Ms. Wong, Your videos are great! I am a dad in ILLINOIS that spend a lot of time with my son who loves TKD sparring. We both watch your channel all the time for ideas and new techniques. I believe because of your videos my son has become one of the top sparring students in his class at the age of 8 years old. Please keep it up, you are touching a lot of people that can not afford TKD as well. I thank you once again Ms Wong
This is great. I often taught my students that sparring is like the Taegeuk in motion. Keep moving, if they attack, counter-attack. Keep up your flow and make their attacks as your opportunity to score.
This is for all you "that doesn't work in MMA and or real world" folks; I'm new to TKD, but I have studied muay thai(2005-present), boxing(2007-present), wrestling(2000-2004), wing chun(2008-present) and kenpo(2005-2008) and with the exception of wing chun, all of these martial arts are used in MMA in varying degrees and they all teach you to move laterally or back to avoid a hit, that little dip back Alex demonstrates is called a tuck in boxing and is also taught in many muay thai gyms and is definitely taught in most MMA gyms. And being able to move away from a hit is definitely real world applicable for any situation that the move is actually feasible. In a real world fight you need to assume 3 things, that your opponent is stronger, smarter, and faster than you are, so absolutely limit the amount of damage you allow them to inflict and throw everything into your counter assault, because your life depends on it...With that said, thanks for the videos Alex, they've helped me understand the world of sport TKD immensely.
Do you have a video on the diffrent ways to hold your hands while sparring. Over the past few weeks of sparring I notice diffrent people hold their hands differently. What do you recommend??
Hola!
@@oneshadowdragon At least in WTF rules all kicks must be above the belt, so any kick below the belt would be illegal. This includes in sparring at the dojang.
@@KarlBrownTV that's a dumb rule. No wonder I quit taekwondo . Every style has serious combat holes taekwondo is no exception denying a low kick or scissor kick is like denying a jab or cross . If I do a taekwondo match now I see myself getting disqualified for using realistic combat moves like the low kick or scissor kick . No punches to the face either these rules are just bad and because of the rules it makes it easier for someone with no skill to beat a taekwondo person.
I am restarting Tae Kwon do class and my goal is to get my black belt this time around Alex. I do think that it is very hard for me right now because I'm badly out of shape,so doing the kicks is tough for me. I just want to know how can I improve my flexibility, and do you think that buying a stretch machine will help me to get better flexibility in my legs?
Your school should have a warm-up routine at the start of each class. Just do that routine every other day at home and you'll improve rapidly. My school's routine looks almost exactly like Alex's video "improving my flexibility | stretching routine”. The only difference is that we add some upper body such as wrist/neck/elbow/back.
Taekwondo memiliki tendangan yang indah. Namun sayang tendangan taekwondo menurut saya kurang powerful.

How to defend the low kick or scissor kick?
Low kick in WTF Taekwondo is forbidden.
maybe for tournament but for sparring I'm sure its legal. I saw alex wong do it on her channel but that was just a demonstration.
ruclips.net/video/UENavsLBK58/видео.html THis move should be legal in all combat sports.

Very educating....what about one steps? For beginners and up...
Hey alex?how to focus in sparring
It's simple, don't let emotions take over you and concentrate to the fight because if you think about something else you can lose.

Looks good, sounds good, but no good in the real situation of self defense.
But this video is specifically for TKD sparring
This is for sparring not for real life second i love tkd and if you know tkd in a real life it will give you a great advantages at long distances
But if you are a good player....These tips will also help you in real life...Practise makes a man perfect...😊
It depends on the player/martial artist.
