Greetings from Great Britain...Great channel...I've subscribed ...in the UK Van Halen are not revered by your average so called "music journalist"..or general public...I assume this is why Van Halen never really bothered with the UK...in the same way the Paul Weller in The Jam...never bothered with the USA...in fact hard as it is to imagine Van Halen supported BonJovi....at work once a woman listening to me raving about guitars I mentioned Eddie...she's like " oh I saw them when we went to see BonJovi ..."....I asked if she enjoyed Eddie's playing....did he do a solo spot etc....she was like..."oh I cannot remember...it was boring..they didn't have any catchy songs....I'd only heard 1 song Jump...but we missed that as we used the time the rubbish support act played to get some drinks ".......I'm like I cannot believe you had the rare opportunity to see Van halen and blew it off...she's like...we saw them twice London and Sheffield...I wish they clean up some of the DLR era concert footage and put it on a bluray...it would sell like shit off a shovel....man I remember when my self and other guitar nerds...(of which there weren't many in Barnsley)..would buy each van halen album and listen to it together...picking out new stuff he did....and for a few years eddie always had some new techniques...how may people do that today?...oh the new Billie elish CD is out let's meet up and listen to it together to see what new innovations in music she's invented...?...we will NEVER see that again....

Videos like this is why I subscribed to this channel. Thanks Jeff! : )
*Wow. I really appreciate you guys getting together (again) to swap these stories. And of course, I'm really, really glad you guys were kind enough to share these stories with the world.*
*It's amazing how you guys witnessed one of his longest & most intimate/personal interviews. As you both alluded to, little did you both know... that you'd both be part of rock history (or at least be witnesses to it). I'm so glad you both were able to meet your #1 idol... and to also not be disappointed even one little bit (you know the old saying... be careful what you wish for - haha).*
Vince, that's awesome how you were able to visit EVH's home/studio & as a bonus, he gives you a guitar?! Amazing! Anyway, thx again. BTW, I never saw VH or EVH, but I'm looking forward to meeting him in Heaven one day.

Glad I stumbled onto this ... I also had the honor of attending the Smithsonian event with my son (he was the the kid who asked Eddie about his first day of school).

Adrian Gurvitz was at West LA Music, a lot, when I was there back in 89, 90. He was friends with either the owner or management, Don, Rick or Than.

One quick caveat, technically Eddie did not write that lick for beat it, some other "Hired gun" did. What Eddie played on Beat It was the guitar solo. Eddie came in as a favor to Michael Jackson and Quincy Jones who was producing the track and he recorded two guitar solos on the Fly. And Quincy Jones picked one of the two, which is what ended up on the album. Eddie might have learned how to play the lick, and thats how he remembered. Or he might just pulled it from memory, I mean we've all heard it a thousand times, and just played it in front of him from ear and memory. Which is what I would have done, had I never played it before either. Being a musician myself all I have to do is think of a lick and I can pretty much figure it out how it goes like within a couple of minutes. I'm sure Eddie Van Halen would have done it even faster than that! LOL. Thanks for the amazing videos guys. Eddie Van Halen's the only reason I'm alive today! 🤘😊❤

What are you talking about that he DIDN'T write it??? He explicitly SAID he did in about a 1/2 hour. Don't spew BS please. Imagine Eddie Van Halen who was CONSTANTLY writing played something someone ELSE created. SMH.
You must be thinking about that vehemently JEALOUS and overrated PRINCE.
