“If you’re not seeing this video it means I’ve failed” ha!
Peter check the weight of the batteries they should be between 42-48 grams each for a real 18650! if you weigh an NEC, Sony, or an LG it will be 42-48 grams the ones that tell you they are 5000-6000 mAh for a 18650 are fake. I found a small 14400 battery inside a 18650 battery case with sand around giving it's weight. they will be around 28-36 grams.
Enjoyed the video, thanks for sharing it, Peter. Decent quality indeed.
Another of your back garden videos? I really like listening to the Aussie wildlife in the background audio.
Its quite hypnotic. I enjoy it too.
Glad you liked it. A future video will have just the birds with me saying nothing.
Not much in there to burst into flames.
Have ordered one to add to the charger collection!
Thanks Peter!
The electronics seem alright but the build quality leaves a lot to be desired. The solder joints for the USB cable are magnificent.
Soldering looked very poor. You should have reflowed the joints while you had it apart.
Good video, thank you. I got similar batteries of Amazon, they were inexpensive. They were marked 3000mAh, in reality they offered only 1500mAh. I paid a bit more for charger with the LCD display that can actually test different kinds of batteries and estimate their capacity.
I notice the USB was just two wires. Most chargers these days are intelligent and will only put out a lot lower current unless they get the correct code on the data pins. Batteries that are a lot lower capacity then advertised. A charger that prob will not charge that fast at all. Are they really worth the money? True 18650 of 3,500mAH here in the UK were about £7.50 each(they weigh a lot! I have a single cell vesion of the charger I carry for emergencies but for multiple cells, I think you really need a more powerful charger. I would be interesting to see how long some propper capacity batteries would last. For now I will stick to a small SLA.
Glad I'm not the only who has problems opening things!
No vid on ft817 digital noise reduction? I see a Chinese external dnr/Adjustable filter.
I've reviewed active audio filters for the FT817 as supplied by SOTA Beams. See previous videos.
Nice video that charger i buy to charge my 18650 battery 🤣
Trying the Ebay link brought up Error 404.
Too bad those four ICs did not have any markings.
Just a generic lithium charger IC, with a resistor to provide charge current limit setting on the one pin. Literally one of hundreds that all have almost the same footprint and circuit, from a hundred Chinese silicon vendors.
not one of his best videos
Not exactly rapier spudger work, but always a good watch. This guy absolutely exemplifies the nature and purpose of the amateur service, that's for sure!
