This is your first Queen reaction? Wow, what a choice to start with! First of all, congrats for getting here. Secondly, are you in for an adventure! Not only was Freddie Mercury the most glorious of all frontmen and the creme de la creme of vocalists, every member of the band was incredibly gifted. And they had played and rehearsed together long enough that they could practically read each other's minds. I am the same age as the the members of Queen, and I was a serious rock fan in the 60s and 70s. I remember hearing their songs for the first time. It's only now, all these years later that I can really see their genius. I envy you, now hearing these songs for the first time. Enjoy the journey!

Somebody To Love live Montreal 81 is mandatory as is Live Aid. STL is ranked as the second best live performance. 33 years after the death of Freddie Live Aid holds the title if the greatest live performance in rock history. Queen was untouchable live. ❤️👑🥁🎤🎹🎸

FYI, the reason this cuts off so abruptly is because it was part of a medley, with another song before and after…
There’s a LONGER version of this video that’s actually BETTER because it includes another surprising switch-up and the actual ending of the medley…
    It’s titled:
    “Dragon Attack REPRISE Version”

I was fortunate to have seen Queen in concert twice. Once with Freddy and the other with paul Rogers. Absolutely adore this group. Now finally I get to hear your thoughts about this Apex Band and the prowess of each member. Especially the Deacon of the Bass guitar. But Dragon Attack wouldn't have been my first choice for a David Heretic Reaction teview. Nowhere near the top 20 let alone being the first choice of being stripped apart and analyzed. But still thank you for the reaction and keep up the quality reviews and don't change your format. Simply the best reaction channel on RUclips.

Saw them on this tour in August ‘82. Amazing! Best show I ever saw. Actually the opener, Billy Squier put it over the top other wise it would be neck and neck with Springsteen at MetLife 2016 when he played for just under 4 hours. Freddie was an amazing front man and had the entire crowd in the palm of his hand. If he’s not the best, he has to be in the discussion. Thankful I got to see them, disappointed I only got to see them once.

I am a Queen fan. I have heard every song in every studio record they released from 1974's _Queen II_ to 1980's _The Game_ . In those 7 albums over seven years Queen covered a lot of musical territory. From proto-thrash metal to glam to arena rock to pop to funk, they showed off their versatility to such a degree that I struggle to think of another band that did the same. Led Zeppelin comes to mind, mainly because of their members' instrumental abilities and aesthetic choices, but Queen is actually closer to the Beatles because their versatility is due to the number of songwriters in the band. The Beatles had three songwriters, two of them in a level all of their own. Zeppelin had two principal songwriters and one lyricist, so all their music was funneled through the taste and desires of the two front men. Queen had _four_ songwriters and three vocalists with pretty distinct qualities each of them. Brian May could have never written 'Another One Bites the Dust", similarly, Roger Taylor wouldn't have written "Save Me". I struggle to think in what universe John Deacon wold have written "Crazy Little Thing Called Love". And although Freddie Mercury was a pretty talented songwriter, "Dragon Attack" is too sparse and melody deficient for him to have written it. Queen was also a very democratic band, one where a song was recorded pretty much as the songwriter wished. "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" sounds the way it does because Mercury had most of it recorded before Brian May could do anything to "ruin it". May came around late during the proceedings and was limited to playing and using gear typical of 1963. "Another One Bites the Dust" was hated by both Taylor and May, but Mercury loved it because at the time he was heavy into the gay disco scene that would have played this song. And he was very happy to help Deacon make the song sound like how he heard it in his head. In case you haven't noticed, I have limited myself to songs in this album. You should check it out if you haven't already.

Montreal 1981 was a 2 night gig being filmed and the film crew threatened the audience with expulsion if they got loud or out of their seats. This was part of why the band was pissed with the film crew during the concert especially on day 2. the crew even told the band to do everything exactly the same on the second night. THAT is polar opposite to Queen's philosophy that each show is unique. Freddie was particularly perturbed so he purposely wore the short shorts and red bandana on the encore to screw with the continuity if the film people tried to slice the shows together.

Have you listened to Queen 1 and 2? Completely different to the later stuff. Albums are great. Live is even better. (But some of the best never made it live.) My personal favourite Queen song is Liar. Check out Rainbow 1974 esp Ogre Battle, Stone Cold Crazy, Liar. Or Hammersmith Odeon 1975 White Queen. Or Hyde Park 1976 You Take My Breath Away. Also it is really interesting to see such raw hunger and where the greatest hits machine came from. In these early albums Freddie’s creativity is off the charts. (Brian May scrambling to keep up.) Eventually resulting of course in Bo Rap.
As soon as you take your eyes off Freddie on stage, you’ve missed something. So entertaining and brave. Unpredictable . But he will also happily step back and let Brian or Roger or John take the spotlight too. ❤ RIP Freddie Mercury. Legend! ❤

Even my classically trained elder sister who is in her 70's says no one match Freddie Mercury, for being a front man. As you explained, he engages the viewer and you are unaware of the passage of time.
Not there best song and I believe thats why I don't really recall it having only heard the studio version years ago. However this live version definitely makes the song. A great example of a live performance, as you have described.

Typically you just see the same couple of songs from every band reacted to over and over. So cheers for doing a deep cut. But man, doing this live version was a mistake. You were completely robbed of 99 percent of the fantastic, incredible performance they laid down in the studio. Dragon Attack is NOTHING like this blah live performance.
