Susanville: No Way Back (Documentary Miniseries: E1)

In the small and idyllic Northern California town of Susanville, located in Lassen County and situated in the Shasta Cascade mountain range, virtually all employment opportunities are through the prison system. With local industry severely diminished, the county has come to rely on its 2 state prisons and 1 federal prison. Following the announcement that the state of California is closing the California Correctional Center, a major employer in the area, prison guards, business owners, and families alike are left to make sense of the decision. This series reviews the fears, concerns, and opinions of Lassen County residents and their thoughts on the social and economic impact of the prison closing.
