Let me know if you have any questions! Thanks!

5th? Should be 2 in center of back seat, facing front, as well
Saab 9-3 will always be the most beautiful car ever made to me 🥹🥲 she’s as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside ❤
also, what's in the mysterious cardboard box in the back of the Turbo-X? 🤔 😂
Thank you very much! They are variant xenon (which coincidentally are used on some high end super cars haha). The box is just full of detailing supplies
Hi I'm just wondering what 18 rims fits the Saab 93 I have the Saab 93 Aero 2.8 litre V6 turbo engine 2007 model.
Where do you find that cup
Holder. I have a 2003 9-3. There appears to be a piece missing and it is a. Wry black sticky substance on either side of that Opposite of the parking brake
I linked the video where I installed it at the time I was talking about it! Go click that pop out and you can find the website in the description of that video.
7:56 press and hold the button around 5 seconds and you will see another feature
lol
That is awesome! I have a SAAB 9-3 2006 mod 120HK 1,9 TiD Diesel station wagon with original engine, I am so jealous of your SAABs! They are so cool! I really wanna customize mine but that sort of thing is expensive in Norway
it's expensive here too! lol
Is there any other videos for a completely new user?? Anyone!! I am about to be on the road with a 9-3 2010 auto and everything is new to me
The air conditioning also works for inside the arm rest, good for keeping your juice etc cool, it also works the same with heaters, so is good for keeping a hot snack warm if you want to keep it for a while, or are in a hurry, the auxiliary switch will work when used, but just to let you know the connection for it is either inside or on the back of the arm rest, I can't remember exactly were but it is definitely one of the two places mentioned, The flat line on the key fob is known as and named by Saab as the "find my car button", Finally can anyone let me know if it is actually possible to turn up the boost on my 9-3 by disconnecting the waste gate from the turbo, and turning the waste gate I think clockwise for 3 full turns actually works, I have read about this, but have never seen anyone actually do it, and have read also that doing it can F,.k the turbo, any advice on this would be much appreciated.
i didn't know that, cooL! and no, you'd probably need a tune to safely turn up boost. but idk
Guys if your saab has that dredded horrible premature very hard downshift that is a clogged resonator replace it with a straight pipe and the car will run miche better and shift normal and smooth all the time
Great videos!
Yep it’s pretty useful! 😁
On my 2 last Saab 9-5 (2003/08) switching the fog light button 'on' makes 'one' position light at the back, the left one, getting brighter, really brighter. Great in fog.. and snow storms, here in Québec..
how many miles on your saab? was thinking of getting the tune - im @ 140. trying to decide if it's still worth getting.
Thanks! I used to have a Saab 900... I currently have a Volvo S90. Are you single? Would you like to drive my car?
my mirror preprogram is to compleatly fold in the mirrors :)
yep, something US cars didn't get :(
@@AutoAutopsy big oof :(
Comfort windows/roof.
On the convertible (I believe the Arc's and Aero's) you had the option to open and close the top including the windows. By holding the open it close button on the key fob.
Variable boot space:
My old 900ng and 9-3 convertible had a standard option in which you could raise the compartment where the roof actually folds in to, so you had more space.
Coming home:
Flick the high beam when you are parked and the low beam will turn on for 30secs.
And all the little aviation hints that are included in every Saab model. Got to love those!
Thanks for the suggestions! Much appreciated
I thought the airco fearure in my glove box was broken. Turns out there’s a button in it 😅 Thanks for the tip!
Yep, exactly what i was thinking/saying lol!
Air conditioned glovebox for your cold weather gloves! 😂
You know it!
As far as i can recall, i've never put gloves in a glovebox
From South Africa 🇿🇦 Please help with advice-
I bought a 2004 Saab 9-3 Turbo 1.8.
But the automatic gearbox is slipping.Actually it just don't move at all after the 0revious owner done a transmission oil change.
It's a good clean sedan.
Sorry to hear. The previous owner likely did something incorrectly with the fluid change. Here’s a video on how to fill it and check the level: ruclips.net/video/bexCP8Y5gBo/видео.htmlsi=vTwn89x5kFqUC1ZE
Nice sponsor man good job
thank ya
For a 2004 5 speed turbo, is there anything I need to Worry about with it? Has 138k Miles on it
This is my dream car. I'm from Bosnia and relatively poore. So I guess it will stay just a dream. 😞
forgot the 3 jet windshield, the extra brake light, the hidden cup holders, the headlight jets too, and some more i forgot.
Now he wants another $1200.00 to replace the compressor and dryer, he said it is not necessary to replace the expansion valve. Does this sound kosher?
ac being dead as a result of a bad ecu doesn't sound right
Hello. What you think for a 2007 Saab 93 convertible 2.0t with 110,000 miles on it. The guys saying it was always garage kept and clean ,new tires, blah, blah.
He wanna 6000$ for it?
Please tell me your opinion about it. You know more about Saab than I do and I like your Chanel. Thanks!
If it has no issues, that could be a fair price. The intake valve issues from 07-09 2.0 cars would possibly steer me away from it though
Hey another one that wasn't mentioned. Hold down your unlock button on the key and watch as your front windows and sunroof open.
see part 2!
The Line on the fab on the Key I have connected to a Auto start to warm up my motor the one inside is setup to disconnect the startup.
03:20 haha yeah, thats not true. Maybe theyre confusing us swedes with the swiss again? ;)
oy
Very secret how to put in reverse😂😂
Haha
@@AutoAutopsy My Peugeot 2003 HDi has the same reverse lift feature on the gearshift. Good feature.
I have a 2003 593 I have a problem with my car starting up I have to keep jumping the battery I bought a new battery and it's still doing that the garage said that it is something that's drawing off the battery and this guy works for sad for what's the size for 40 years and he still can't figure out why would you know the reason why
Could be a million things. You need to take it to someone who can find where that drain/draw is coming from.
Hi, a quick question
Will 225/50/17 tyres fit on my 17'' rims? I have a 2007 1.9 diesel linier and currently it has 215/50/17 tyres.
Yeah they’ll fit. I run 225/45/18 on my car and it’s lowered
@@AutoAutopsy Hi, thanks so much, I have spent so much time already researching on this with no avail.
I have a secondary air pump code what too do I checked fuses . I need too check lines and pump huh? Somebody help
Search forums and google, you’ll find detailed answers. Depends on if you have 2.0 or 2.8.
My Buttle is for the extra head ligts a hav to pusch it to get the lampa to work. Claes Sweden
What is this platform called it accidentally appeared blow one of the videos I was watching
huh? A Saab 9-3?
I don't know, maybe I am curious when the headlight wipers actually activate? I was told by my Saab's previous owner that they're automatic and need no intervention on the driver's part.
I don’t believe they are automatic. I have always assumed they work when you pull the stalk to spray the windshield
My 2009 9-3 Aero XWD has a fourth button on the dash called “Sport”. Always wondered why exactly this does and the Turbo X doesn’t have it.
im not sure!
Yeah, that's exactly what sport mode is lol!
It can. I’ve hooked up an airhorn to it 😁
@@HelloCrash 😀 Working when using high beam only?
nice!
Just bought a 9-3 aero 2.8t v6
Nice!
Is it reliable? The 2.0t? Any common problem with oil consumption or liquid leak how good it it ith around 160,000miles on it?
I have it with 220000 miles. Just a regular oil change, take care of turbo and there is no leaks or oil consumption, 9,5 litre of gasoline for 60 miles
I use the blank button in my 9-3 for a airhorn I’ve installed.
Most europeans use it for extra bumper lights (for example the big round HELA’s)
nice lol
@@AutoAutopsy The "blind" button if you what Crash said,, Open your hood, and on the left site next to the alarm button isch, you have a connector, you get the saab harness for it, and you can plugg in whatever you want, On my old 9-3 Aero i had extra light during wintertime, Press that button and they turn on ( with original high beams ) but you need to press that button everytime you start the car. ( i have the last ever cable orio made for it =)
I use the "blind" button for some big lights on the car
I just bought a 1999 saab 9-3 in AZ that won't start. I think it needs a new twice module. Do you do repairs on Saabs?
Hey, pretty sure I responded to your IG DM
Picking up my first 9-3 tomorrow, 2007 with infotainment.
On the earlier 03-06 9-3's, the mid-level radio (that you installed). You can go through a settings menu and select a genre of music to listen to. It will scan FM to find stations with that coding and stop at the first one. Kinda nifty, but really only if you're on a long roadtrip and the channel broadcasts the data. The clock can also be set via RDS instead of manually.
Never knew! I’ll have to search for that function
You didn't mention one I like. When the car is off and locked and you forgot to shut your sunroof, push and hold the lock button on the keyfob and untill the sunroof closes.
good one!
